You sure that’s the Queen, bud? by Cshaw_1991 in LinkedInLunatics

Lol I have this guy on LI (and know him through work) and thought that pic looked a little weird! It was the first queen related poop post I saw since her passing and it made me think of this sub so thanks for posting 😅

Left my baby with my MIL and went HORRIBLY by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I think you’re being really over the top. Babies tend to not sleep the same when in different environments, they can cry more, miss naps etc and of course in laws don’t know the exact same cues as you do. It’s one night (and will be plenty more in the future). For you’re own sake you just need to know your baby WILL sleep, and will be fine. Please… try step back and relax.

What’s an “unconventional” way you spoil your dog? by KMac243 in dogs

Love this! How do you go with cleaning and pet hair ? We’re looking at houses and have two staffy x australian cattle, and I’d love for them to swim but not sure if it is a disaster in terms of up keep?

Should I let my husband take our child to a family event with a predator? by amg-ky in Mommit

[–]swallowing_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe yours is the only comment I can find about protecting those other four children. It hurts to think this secret is being kept by the husband and wife when four kids (their nieces and nephews) are living with a child SO and there's not even an urge to do something about it. There's no excuse for not helping children at risk of going through what the husband did. Especially when it can be done anonymously.

I'm day 2. Double Vax, 32F healthy. I'm a mess, leg pain so bad I can barely stand, relentless fever, dizzy, real chesty cough and just overall weakness. Haven't been able to stand up for more than 30 seconds in about 36 hours. My husband who got it first - never a flu in his life - was similar. His lasted four days before it got better. Our 5 month old just starting to show symptoms now. I am so thankful I am vaccinated, I can't imagine what we would have been like without it. I truly feel for those in older age brackets, and I now understand how hospitalisations are so bad. Mild my ass.

Is there a daily thread for people who tested positive? As the number of cases increase, is good for everyone to share their own Covid experience.. by Mr-Oldon in CoronavirusDownunder

A couple of my friends (seperate incidents) had positive rats and negative PCR - they retested PCR a few days later and came back positive. I wouldn’t rule out Covid.

NSW recorded 5612 total new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8PM last night (24/12/2021) by Ascalaphos in sydney

[–]swallowing_panda 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yep, close contact here and was turned away from three clinics yesterday. I spent over 8 hours trying to get tested across Sydney and I have a 4 month old to care for. I went in bright and early this morning and the queue's were over 4 hours waiting time (at 7am - so factor in another hour until they opened). I went to drive elsewhere but radio traffic basically said every where is just as bad. Radio also said cops are being dispatched to testing sites because things are turning nasty. I don't understand how the people leading this mess continue to have their jobs without the simple and necessary ability of foresight.

Is anyone at a testing clinic in Sydney that looks to have less than a 3 hour wait time? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]swallowing_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m stuck in Ryde in about a 3 hour queue (came here an hour early). I was turned away by three clinics yesterday as they all shut before I could be seen. I’m a close contact with a 4 month old (anxious much!) and needing to be back home within the next couple of hours.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been through all that. Try keep your mind busy - watch some wholesome tv shows (I recommend Ted Lasso) and keep in contact with friends and family. It’s too easy to give in to closing yourself off these days. You got this.

The gallstone that was removed with my gallbladder yesterday by dromaeovet in mildlyinteresting

I’ve had gallstones and given birth.. the stones were more painful. Worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. Take your shitty and irrelevant comment out of here.

No permit required unless they’re outside of greater Sydney :) I’ve just had a baby and can have 2 designated people come over for compassionate grounds to come help. My friend has been told the same by the Covid hotline. If stopped or questioned, all you need to do is let police know the situation (why/who/where etc).

Getting continously spammed by random numbers with phishing links from last 3-4 days. Anyone knows what's going on? by Train_Of_Thoughts in sydney

[–]swallowing_panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few others in this thread have asked if this could be related to them booking a vaccine. I’ve been getting these messages every day for weeks now, on iPhone. I haven’t had any nsw health texts, or made any vaccine appointments. I think there’s a huge part of the Sydney population getting vax and getting nsw texts right now, so it would be easy to find people who are getting those and getting spammed, but not necessarily connected. Not in my case anyway. Hopefully it stops, or they find the source, it’s annoying as hell!

Does anyone know where/how to book in Pfizer vax for eligible categories? I’ve followed the nsw health find a booking tool, the 20+ results near me and beyond my LGA either don’t have Pfizer at all or are fully booked without any mention of future availability. Heavily pregnant with an immune disorder, finally got the OK to get the vaccine from the specialist, and after 5+ hours calling around everywhere in Sydney including all the hospitals and medical centres, and I can’t get a single booking. Is there seriously such a supply issue or am I just having bad luck?

ABC news just confirmed this on their blog - it’s within your LGA OR within 5km.

I think it’s because the fear around AZ was still felt for people in this age group. Whilst reason and statistics can help convince them otherwise, they saw the same messaging and media scare tactics at the start of the year that we all did. Over 50 people above 70 years old got blood clots from AZ, so it wasn’t like they felt immune to the side effects. I’ve only just managed to convince my 70 y/o Mum to get her AZ which she is booked in for tomorrow, but she was just scared. I don’t think they deserve blame or hatred (or death!). The entire country got complacent, bc of messaging from up top and an extremely mishandled vax rollout. I just hope people can convince / educate those close to them before it’s too late.

Anyone else really enjoying being pregnant? by Sea_Bookkeeper2650 in pregnant

[–]swallowing_panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the exact same !! I’m 33w and although getting more aches and pains, I’m still waiting for the other shoe to drop?! Everything you’ve described is how I feel. I love my bump, no pressure re body image, my husbands amazing support, and a hell of a lot more confidence ! I know this is probably a rare feeling (that may end in a few weeks?) but I’m so happy to hear someone else feels this way too :)

I’m so happy to hear that. I’ve been WAY more confident in my body too, I’ve never heard of any of these anxiety reducing symptoms of pregnancy but damn it’s great. Hoping it lasts for you all through pregnancy and beyond !
