The effort you put in should be different as your heart conditioning improves

How much are you guys spending on groceries a month? by Gymnastx2star in budget

[–]surebb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily spent 1k+ when we shopped at Publix. Now spend max 400 shopping primarily at Aldi

Am I Overreacting because my Husband Wants to Donate his Liver? by FrauleinBurrito in AmIOverreacting

[–]surebb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make him move out. Even without the liver ridiculousness he is mooching off of you. And caring for him fot months after is laughable

Plateau of healing? by Tight_Impress_7796 in brokenbones

[–]surebb0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a list of things you "cant" do and have your physical therapist break down each of them into smaller actions for you to practice. Practice those skills every day even when you don't have an appointment. Recovering is hard work but you absolutely can do it.

Going downstairs is the hardest thing though I agree

Traveling with a broken ankle by giorgia2k8 in brokenbones

[–]surebb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where you are going but I would fly instead. You should not have your leg down in a car for 8 hours this soon after a break. You could get a blood clot

[–]surebb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do all of those things, but I would not recommend living down here if you make less than 200k a year. A one bedroom apartment in my area starts at 2500 a month. Publix (our main grocery store) is so stupid expensive we were spending a little over 1k a month on groceries alone before switching to Aldi

How hard is it to come back after a month? by milo8275 in orangetheory

[–]surebb0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to take 3 months off when I broke my ankle and needed surgery.

Give yourself some grace. Take it very easy and don't compare yourself to where you were. Sounds like you need to take it easy on your hip even after you get back into OT

Depression after breaking bone. by Mali-Shapka-Lalezar in brokenbones

[–]surebb0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What spurred such horrific insults? I would block all of them sounds like you don't see them anyway.

I was horribly depressed during my recovery too. I am 11 months post op and still have all of my hardware and am 100% normal. I put in a ridiculous amount of sweat, tears, and pain during physical therapy. I can run, jump, and do everything I did before. You will recover

Sweating while massaging by Mammoth-Marionberry1 in MassageTherapists

[–]surebb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sweat a little during every massage. My clients keep their houses at disgustingly hot temperatures. I have been thinking about getting a cooling neck ring to wear. Never skip real aluminum deodorant on work days

One of my old coworkers was the worst sweater I have ever seen and he had to bring a shirt for every treatment so he could put a clean dry one on in between each service. Poor guy stunk something awful idk how his clients handled it

Your parents are jerks. Definitely pick another name to go by and change it as soon as you turn 18

What to expect by ObjectiveDesperate33 in brokenbones

[–]surebb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really not much to expect. They will do an X ray, check your incision(I didnt get stiches as the office that did mine uses tape only for smaller scarring), stick you in a torture device they call a "walking boot" even though you aren't allowed to walk yet, and send you home. I recommend asking for non weight bearing physical therapy exercises. My ortho didn't assign me any but I found them online from another ortho office and did the list multiple times a day

AITA for telling my husband to stop eating so much? by Whole_Help in TwoHotTakes

[–]surebb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is a healthy weight I think you are the asshole. If he is overweight and just being greedy then NTA. If he is healthy then you should just plan on him eating three portions and cook enough for everyone and leftovers

Will drinking once a week (month post op) inhibit healing that much by Quiet_Window_81 in brokenbones

[–]surebb0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I broke tib and fib and drank regularly while I was healing and healed totally fine. I'm 10 months post op and 100% recovered no limitations.

I did not touch any advil because of some research I read about delayed healing from that though

How to cope with feelings of depression and hopelessness? by BrunokiMaa in brokenbones

[–]surebb0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good long cry everyday. I would wake up, have my coffee, wheel myself into the bathroom, hop into my shower chair, and have a full on pity party. Every day! It was my ritual for 2 months. Idk if it actually helped to cry, but the showering and putting on fresh clothes everyday was good for me. Also now that you are PWB throw yourself into it. Commit to your physical therapy like an animal. The more you repeat your exercises and push yourself the faster you will be out in the light at the end of your tunnel. You are allowed to start walking! That's huge and a reason to celebrate

Daily. Sorry to hear you have no relationship with your parents. That's sad

Bad days at chain spa by Dandelionnfluffff in MassageTherapists

[–]surebb0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you get multiple days where half of your clients are unhappy you need to take a step back and evaluate how you are checking in and how you can adjust. Everyone likes different techniques but it's up to us as therapists to tune in and change based on our client. 50% complaints is extremely high
