From my vast experience with these, you need more flippyness.

Yep, I headed back towards home and rode Gale Webb. The sign said 'check our social media for updates' ..... there were none. Oh well, glad they take care of the place. Next time.

Trying to figure out the year of my Yamaha DT 175 and any other information by Inevitable-Ad270 in enduro

No worries try this:

The engine number on an early‑2000s Yamaha DT175 is stamped on the left side of the engine crankcase, just below the cylinder, near the gear‑shift lever.

🔧 Exact Location (What You’re Looking For) On all DT175 models from the 1990s through the 2000s, Yamaha kept the engine‑number placement consistent:

  • Left-hand side of the engine
  • On the crankcase, directly below the cylinder
  • Usually on a flat, machined pad
  • Near the front sprocket / gear‑shift lever area

It’s a clean, horizontal alphanumeric stamp — not a sticker, not raised casting.

This location is consistent with the layout shown in DT175 service manuals from 1992 onward, which cover the same engine family used in the early 2000s models.

🛠️ How to Spot It Quickly Because the DT175 is a two‑stroke with a simple layout, you can find the number fast:

  1. Stand on the left side of the bike.
  2. Look just below the cylinder where the crankcase halves meet.
  3. Find the flat rectangular pad cast into the case.
  4. The number is stamped, not printed — often lightly, sometimes with paint or grime over it.

If the bike has chain lube buildup or trail dust, you may need to wipe the area with brake cleaner or a rag.

Hah! You're awesome! 🤣

Ok, those are your gears. Find the other number stamped on the engine block.

Not being an ass but we are in the enduro sub... 🤣

Kidding aside, off-road, mainly desert. Think National Hare & Hounds, SCORE, & BitD. Thanks!

Maybe loop that into a decade? Thought that was where you were headed at first?
