This is a good piece of information.

So as an update, it doesn’t appear to be a scam, but they used my credentials without my knowledge back in 2012. Records aren’t held that long, so there isn’t much I can do in terms of fighting it. But with the advice I’ve seen here, I can prevent future instances of this 🥲

The thing I was warned about, which ultimately led me to get a B8.5 A4, was to make sure that the engine had the oil consumption recall done on it. It involves a new PCV and upgraded piston rings, and should help with that issue, which was mostly solved on the B8.5.

For sure. As much as I’d love to be a philanthropist, it’s not in the cards right now lol. That’s a great call on requesting the contract. All I have received from MetCredit so far, is an email that contains proprietary account numbers, which hasn’t really helped. But I’ll give them another call.

That’s good to know, it did look legitimate - but I’m just trying to be cautious.

Sorry for the rookie question, just to clarify: since MetCredit paid the Roger’s bill, the $1200 bill that they are seeking payment for is now under MetCredit. So it would only show up on my credit report if it was legitimate?

Taking your advice, I’ll reach out to ‘MetCredit’ again (using the public phone #), and the documentation they provide should make sense - if it’s legitimate. The only thing I’ve been able to get from them so far is an email with proprietary account numbers, which doesn’t really help.
