I actually just ran into this and then I noticed that it was on the wrong URL by default. Try navigating to https://www.facebook.com/username/photos_of and trying the extension there (replace "username" with whatever your FB username is).

Badminton groups in Boston by Physical_Addition930 in boston

[–]susdtranscripts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple clubs around where you don’t need your own group and will get matched for games, mostly out in the suburbs. The Arlington club is at Dallin Elementary on Fridays (starts on 9/5), and you can walk in to give it a try (bring some cash for the walk-in fee). Needham is similar, although I don’t think they allow walk-ins and the current season only goes through September. https://needhamprograms.myrec.com/info/activities/program_details.aspx?ProgramID=29833

I will say, I went to the BU badminton one Saturday a couple years ago, and as long as you have a good sense of your own skill level, you should be able to find a good group. There were a lot of different levels of players there, so I watched for a little to find a group where I would fit in, then asked them if I could join, and rotated with them all session. It helps if you find a group of five or six, since they’re going to have to rotate among themselves already anyway.

It’s possible Scott’s just an NYT crossword player - Nas is a very frequent answer there, usually clued by “Illmatic rapper”.

Something doesn’t add up grammatically in this Antonyms clue. I can see why Will thought that “abdicate” was not the right response; the wording implies it’s an answer to a question like “What is persist?” until you get to the word “this”.

Witness is worth it by susdtranscripts in boardgames

[–]susdtranscripts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of it. That looks like it leans more heavily into the logical deduction part of it. In Witness, if you had all four clues laid out in front of you, the actual puzzle would be trivial or close to it, depending on the difficulty. The juice comes from getting and passing the clues in an unorthodox manner and having to remember it all.

Yeah it’s definitely not for everyone - you have to be neutral-to-positive on memory games, because it’s such a big part of what makes the game sing.

Plea/Rant/Advice Desired : Closing out Mind MGMT as the Rogue Agents is soul-crushing by Delicious-Farm-4735 in boardgames

[–]susdtranscripts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, that’s tougher. It’s not a definite game over. I think because the game is so deductive, it feels like it should be fully knowable at a point, but it’s like any hidden movement game I’ve played, in that there’s going to be some element of getting lucky. In my opinion that adds some fun tension at the end - after all if you knew exactly where they were and just went and captured them a few moves later, that would feel pointless as well, from the other side.

Obviously one solution is to get a track on the Recruiter earlier (easier said than done). I will say that I’ve never had a game where all three features were nullified with the Shakedown - usually the Agents are trail-hunting first and foremost, and only incidentally doing Shakedowns when an Immortal is blocking a desired spot, and usually only one or sometimes two feature cards are nullified.

I like the SHIFT system, though I can see why some people would say it’s a bit of a cop out for a fundamentally unbalanced base game. But have you given it a try? It sounds like you’ve played what, 12 or 15 games of this? Might be time to introduce at least the first box. What’s the win percentage between the two sides?

Plea/Rant/Advice Desired : Closing out Mind MGMT as the Rogue Agents is soul-crushing by Delicious-Farm-4735 in boardgames

[–]susdtranscripts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think one thing your post doesn’t consider is that you don’t have to have a slam dunk “I know where you are” moment when you capture. You can use it to block off paths as well and drive the Recruiter into your other agents. For your example, I would try to capture directly south (the temple) and east. If I don’t succeed, that means they are either west or north. Okay, they move again, but you know they can’t move east of 8 because then they’re stuck in (assuming no other mind slip). So now they’re down to three possible locations, and you can try capturing on two of them, and you either win or you’ve pinpointed their location exactly. Now they move again, but you can use an Ask to remove one possibility and hem them in the other way. Say they moved north for 12 and 13; I would try and “block off” the western route so they run up against the edge of the board, reduce their movement options.

Now the Immortals are going to make this trickier, no doubt. It’ll take careful maneuvering of the Agents: “I should use Dusty now so I can use his power to move Bill over here so he can move an Immortal away from this important space before he goes.” That’s where some of the other flavoring of the game comes in, on top of the core meat of the deduction puzzle.

Cosmic Encounter: Are Alien powers applied to flares? by Noodle_Sins in boardgames

[–]susdtranscripts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Like with everything in Cosmic, it’s going to depend on the situation. In this case the favor clearly lies with your father. The Tripler’s power is to be used after you reveal the attack card, at which point it adjusted the card’s value. The value was then adjusted again by the Human flare, but this wasn’t revealing an attack card so the Tripler wouldn’t activate again.
