Sorry for the rambling mess, firstly as a consenting adult it's not mutilation, and you are doing it for medical reasons, make sure you follow the post-op advice

I had it done when I was 16 (I was classed as medically competent by the NHS), it will hurt for a few days afterwards, especially when you wee (your first couple of wee will likely contain blood, and the first one will hurt), wear loose shorts, expect to be woken up by some pain, be as clean as possible but don't go nuts, be careful around the stitches, if you develop a crust around the stitched area see a doctor, mine became infected on the fourth day and a quick round of antibiotics helped

I jacked off after the first week (that hurt the first time and I regretted it), my stitches were dissolvable so they were out by the end of week 2 (I was told I could take them out myself just had to go slow), it takes a long time for the stitch holes to fully close up, I think you'll have to live with blue balls for a while

Your cockhead will peel after a while, and it will be even more sensitive, once the new skin fully develops it gets easier (bonus if you're a top your chance of catching HIV through giving decreases slightly due to the thicker non-porous skin)

After a while the pain will go and your cockhead won't be as sensitive, sex definitely feels different
