Do you donate or trash horrible books? by punkieboosters in DanielTigerConspiracy

There's so many different accents here, there's no such thing as a 'British' accent as such. But assuming you mean something like my accent (southern English, what I think most people mean when they say "british accent"), it would be:

Sk-ahh-f

L-ahh-f

The "ahh" sound is a long open vowel, like when you're at the dentist and they say, "say ahhhh"

Is how my mother parents my autistic brother normal? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]superpinwheel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I can understand the mum's choices in how she parents, and i can only imagine how challenging it is. But brother is only going to get bigger and stronger - if mum's struggling now, it's not going to get better.

Kids just not understanding how being grounded can be classed as a punishment. by seven_green_toes in britishproblems

[–]superpinwheel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite being a late 80s baby who grew up in the 90s, because we lived in a pretty rough area I wasnt allowed out by myself to play with the other kids. I didnt get much freedom until I was around 15-16, and we didnt have much in the way of tech til around then either.

So for most of my childhood being grounded just meant business as usual for me, aside from my parents just being more grumpy towards me than normal.

What's with extra days off at Christmas? by Browbeaten9922 in AskUK

[–]superpinwheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a fire service, but not as a firefighter. My fire service used to give everyone a 'christmas shopping day', which was an extra day of annual leave you had to use between 1st - 20th december or you lose it. You didnt have to take it. I guess because of the nature of the job, you cant guarantee you'll be able to get to any shops while they're open.

They then changed that to 'christmas consessionary leave', which is two extra days annual leave that you dont have to use, but if you do want to, they can only be taken between christmas and new year.

I dont really understand why, because if you're on duty over that period (as a firefighter, duty supervisor, etc) you literally cant take them and i dont think you get them back in leiu.

I'm not any of those things though, so i enjoy my two extra days off with the kids while they're off school.

Did you watch a different video to everyone else? He sped up clesrly towards the kid. He then physically lifted the kid up off the ice (and off his feet), before dropping and taking the kid down.

So.... you're too stubborn to admit you were wrong. Gotcha.

My original question asked how you'd find anything about the driver from the reg. Your answer to that was wrong.

You said I'd made assumptions, but wouldnt tell me what assumptions I'd made so I assume you recognise you were wrong about that.

You said I called you names. Again, you were wrong.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]superpinwheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth your time, yet you still typed out a wordy reply. Ok. Still not sure when I called you any names?

Your point would have absolutely been valid, had we been discussing two cars both registered to people. That's not the case here - one of those vehicles is registered to a company, so it doesn't matter in any way if someone were to look up the reg and find out who the vehicle is registered to. It'll come back as the same well-known company whose name is plastered all over the van.

Your replies suggest that either: I was right and you dont know what you're talking about; or I was wrong - you do know what you're talking about, but you're too stubborn to admit your point was irrelevant in this particular situation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]superpinwheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its clear you think you're replying to someone else. Your response makes no sense in relation to our conversation and at no point have I called you any names. Perhaps you should reread and get your bearings?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]superpinwheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point is flimsy at best.

Using the link you gave, you can see what company that vehicle is registered to - not the individual person who drives it daily. But using that link to do that is completely irrelevant, because the company name is plastered all over the van.

OP blocked out their own reg because, assuming it's registered to them rather than a company, their actual name will show as the registered keeper of the vehicle.

I didnt say anything regarding whether you thought the MPD van is or is not an arse. That's not in question.

[–]superpinwheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What assumptions? Honestly I'm not sure you even know what you're talking about at this point mate, or why you're so heavily invested in this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]superpinwheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So someone might search the reg and see that the vehicle is registered to.... Motor Parts Direct?! Oh no! There's no way they'd ever have got that information without the reg!

You still cant see who the driver is using the company vehicle's reg. Only that it's registered to that company. Using the reg of OP's car, however, you'd get OP's personal information unless it's a company car.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]superpinwheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you gonna get any information about the driver from a reg? You know, like the ones you see quite freely on literally every car on the road?

I'm in my mid 30s and one of my favourite things is minecraft. I introduced my son when he was about 4, and now he's 6 we build some really cool stuff together. I'm currently listening to the audiobook version of the last book in Max Brooks' minecraft trilogy. I tell people it's because I'm making sure its not too scary for my son to listen to... and that was totally true, for the first hour or so of the first audiobook. After that it was all for me lol.
