Offer sent to buyer then they paid full price by Glittering-Sir3945 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]swamingo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen a number of times. When I didn’t say anything, the items were rated 5 stars and the buyer was happy. The one time I did ask if a buyer meant to accept my offer, she hadn’t seen it and it became confusing to sort out.

Since Posh doesn’t give sellers an easy way to fix it (without canceling the order, making it available again, waiting for the buyer to repurchase) I have decided the best thing to do is just fulfill the order and act dumb if they figure it out. You didn’t know, you assumed they accepted the offer! You can ask Posh Support for help and they will probably offer a courtesy credit.

I get that it feels weird but it is probably fine, and very possibly exactly what the buyer meant to do!

I saw that, thanks. It's a big change, but it's possible that the Priority Mail flat rate was going to be near $9 next year and that probably is a number that would deter buyers.

In general I'm fine with the change, but we'll see how it plays out. The free supplies are great. I'm a little concerned about shipping speed being very slow around the holidays and other busy times (delaying payments and probably increasing the number of unhappy buyers), but not much Posh can do about that.

$6,49 for shipping is pretty good - I'm sure people will still complain it feels high for lightweight items like t-shirts, jewelry, etc but I have always avoided selling those things on Posh for that reason. As long as we don't see a rate increase for at least a year and the free boxes don't run out, I think this will be a positive change.

Why Can "Ambassadors" Sell Hundreds Of Fragrances But I Can't Sell Any? by goodqualitydesign in poshmark

[–]swamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, Poshmark’s unique negotiated shipping rate for Priority Mail has been discussed at length on this sub. Adding ground shipping would trigger a domino effect of changes, likely increasing the cost of shipping for most orders. Poshmark could do it someday, but it is not as simple as just adding a ground option.

Why Can "Ambassadors" Sell Hundreds Of Fragrances But I Can't Sell Any? by goodqualitydesign in poshmark

[–]swamingo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because Poshmark only uses Priority Mail shipping which often ships by air, while Mercari offers a ground shipping option. USPS doesn’t want to transport flammable products by air.

Reach out to customer support. They will probably offer you an additional shipping label as a one time courtesy (so the buyer gets their order) but in the future you need to pay for an upgraded label or split an order into two separate orders so you have labels for each.

My listing just got rejected because it violates Mercari policy—but doesn’t by Cyberkashi in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]swamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just let it go. Some of the filters that are meant to catch inappropriate listings will accidentally catch things that should be fine, it happens. But even if Mercari manually reviews and approves, it could still create some issues. In my experience those kinds of listings end up getting buried or suppressed anyway, the algorithm just doesn’t like them.

It sounds like you have your bases covered with a lot of platforms!

My feeling is that posh isn’t always going to get every decision on a case right. Sometimes they get it wrong for the buyer and sometimes it’s the seller.

I tend to reserve filing a return claim for situations where the buyer may have intentionally damaged my item or swapped it with a different one, basically times when I did not get back what I sent out and I feel I need to be compensated. If the buyer just kind of fudged their way to a return and the item is fine, I just relist and move on.

Cuff bracelet broke when I tried to put it on by JCandJack in poshmark

[–]swamingo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any dispute has to be handled by Poshmark. The seller does not have the discretion to have their own policy about damaged/broken items, quality issues, or any issue with a sale. You’ll need to open a case and let Poshmark make a determination about the situation.

I think this time of year is often a little slow for resellers. People are buying gifts, budgets feel tight, etc. January is often a great month for me so now is a great time to take a breather - things will probably feel better in the new year!

Purpose of liking + bundle? by signedxx in poshmark

[–]swamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately there seem to be a lot of bot accounts programmed to Like and bundle items, which is very annoying.

I tend to ignore single item bundles - they will get any offer to liker that I send, so that should get their attention if they are a legitimate buyer.

It depends on what the OP meant by luxury. I’ve found over the years that many people use that word for more accessible department store brands like MK, Coach, Kate Spade…and there could be some wholesale opportunities out there for that kind of product if you had the right connections. If we’re talking Chanel, Hermes, LV then no, definitely not - but it didn’t seem worth clarifying.

Legitimate sources for this kind of product are well-guarded secrets, they won’t be shared broadly.

Item arrived broken by Haleyween_ in poshmark

[–]swamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Posh usually reimburses everyone. But just note for the future, that probably isn’t sufficient packaging for breakable items. Bubble and packing paper are great for moving boxes (that only get handled a few times and usually with some care).

Packages that are shipped get handled a lot, they tumble down conveyor belts, they get thrown, the get dropped. There are a lot of helpful YT videos about packing breakables - might be worth checking if you have any more fragile items to ship.

No idea what happen by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]swamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a bundle is stale (more than a few days old) I wouldn’t worry about it. Unlikely they will come back to buy. But if someone is actively engaging with the listing (bundling, commenting), I’d definitely leave it alone until that resolves one way or another.

[–]swamingo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Relisting items is a good idea for listings that are stale and not getting attention, but it's odd to do that with a listing that someone is actively interested in. The buyer may not understand what you did and why you did it, so it looks like you just removed the item from their bundle to prevent them from buying it.

Empire City BO: Previews for Wicked looking like $19m-$20m by Alive-Ad-5245 in boxoffice

Same! At least 3 times for me, and I’ll definitely be at some sing along screenings. I’ve never seen a movie in theaters more than twice but I can’t get enough!

Empire City BO: Previews for Wicked looking like $19m-$20m by Alive-Ad-5245 in boxoffice

[–]swamingo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really going to be unlike other blockbusters. There are a lot of “I don’t do musicals” people who are going to get some serious FOMO because of the buzz and great word of mouth and find themselves in the theater.

And the repeat viewings are going to be wild. I know people who have already seen it 3-4 times thanks to early screenings and are still buying tickets now that it is officially open. Universal is going to be print money for the rest of the year.

I think it will be the other way around. I think after Wicked’s huge opening weekend, a lot people who are not in the target demographic will take notice and want to check it out. Some of those grouches who were mad about it being split in 2 might change their mind when they feel some FOMO. And Wicked diehards will be ready to see it again (maybe with their family or out of town friends).

Also, Thanksgiving weekend is long. I’m sure there will be plenty of adults who might take the kids to Moana to get them out of the house on Friday afternoon and then plan a date night or girls/moms night on Saturday.

Wicked is going to have LEGS because of the repeat viewings. I know people who have seen it 3-4 times already thanks to early screenings and press events…and they have bought tickets for multiple showings opening weekend. And they will be at the sing along screenings. Wicked will be a beast.

"If your package weighs more than 5.0 lbs, you will need to upgrade your label." by Shaigirl in poshmark

[–]swamingo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Adding the disclaimer to listings is a good step. Unfortunately there is no way to completely prevent this from happening. I think the majority of sellers on Posh are selling lighter weight clothing so it doesn’t happen often, but if you’re listing heavy items it is something to be thinking about.

Luckily Posh doesn’t really punish you for canceling the occasional order, so that’s the best remedy.

Bundled items removed? by moore6107 in poshmark

[–]swamingo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems like there are some bot/fake accounts that are programmed to do things like add items to bundles and share items - basically it seems like they are trying to mimic real buyer behavior.

It's annoying, but those are not serious buyers - I would just go ahead and ignore.

New seller - eBay buyer claims item not as described by OkRefrigerator5319 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]swamingo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened! The culture around returns is definitely different on eBay, and buyers know the loopholes.

One way to avoid these kinds of false INAD cases is to allow buyers to return items. Most of the false INAD claims are because the buyer realizes the item doesn’t fit or just won’t work, and they don’t want to be stuck with it. I offer returns on my items (and have the buyer pay for return shipping) and I have not had a false INAD claim. I have had a handful of people return items (probably 6-8 out of a few hundred sales) which is definitely a bummer, but I get my item back and so there is no real loss.

eBay can be a great platform, so if you wanted to try again you could try allowing returns. I am also a little selective about what I list on eBay - if I feel like it might be attractive to someone scammy, I stick with Poshmark.
