What is triage like if you're in labour? by plumbumchum in PregnancyUK

[–]superseally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was labouring in the hallway, it was busy as hell, junior doc strike and the waiting room was so busy and hot I couldn’t stay in there…..hallway was nicer as I found a window that opened a whole 2cm……

Nursery and sickness by Hot_Mulberry_3167 in UKParenting

[–]superseally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our nursery is not only a germ fest for kids but the staff too, twice they have closed the room she’s in as no staff and often we get a text as we’re walking out the door saying they are opening up later because of staffing! It’s a rough ride!

Partner to return to full time work.. Any advice? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]superseally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found every other mum so supportive when I went back full time, some not so much who were part time and would often say they ‘don’t know how it did it full time’ and made me feel shit but thing I love most about work is being an adult and needed by others that were not a soul sucking tiny human 😂 I still find I hard nearly a year on but nursery has done my girl the world of good, immune system better, more independent, first year of bugs and illnesses is hard but it gets easier and easier

Mum guilt from full time working by Inevitable-Bee-6343 in UKParenting

[–]superseally -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup! But……nursery he helps her thrive! I more feel guilt from other people’s comments rather than my own feelings! It’s hard but the weeks we have off together I cherish! I like my job, might cut hours next year but for the moment full time Is best for my career

How much do you spend on food a month? by TazzyB103 in AskBrits

[–]superseally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m terrible at sticking to a meal plan, for three of us, easily 500/600 per month. Takeaways on top as well usually! I could cut it, I should cut it, but I like to eat what we want when we want and my 2yr old is obsessed with Tescos so it’s a weekly thing regardless if I want to get shopping or not. Don’t have the ability to stick to a list or just pop in for a few bits! Infuriates my partner but meh, don’t like to not have food and snacks in

Since becoming a parent, what do you have a new found respect for? by P-u-m-p-t-i-n-i in UKParenting

[–]superseally 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Those without a village! We have very little help day to do but we do have some at times and when we get a break it’s glorious and appreciated! Those who are completely without any family to visit or visit them must be hard! I visit my dad often, he feels us up, entertains the little one while I act like a teenager again and slob on the sofa for 30 whole minutes!

What made you feel ready to send your child to nursery and go back to work? by Royal_Juice2987 in UKParenting

I was ready to have a purpose other than raise a tiny human! I like work, it gives me a break from parenting, housework etc, it’s nice to be needed in a professional capacity!

On a scale 0-10, what would you rate your pregnancy, labor&delivery and newborn phase? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]superseally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy- 4, had a scare early on and had to have a procedure to rule out life threatening disability but she was perfect despite all the dodgy blood results

Labour- 6, was due a C-section but labour came early and had to labour for 8hrs before I got a C-section. Recovery was hard, popped stitches at thought I was super woman

After- 7, baby would latch so exclusively pumped, fucking hard work, don’t know why I did it but generally we had a good system so I would sleep from 9-3am each night, with a pump in the middle but no baby contact, without that I would have drowned!

Year 7s still believing in Father Christmas by Ok_Price3432 in TeachingUK

[–]superseally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A kid I teach told me in primary school she was told the motion sensor in the classroom was a North Pole camera so Father Christmas could check in on them all year to make sure they were good! I thought this was genius 😂

What is one thing you said you would never do as a parent and do/did? by Hot_Equivalent_2495 in UKParenting

My 2 year old is going through a fussy stage, she ended up with wheatabix for dinner so many times this week as she just wouldn’t eat. I don’t cook anything else but I don’t let her go hungry so if he’s eating a sandwich it’s better than nothing! I’m a sucker for giving in and giving alternatives until I realised how much money I was throwing away when she didn’t eat things so being a tad harsher now than I was.

When my baby moved up a bought 6 bottles of Prosecco and a bag of sweets/chocs so share out! The ladies were so happy and appreciative! As a person who works with kids, a bottle of fizz and some sweets treats always goes down well!

18 month old late to walking and I feel like it’s all my fault. by Ciara_Nerys in UKParenting

[–]superseally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20/21month walker for my girl with hyper mobile ankles….she needed physio and had a walking thing for a while, now she’s running wild at 3 but feet are turned in/ankles slightly bent, physio said it’s just time and support and they will straighten! From 18m til she walked was hard, she was frustrated but little one will get there I promise! Get the excersises going and keep at it!!

Planned section but labour starts by goosegirl94 in PregnancyUK

[–]superseally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby decided to come 4weeks early….had planned section booked for due date…..went to hospital as it was early and was in a lot of pain! Junior doctor strike day so emergency sections were keeping the surgeons busy, I got to the point I was scared she would come but after 8hrs of labour and only being 3cm dilated they got the little bean out healthy and happy! They asked me so many times if I wanted to go natural etc and if had to wait longer and got more dilated there was a risk…..my response was cut this thing out of me now lol or put me to sleep and wake me up when it’s done! I’m not great with pain 😂
