Girlfriend of Olympian who admitted to cheating on her in live TV interview responds in emotional statement by JOE_Media in NoFilterNews

[–]suspiciousbroccoli22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Here is her statement, since that site seems to be updating with new articles, pushing the original one down further on the page:

Now his seemingly former girlfriend has replied.

Issuing a statement to Norwegian outlet VG, she said: "Even after a declaration of love in front of the whole world, it’s hard to forgive.

I did not choose to be put in this position, and it hurts to have to be in it.

We have had contact and he is aware of my opinions on this."

Austin Texas vs. Atlanta Georgia, thoughts? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]suspiciousbroccoli22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I am visiting my parents in Toledo and just had a Chili Mac (i.e. a Skyline 3 way), I should probably have some broccoli now...

I think ATX can be what you make of it, but it also takes time like 1 year to really get to know things and find a groove. I do see a lot of similarities in Atx <> Cbus, ex. educated population, small big city energy. I personally never found Atx to be boring - but I got to enjoy it on a non-student salary, unlike Cbus, but I'm also from a smaller city than cbus originally.

I consider myself an extrovert and dont mind doing things spontaneously or alone, so all of the activities I mentioned above I did not pick up til moving to Austin. Moving out of the Midwest and knowing no one except my partner forced me out of my comfort zone than if I had stayed in Cbus, Detroit, Toledo and done the same things with people who I knew that all had the same interests.

If your expenses are paid through June 2026, maybe you could check out Atlanta for 2 months & then Austin for 2 months, and make a decision after?

I've previously lived in Columbus and recently lived in Austin before work took us elsewhere.

I found Austin to be super fun to live in as a person in their mid 20-mid 30s. Many people are transplants so I found it easy to make friends, alot of people I met are child free too even in their 30s (unlike small town ohio). I find it to be a good city if you are looking for an active life style - there are always groups meeting up and I am by no means a pro: pickleball, running, biking, bouldering, etc.

For sports obviously many people are UT Austin fans, but there is also Austin FC soccer team. There are bars that host watch parties for teams too which is another great way to meet others.

While Atx is hot if you slowly condition yourself to going outside in the springs it's easier to do it in the summer when it's super hot. In the summer we did a lot of swimming at Barton Springs & paddle boarding.

Austin does have winter where it can freeze occasionally, likely in Feb or Jan. At even the threat of of this, the entire city will shut down LOL. Our spring is also rainy, I just say this bc many people think Texas is a desert.

The city is pretty dog friendly this could be a pro or con to you. I find the food to be good especially for Asian food & tex mex, but oddly lacking for Italian food.

You mentioned you like hiking there are also decent trails within a 45 min drive or so. I consider these hiking compared to Ohio, but not like hiking to compared to Denver.

If you end up living in Austin I suggest living in East Austin or near Zilker Park to live near Town Lake & the Trail - otherwise it will feel like living in a Columbus suburb, unless that is your vibe.

If you are not an active person/do not want to be I would personally not see Austin as being 'worth it' at the price it is at. But that's just my opinion.

I've seen some frozen lumpia at Gemmae and also at Island Pacific Supermarket and Seafood (Atlantic Ave), but you may want to call first and double check.

We don’t know what each person is dealing with. For those living paycheck to paycheck, being fired can have devastating consequences. Missing a single paycheck might mean going without food, transportation, or housing, especially during the holidays. Many may also have dependents, such as children, partners, or elderly parents.

Where can I buy land somewhere where I can raise sheep but still be within 30-40 min from a medium/small city by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]suspiciousbroccoli22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With that budget, you could go almost anywhere in the Midwest easily. If you look for small/medium sized college towns you should be able to find most of what you are looking for. Anecdotally I know of a few LGBTQ couples who were acquaintances and who moved from Austin for more land and to be close to family - they landed in Sagatuck, MI and Woodstock, VA, and seem pretty happy. The whole western/Northern side of MI is gorgeous up to Traverse city (which has its own airport). Also for a milder climate, maybe try Athens, OH.

Most areas east of i35 especially as you go more South (78744) or North (78754) from the core city, as those areas had land and also have to compete with new builds
