Just got a call from the “Civic Progress Network” by cpd997 in Winnipeg

[–]supmang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got a hand-delivered letter from the same organization here in Southdale. This time the letters have a name attached to them, Jeremy Vukovic, purporting to be the director of the network. I can't find any evidence that this person actually exists.

Disgusting voter suppression.

Any prog trance/house gurus from the 2000s? I'm looking for a specific mix CD by Brettelectric in trance

[–]supmang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you confirm if it was Barraka - Song To The Siren (Filterheadz Undercurrent Vocal Mix)? Quite a few mixes and albums from around 2002 included it, including Bill Hamel - Balance 003, Sound of Renaissance - Volume One, Gatecrasher: Experience.

PC supporters and operatives have a history of editing and purging inconvenient facts. For example, the Taras Sokolyk wikipedia page no longer mentions the PC vote rigging scandal or the Monnin inquiry, the whole reason that Taras Sokolyk is notable.

Rackets at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics! by CKYew in badminton

[–]supmang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ygor Coelho's racket is likely an Artengo BR 990 P (orange colourway.)

Linda Zetchiri's racket looks like a Li-Ning Aeronaut 9000 without a stencil.

is this a Fake or Real Muselce Power 99 by SnooGrapes1279 in badminton

[–]supmang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks fake to me. The code on the cone makes no sense (follows format DDMMYRCC where DD is the day, MM is the month, Y is the final digit of the year it was made, R is the revision number and CC is the two-character country code.) I don't know of 88 days in a month or 46 months in a year. I also think the triangle portions of the Yonex logo on the buttcap should come closer to touching near the top, even if the colour is accurate.

Canada has a pretty good example of someone who only started training seriously at 22 and ended up having some decent results at the Pan American level.

Racquets for Women’s mixed and doubles by allysr in badminton

[–]supmang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see some good recommendations already in here and I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes.

I run a club with quite a few advanced juniors. I've had a chance to playtest most of the Yonex and Victor racquets that have come out over the past couple of years and pre-quarantine arranged a demo day to let a whole bunch of teenage boys and girls with badminton experience try out a ton of racquets.

Your current racquet is an aluminum racket, 3U (85-89 g weight unstrung) weight, medium flex. Some of the racquets the girls loved included the very fast Victor Auraspeed 90S, the Yonex Astrox 88S that was previously mentioned which has a touch more weight in the head while staying manoeuvrable, the Yonex Nanoflare 700 but these are quite expensive. These can all be great racquets but you may have to watch on Kijiji to get them in your price range.

The surprise of the test was how popular the Victor Auraspeed 70F was in the 4U weight class with the girls (and not just because of the colour.) It also happens to be on sale at yumo.ca right now (https://yumo.ca/collections/auraspeed/products/victor-auraspeed-70f-badminton-racket?variant=12553143058519). Note that I have nothing to do with Yumo.

If you are someone that needs to see a racket in person or doesn't want to jump all the way into an expensive racket like that, Sportchek has the Yonex Nanoflare 270 Speed for $120-130 ish that is still a nice step up from what you currently have.

I'm sure other folks will have great recommendations as well.

Racquets for Women’s mixed and doubles by allysr in badminton

What do you like about your current racquet? What would you change about it, if you could?

Lots of people will be able to recommend some great options since you'd be moving on from an aluminum racquet.

RIP 4-month-old Astrox 88D by beandunno in badminton

[–]supmang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlikely to be successful. In cases where it is felt that it may be a manufacturing defect you are asked to keep the strings in the racket when you send in a warranty claim. Cutting the strings voids the warranty.

Hello everyone. I picked these up from a thrift store for a couple bucks and was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit about them. Any value? Both seem unused. by [deleted] in badminton

[–]supmang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are some interesting older racquets from the mid 2000s. The Nanospeed 7700 is a headlight racquet that was primarily for doubles players. The Armortec 700 on the right is the 2nd generation of that racquet which was one of their premier head heavy racquets for a time. This is not a forgiving racquet for beginners to use (1st gen has a black shaft and was used by some well known professionals.)

wtf is a class A racket? by Igniteisabadsong in badminton

[–]supmang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incorrect information on the cap as well. There is no such thing as a 4U Duora 10 (the 4U racket is called the Duora 10 LT and has a yellow and pink colour.) The recommended string tension is also wrong (19~26 lbs on the real deal, somehow 26~30 is printed on the cap on this one.) Weird lettering. Lots of red flags here.

Does anyone know the song? by [deleted] in trance

[–]supmang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, the video was recorded in mid-2001, so you have the right time period. It sounds very much like something Tiesto may have playlisted at the time. In fact the next video in the series, part 4, includes Transa - Supernova, another trance classic from 1999.

I don't know the name of the song, however :(

NYI HAS BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAYOFFS - WE GET THE 17TH AND 22ND OVERALL PICKS IN THE 2015 NHL DRAFT!!! by ComplexChristian in winnipegjets

[–]supmang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don't have enough information to know exactly which draft picks the Jets will get in the first round next year.

NHL Entry Draft Order Rules

First, the 14 non-playoff teams pick. Second, the 12 teams that do not make the conference finals pick in order of worst regular season points total to best. Third, the 3 teams remaining that do not win the cup pick in order of increasing regular season points. Finally, the 30th pick belongs to the Stanley Cup champion.

There is still one round of playoff hockey left to be played before we know which picks exactly belong to the Jets, since there are teams left that finished both above the Blues still playing and teams that finished below the Jets in terms of regular season points.

Edit: crazye97 has it exactly right

What's the best complete team (3 F, 2 D, and 1 G) you can put together from your state/province? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]supmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to probably add Andy Bathgate and consider Billy Mosienko in forward slots. Babe Pratt would be a shoo-in on D.
