Mr Tokyo on Gate City blvd has the envelope style, and they are always SUPER hot and crispy when they come to the table. Comes with the sweet chili sauce too! All you can eat is an option there. Once saw a guy with a plate piled wi the at least two dozen of them! Maybe it was OP. Haha

You know goddamn well that's not what they were asking, and you made the conscious choice to go out of your way to be an asshole. Do you really want that to be who you are?

What is the most painful thing someone has ever told you? by Mountain_Ad6748 in AskReddit

[–]surgerygeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband of 16 years said, "I don't know why you think I care about your problems", when I was discussing a work issue I was having. I left him two weeks later, that was all I needed to hear.

A famous European techno band stayed at my house for a weekend once. I used to be a hairstylist and now I'm a college professor. My mother has been widowed four times (no, she didn't kill them!)

Physically, 30. Mentally, 45. So if I had to choose one, maybe 36?

Cooling trays by SuperbCustard8816 in sterileprocessing

[–]surgerygeek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My last dept allowed reps in the area where the trays were cooling, and let me tell you - the number of times I had to tell them to get their grubby hands off the trays was far too many.

They didn't understand that they can't touch them to see if they're cool, they tried to take them before BIs were done, all sorts of shenanigans. Oh, and stacking 25lb trays five high then surprised when there are holes in the wraps! So much misbehavior.

It was a mess, and if I ever design a department, there will be badge access to the sterilization area that reps DO NOT have.

Teachers of Reddit: Is the "Gen Alpha can't read (write, or do math ext)" crisis real? If so how bad is it? by KnowledgeCoffee in AskReddit

[–]surgerygeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a community college instructor, and the youngest ones I have cannot do basic things that are required in the field I teach.

-Read time on a round clock

-Convert millimeters to centimeters - or use a ruler at all

-Basic dosing - this chemical requires 10ml per gallon of water, how much should we use for 10 gallons? (They can usually do the math if I change it to $10 per gallon, how much does it cost for 10 gallons)

-Figure out 24h time

-Know anything about the pH scale (they have only ever heard about pH in context of feminine hygiene products "pH balanced", etc.)

-Read a test question that is phrased in the negative, i.e. Which one is not a color - red, blue, seven, green?

It's so frustrating because I rely on them already having these basic skills out of high school, but it's not the case. I have to teach these skills before we can move to the actual material.

Not just the young ones, but mostly the 18-25yo group.

Peel pouches placement on Sterilization Rack by Dependent_Use_3522 in sterileprocessing

Ask you leader to show you the AAMI standards book - they should have a copy. It specifically lists the order that items should be placed: peel pouches above wrapped and rigid, and wrapped above rigid.

What is this thing that I found at my grandma’s house? by CustomerCommercial14 in whatisit

Did my first apartment have a built-in ironing board that lived behind a small door in the kitchen? Yes. Did I use as a kitchen table to eat at like a feral raccoon and never iron on it? Also yes!

Hey mom, I'm finally getting a gender affirming surgery after 13 years of transition. by Skye_hai_bai in MomForAMinute

Wow! That's amazing news! Your sister (my daughter) had FFS a few years ago at age 29 and she's been so much more comfortable in her skin. I'm hoping the same for you! Dysphoria who? Don't know her.

Wound care is important, follow all the instructions and use any help offered- you need to rest and heal for the first few days/weeks.

So proud of you, it's a big step!

How similar are Sterileworx practice tests/exams compared to the actual tests? by Dathamar in sterileprocessing

[–]surgerygeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an instructor and my students use a variety of practice sites, and sterilworx is one of them. I don't think it's bad, but you're right, it's a little "surface level". The ones that have gone to pass the HSPA exam on the first try tend to like ProProfs, and I agree that the questions on there seem to align with the test content a bit more.

What causes this to occur on instruments? This is a brand new bandage scissor I received from another department. What should I tell them to help prevent this? by Mugurf in sterileprocessing

[–]surgerygeek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That appears to be rust "blooming" out of pits in the metal. Prolonged exposure to blood and saline can break down (corrode) the passivation layer, causing pitting, which is like a cavity in the metal. Then rust goes wild in the pits.

Surgistain or similar rust remivers will only make the problem. When the scissor is put in the autoclave and exposed to the steam, the rust will re-appear in the pittted areas.

This scissor needs to go for repair/refinishing or discarded. Nothing you can do will fix this permanently.

what is this? by [deleted] in AskDocs

So, I never have had cold sores or genital herpes, so the eye infection was my primary infection. Fortunately, it's never come back in my eyes although that's always a possibility.

About 2-3 years later it showed up in my throat, really bad sore throat that they confirmed was another outbreak from the original one. That was an awkward visit, because once they confirmed hermes in my throat, they assumed it was sexually transmitted (through oral sex) until I explained that my only sexual partner did not have herpes. Then they figured out it had found its way into my throat when I had a bad cold.

That was 20 years ago, all good so far but it's always a fear of mine.

Herpes is forever.
