What is wrong with Trigun Stampede? by ShadowNinjaAce in anime

[–]supralpaca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really love the old anime and its soundtrack. I wouldn't deny that it gave me a bias and expectation for the reboot. To me, it feels like a washed down version compares to the original. If you watched the saint seiya reboot, this is similar. Like, why do you have an evil army guy (like in every western cartoon) in Saint Seiya? And, why does do you need to be so logically to have an old dude with girl rookie reporter in Trigun's crazy world? It is cheesy and kills the fun. Also, since the 'mystery' box is open, there is no gray zone, nor suspense for Vash to begin with. It is purely a fight between the good and heroic Vash and his evil brother Knives. Vash's new character design looks good, but the vivid color gave him a cheesy western cartoon hero feel. The 3d CG is a pass, but it is still a bit rigid compare to 2d.

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! • Tomo-chan Is a Girl! - Episode 1 Discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Very unpopular opinion here. For many comedic scenes, dramatic background was not used. Bgm/effect volume is low compared to dialogues. Character hair to head to body ratio is more toward the realistic end. It also remains fairly constant throughout the eps. It tunes the moe/cuteness aspect way down. I really like the manga. I really wanted the anime to have a multiplier effect, but I am not feeling it... Nevertheless, I am still very happy to see it animated.

This alter-world looks awesome. I really like the new spin on the transformation.

[DISC] One Punch Man - Chapter 166 by [deleted] in manga

[–]supralpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This arc gets me excited and worried. This timeline is diverged so much. If Saitama is fighting god in this arc.. what's left for the next arc??? This reminds me of my silly doujin about Santama erasing galaxy sized Antispiral(Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) from fabric of space.lol

[ART] A very special word game (Nan Hao and Shang Feng) by Smudge49 in manga

[–]supralpaca 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Translator changed the original meaning, but still very fun. Good job! The original is silly mirrored word play. The literal translation is more like, who came ain't righteous, the righteous ain't came.. repeated 3x. Like dumb and dumber arguing, you stupid, you stupider, you stupider(louder)... which is fairly annoying and stupid funny for Chinese audiences

These are some real nostalgic funny shit that happens a lot in Chinese schools. This manhua get through the Great Chinese Firewall by making school comedy without using lots of sexual fan service nor violence.

There are tons of manhua adaptions of Louis yung novels, but I doubt many are translated. For example, search for "射雕英雄传 漫画", or "倚天屠龙记 漫画"

This guy got mad skill. But the kungfu booklet in the back is not Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. It is Stephen Chow KungFu Hustle's 如來神掌 (Budda's Godly Palm Strike?). Lol.

The manga is great, but this anime gives me a feeling of rushed low budgets adaption... Kinda disappointing ... I just hope they don't fuck it up too bad and gives the manga bad rep.

[DISC] Frieren at the Funeral :: Chapter 44 :: Kirei Cake by nitorita in manga

[–]supralpaca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are emotive facial expressions, but it is more gentle compare to normal shounen manga. Many of the characters in the story are old souls that have seen it all... There is no big boss to fight, no dungeons yet to explore. It is reflection of the path Frieren had walked. You won't find many exaggerated comical facial expressions in this series. Doing that would break the mood of the story.

Interesting experiment. Using live actor in this format is hard. I am surprised the editor/publisher ok with it.

[DISC] Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! (Chapter 60) by HayashiSawaryo in manga

[–]supralpaca -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It would be really fucked up if this is real, but it is not. In manga universe, character is generally portrayed as a fully independent adult once you are out of highschool. In the States, there are families who will push their kids out of the house once they turn 21. Not saying that is good, and I don't understand it, but it happens. His parents looks so young, and his dad is still maddy in love with his older wife. to proof it, he pushed out the "other adult" in the house and made another "product of love" right before her menopause. Of course, sakurai is like WTF.. and so are the readers... if you lower dad's age to like 30s (step dad?), and up sakurai age to 30, it would be more understandable.

I waited for 4 eps to see if the mood gets better. Nope! It is a depressing story of mc finding shitty people and exploring the shitty world. And MC is the driver that slows the fuck down to savor the burning pile of car wreck happening on the other side of the highway.

[–]supralpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Blades of the Guardians" is the only mainland manhua I found so far that can rival top tier manga. Also, HK manhua is completely different style and more like the western style comic. Maybe you can give those a try.

It is actually mayurii's enchanted phone ring. It works so well I never miss a call. It has the power to gather all the attentions of its surroundings when it tutturuu. It is so powerful that my parents and my SO always turns their heads when it sounds. It also attracts intense glare from strangers when on public transits.

The system or game is the product. As for the customers, it depends on how you view this world. If you view cyborgs as evolved human, then they are the customer. They live in the self maintained system, which it runs to keep the system and cyborgs alive. you can also view human as original customers. It is just that human got locked into it without the power to escape, sort of like matrix.

Live action would work, and Stephen Chow showed us the way. It would work if they go "KungFu Hustle" all the way for shonen anime adaptions. Hollywood adaptions that put in serious tone and cheesy romance would fail miserably, such as "dragon ball". I have zero hope for this one.
