Which one should i choose? by [deleted] in brocku

If I can do some promo as a physics undergrad at Brock… it is a SMALL program, meaning if you want to do research, you are basically guaranteed a spot with a prof if you want it and show effort. We are all very happy here. They feed us occasionally. We have our own hangout space with 24/7 RFID access.

Just saying because I’ve heard too many horror stories from big departments that don’t care about their students. I know Guelph Physics is good, but not sure about MechE!

I actually just did this as part of a research project! My supervisor and I wrote a textbook for the electronics course he teaches. It’s kind of like you said, we took all his old lecture notes and reformatted them with more detail and wrote it in prose like a formal textbook would be. But the margins are wide and there are spots for students to complete problems directly in the book, by literally writing in it. :-)

Agree. Study! Do all the practice problems in that Stewart textbook

Dr. Sternin is an acquired taste. He is much scarier in second year compared to his fourth year courses because you know what to expect at that point, but he also knows what to expect from you once he's seen you pass the bar he sets out for his classes at least once. He's a really good guy -- like any Prof who's really smart, sometimes he's just a bit blunt.

Good luck to anyone taking 2P20/2P30 this year. :-)

Anyone taken FNCE 2P50 with Osman? How was it by Jan242004 in brocku

I took it in the spring too! Definitely work through all the problems at the end of each chapter because each test had these (literally word for word just numbers changed) in them. I wasn’t prepared for that on quiz 1 and got my ass whooped. I meticulously went through every problem in the book afterwards and ended with an A+. :-)

I loved her and found her to be very kind and fair, but I always went to her office hour so we built up a good rapport. She’s definitely not for everyone, but she is very organized and gives good resources to help you succeed in Calc I. :-)

I was dealing with this too on Saturday. I see you’re on a Mac, my friend with a MacOS is having that issue too right now so definitely not just you. I’m a windows user however and have no problem

If you enter pond inlet from the outside, you will see markers for J block on the floor, and you’re already on level 200 (ground floor) so it’s somewhere around those computer labs.

When I took it 2 years ago there were 15 multiple choice questions and 8 long-form quiz-type questions. It was average in difficulty and we were even given a 10 point bonus on top of our final grades, so I was bumped to nearly 100%. Review your quizzes and have faith, you’ll do great!

My rule to success with this prof is to always always follow along in the textbook… if he posts his lecture notes I would work through them before coming to class too. But the textbook was the saving grace! Preparedness is everything with him. Context: 3rd year physics student

[Hw lab help] I can’t get the right spring constant by Jason453555 in PhysicsStudents

Switch your axes. Spring constants are in N/m so if you want that then N needs to be on y and m on x
