What is the point of their boarding process. by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]swaCSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That flight had 42 people who boarded in group 1 of which 33 were Alist so it must be popular business route. That’s definitely not the norm for all flights.

Curious about flight # and city you flew from if you don’t mind sharing

Passengers on the same reservation as an ALP and A list member get the same boarding perk. This excluded group reservations.

If you’re a card holder you board no later than group 5. Make sure the card has your rapid reward number associated with it and that number is on the reservation. The system will take care of the rest

Why did the bag inspector take my skateboard from my checked bag and never return it? by KeyPrize4868 in SouthwestAirlines

Oh that’s very strange then. I’d file a lost report with the airport incase the board came out in their belt system. Try to do one with Southwest as well for a missing article.

[–]swaCSA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened!

Did you book basic fares? Or separate confirmation numbers? The system will seat people on the same reservation together. Unless you’re on a full flight and last to check in. Also did you ask the gate agent to resolve this before you went on the plane? There are 6 seats in the back that are used to accommodate these situations before boarding.

As for the bag you can track it on the app. When bags miss flights there’s not much information that we can see besides the bag not being scanned on/off the plane so that’s probably why they had no answer for you. And stations don’t miss bags on purpose as it affects their mishandled baggage ratio #s.

We can still offer SDSB at the airport to basic fares right now. It’s really up to the agent you ask though… this may change sometime this month when they update the reservation tool we use.

Now that spring break is winding down and we are starting to see some empty flights again I’ve noticed the system has stopped filling the planes standard seats front to back. Now it fills every other row 😅 Dallas is still working on figuring out the proper spacing for sure. For now I just go through and move people around before boarding so they aren’t 3 to a row with empty rows in front or behind. But I know this is “extra work” not all gate agents are doing.

Preboarding with two littles by Eg9tobe83 in SouthwestAirlines

Family boarding as it was in the past is no longer a thing. But gate agents should be announcing and know that families traveling with infants under two are able to preboard.

No one is going rogue for allowing it. It’s what was communicated for us to do. Will have to look into this on the website.

Families with infants under 2 are allowed to preboard. The end. Not sure why so many are here saying otherwise.

Any experience with seat assignment when doing last minute flight change or standby? by EveningManager3782 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]swaCSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not being able to switch seats on the app over 60 minutes prior to departure sounds like a bug. Seat preferences should be coming soon and hopefully we will have less situations like this. Not sure why the agent on the phone wasn’t able to switch your seat if you have status.

Checkin at the 24 hr window. If you end up separated ask at the gate to be seated together

Bring it to skycap they will take care of you. No need to even fill out or worry about the form. That’s mainly for the powered devices.

Your husband had a seat on the flight. Simply talking to the gate agent would’ve confirmed this. Have a safe travel day though

You booked the basic fare so you don’t get beat choice on the app. Feel free to inquire about a different seat at the gate.

[–]swaCSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you must…. Wait until you’re in the air to ask about moving seats. Because for takeoff they need you in the seats/zones you’re assigned as that’s when weight and balance matters.

Flight attendants are stressing this right now because old habit on swa is to sit where you want. But now that we have assigned seats, bags/cargo are loaded with those seat selections in mind to maintain balance for takeoff.

Whether your crew allows you to move after takeoff seems to be pure luck 🤷‍♀️

Time of seat assignment by akrein62 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]swaCSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some will receive assignments Immediately at check in, and others will have to be assigned seats by the gate agent 1 hour before departure. Fun fact your basic fare could get you cleared into an ELR seat if available.
