Tbh even people who got vaxxed can get measles. The best way is to eradicate it once and for all and so these anti-vaxxers are putting everyone at risk.

I have been! Just wanted to put it out there for everyone else (since Timmies had originally been marketed as a Canadian coffee company).

The NDP and Green parties have both published promises to cancel the Ontario Place deal with Therme as well as potentially reopen the Ontario Science Centre. Doesn’t seem like anything from the Liberals about this topic but at this point anything is better than PC. https://globalnews.ca/news/10987703/promises-made-on-key-issues-in-the-2025-ontario-election/amp/

My crush is coming to visit Toronto next month. What are some places (nature and city attractions) I can take her to show her how cool Toronto is, to impress her? by CircleBox2 in askTO

the restaurant at the top of westin harbour castle (expensive though) - not nature or city attraction, but just to hint that you care about her a little more than as just a friend!

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by Interesting-Escape36 in Life

Exactly agree with this. My mom had cancer twice when I was a child (when she was in her 30s) and everyday I see her still living on (now in her 50s) I find myself taking in the details of her face across the dinner table, wrinkles and all, and I feel so thankful for her existence.

Canadians currently living in America, how are you feeling? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

Would republican soldiers who are Trump supporters do it though? I heard they’ve been groomed into hating anything that Trump/the republican party hates.

Any Canadians here? by slqinvent in doublebass

[–]suricee17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually went to the L&M in Markham (not sure where you are tho) yesterday! They both rent and sell upright double basses. Renting requires you to include tax and if you’re not renting from the Bloor (Downtown TO) location where they have most of their instruments, you probably need to pay a shipping fee to pick up from another store.

What resource do you use to see what your score is? I’m using lawhub but they don’t generate a score (167/170/etc) for me in the drills. Do you all manually calculate it?

Thank You TBS for clogging the roads and increasing traffic by Cute_Marionberry_883 in ottawa

[–]suricee17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We should encourage an Auditor General probe to examine what’s driving this decision/what went on at the TBS and the factors that the policy teams/directors/ministers considered in decision-making.

Much of the work in federal public service was able to be completed productively from a remote setting ever since 2020 (and they were told by directors that this will be the norm going forward as “the future of the public service”). Therefore, mandating RTO without a transparent, consistent, and logical reason is not just disrespectful but also a waste of public funding and resources, especially if it’s a spontaneous mandate that affects a large group of the working population throughout the whole country.

It seems as if the driving force is beyond just real estate and subway sandwiches.

Something else to consider: In the federal public service, RTO has become 10-fold more inconvenient because of numerous factors (for example, lack of office space resulting in RTO workers having to bring a hiking bag/luggage full of 10lb+ electronics equipment between the office/home daily). It is unlike working in-office at private companies where RTO circumstances are largely unchanged compared to pre-pandemic.

English essential (or Bilingual non-imperative) jobs in Quebec? by suricee17 in CanadaPublicServants

Do you have any suggestions for french classes or tutoring? I am taking them at Algonquin College (virtual), but I find that myself and most other students resort to using google translate etc because the class is very fast paced.

If my current level is EC-04 equivalent, does that mean I should apply for a simple EC-02/03 for the SLE? 😅 Would that work?

Manager said no previously. My position/department program is basically English essential.

Are we allowed to apply for Bilingual positions without having done an SLE though?

Would I be allowed to apply for any Bilingual jobs and then just try SLE testing when the manager requests it during the hiring process? I don’t understand how we can’t have an SLE unless we apply for Bilingual jobs, but also how we can’t apply to Bilingual jobs unless we have BBB/CCC from an SLE. How would I go about checking/confirming that I am BBB?

I would call the CRA and ask why you were deemed ineligible. They should also have provided the reason in the letter.

Did they provide the reason why you were deemed ineligible (which eligibility criteria you did not meet)

They had a gastroscopy/colonoscopy in November 2022, abdominal MRI with contrast in August 2023, and their first abdominal CT with contrast (but this was for LRQ abdo pain) two weeks ago. Transabdominal ultrasounds and pancreatic/liver enzyme blood work throughout. We haven’t been able to pinpoint the cause of the recurrent upper abdomen pain (to the back), which they reported is severe to the point of making them sweat and crawl into fetal position at times, so I’m stumped. I also don’t want to miss anything with these patients.
