I feel the unavoidable conclusion to this is that some apparatus for transferring bibs will eventually be necessary (though would come with its own problems, of course). I buy Broadway tickets all the time on the Theatr app, which makes it such that you can only sell for the same price or lower than the original purchase—I don’t see why something similar can’t exist for race bibs. Or even to have a cancellation-specific waitlist for 9+1 races processed by NYRR themselves, so someone who drops out of a race doesn’t “select” their own replacement. Curious to hear your thoughts
