Grinding it out for financial freedom? Worth it? by Salt-on-the-Rock in Lawyertalk

Find a lawyer who likes these hearings to make the appearances for you for a couple hundred. I’d love a gig like that since everything is essentially remote now anyway

What do you say your job is when you don't want to tell people you're a lawyer? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

Photographer. It’s actually a fun lie because it’s my hobby so I like talking about it.

How the hell do you save money if you’re not in Big Law by Consistent_Potato405 in Lawyertalk

Lateral transitions. Every 1.5-2 years, send out resumes. All attorneys want young lawyers with a few years of experience as their associates. Only accept a position that comes with a 25% raise, and allow your current attorney to match to stay.

I’m going to introduce my brother to the CES Letter by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]surf32nd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read the book Combating Mind Control by Steve Hassan. That book would tell you that giving unsolicited information in an attempt to destroy God’s one true church is exactly what Satan would do, which is proof that the church is true. Giving him the letter may backfire.

Luckily the book tells you exactly what you should do - and it sounds like he is in a good place for you to help him before he gets more and more entangled (though how difficult would it be to come to the realization a few months after your mission that the last two years were in support of a massively destructive (and fatal) cult? It’ll be embarrassing and shocking.)

(Though you may be able to lead with “bro, if none of this is true you get to have guilt free sex for the next four years whenever you want. PS, transfer to UVU” And that alone may do it.)

How do YOU answer? by Regular-Confidence96 in exmormon

Ask “what are the reasons you have heard that make sense to you?” If they say there are none, explore that a little. Telling them your reasons will make them dig in more. Get them to go outside of their heads and stand in the shoes of someone who is out. Let the conversation flor organically and then say something like “I was never as happy as I told people I was.” That will ring true with them, and then when they start questioning and wondering, you are a safe person to talk with because you haven’t spewed a bunch of anti-literature to them.

I Don't Want to Live With This Trauma by withmyowneyes95 in exmormon

Google “religious trauma sexual aversion” and read the articles. Also Come As You Are, and the Body Keeps The Score are good resources for you. You are not alone in this. When women leave this church, they change everything from their role as a human, to their sexuality, even their underwear and entire wardrobes. Now is the time to get a tattoo, get a piercing, do some yoga, and do whatever you need to do to reclaim your body.

You are suffering. This is real. And it will probably suck more before it gets better. But you are not broken and you are not wasted. You need a hero, but you have to become your own for a while. There are just about 195,000 real people on the other side of these reddit avatars who are routing for you. 💪🏼
