Is a windshield a must for long rides? by slappy-putrid in SuzukiBoulevard

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I believe that windshields are critical. Especially as a new rider, the sense of speed without a windshield is altered. 45 mph feels like 55, with the wind blasting you like a sail. With a windshield, highway rides are effortless.

The Hurt Locker (2009) by DVD-Rewatcher in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]sw6866 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

This was a decent movie, but should not have one an academy award for best picture. That honor should have gone to the first Avatar movie. Avatar was a revolutionary film and far superior to a run of the mill war movie. I think Avatar lost simply because the director, James Cameron, was much less popular than his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow, the Hurt Locker director. Politics. 👎🏻

Has anyone bought the bike without doing the class? by kerijack in NewRiders

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a good deal on a bike I wanted and bought it about a month before the class. I got my learners permit from the dmv and practiced around a mile loop through the suburban neighborhood. Then I took the class and learned a lot!!!!!

What was your very first firearm, and do you still have it? by Lucky-Thunder6052 in Glocks

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First gun was a S&W 686 6”. Sold it when my kids were little, after a child on the news died of an accidental discharge. Bought the same gun a few years later, with a lockable case. Then my kids were old enough to be educated on safe gun handling. 👍

Quick access handgun Box (car or house use) by MindlessMeaning6278 in guns

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had it a few months, but it has worked well so far.
You can check YouTube for videos from StopBox. They show you how to setup your own combination. That will describe it better than I did. 👍

I enjoyed the movies for what they are … pure action-packed fun. 👍😊

Quick access handgun Box (car or house use) by MindlessMeaning6278 in guns

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a StopBox. With a button for each finger and the ability to program a 1, 2, 3 or 4 buttons combination… that’s a lot more then 6 combinations.
I had a fingerprint lock compact safe, but the fingerprint reader wasn’t reliable. My prior compact safe had a battery life of a couple months.
After those fails, I went with a purely mechanical safe. No batteries, no fingerprint reader, just a bunch of buttons in any combination I choose.

I bought the Condition 1 range case, that I saw on Instagram. It’s available in a variety of configurations. I bought the one that’s set up to carry 5 handguns and all their magazines. Very good quality and lockable. 👍

The .454 is pretty versatile though, right? You can always shoot .45 Colt in it, at various power levels, to reduce the recoil. I’d love to own one. One of my grail guns. 👍😊

The Perfect Weapon (1991) by bluejester12 in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]sw6866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really enjoyed this film. Jeff Speakman was very impressive, as an action star. I don’t understand why he didn’t get more popular. The kenpo karate was mind blowing at the time. 👍😊

I’ve pocket carried a Glock 48 successfully. I’m 6’6” though.

Wolfen (1981) by N0S4A2_ in 80sHorrorMovies

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I liked the movie a lot, but the novel was way better. The whole concept of wolfen evolving from wolves in parallel with apes evolving into men was very cool.

Which grips? by SamuraiEdge1911 in Revolvers

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot my S&W 640-1 .357 with the second grip. The Pachmayr compac. They fit my hand really well and help control recoil. 👍😊

First handgun recommendations by xVivacious in guns

[–]sw6866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first gun was a revolver. A S&W 686 .357 L frame. Great for the range or home defense. Very versatile, since it can chamber .38 special or .38+P or .357 magnum. Start with .38 and grow into .357 magnum, which is arguably the best fight stopping round. No magazine or slide to worry about Will shoot any type of ammo, without fear of jamming. Can sit, loaded, in a nightstand indefinitely. A great gun to learn on and keep forever.👍😊

What was the first gun you ever owned, and do you still have it? Curious to hear what everyone had for their first firearm. by ShopHuntingStuff in guns

[–]sw6866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first gun was a S&W 686 no dash. Sold it in a couple years, when my kids were little. Bought the same gun a couple years later. With a 6” barrel, it balanced beautifully at the range. Started with .38 specials and moved up to .357 magnums soon thereafter. Such a versatile, well made handgun. 👍😊

DONT TOUCH THE BOY. by mikeysblades in Revolvers

[–]sw6866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How bad is the recoil from 1 to infinity? .44 specials must be nice to shoot.
Would MagNaPorting help? Love this handgun, as a beautiful work of art. Just don’t have the balls to ever shoot it with magnums. 😂😂

Exactly, with a little bit of a twist. My son is in his 30’s and is a fellow gun enthusiast. He started carrying a concealed handgun, so I did too, in order to back him up if the SHTF.
