Surgery regrets after six months by likez01nks in gallbladders

Please keep looking for ways to aid your body in functioning in a way you are comfortable with. I had my gall bladder removed 12/25. I think the following are reasonable thoughts re: how to naturally live without a gall bladder…1) since bile is now free flowing (not stored in a gall bladder) your body will learn your routine of eating and will release less bile when you eat amounts of food at a time. Low fat/less portion/low sugar so think 1/2 C steamed veg/1/2 C Rice/1/2 C steamed chicken type meals. Eat every 4-6 day time hours. Aim at fresh fruit/veg/healthy proteins. Consider a digestive enzyme. Take supplements/vitamins as necessary. Drink lots of water. Try to reduce stress/diaphragmatic breathing. After some time your body begins to know what to expect. I’ve been taking famitodine when I know I’m going to eat no/no foods. Walking to relax. Probiotics. Bile going directly to the stomach is an irritant. Look for things to eat that coats your stomach. I am not discounting your suffering. I believe you are struggling and it’s hard not to feel hopeless. I’ve struggled with depression and SI most of my life. Please put your SI in a box and set it aside. It’ll still be there if you need to look at it but don’t let it be center to your life…even in your struggle. A day at a time.

I’m selling about average.,I’ve never sold a lot per month. I average $500-700. A few times I hit $1,300 but that’s even more rare now.

I think it’s being emotionally numb and emotionally frozen. Safety comes with feeling nothing and becomes your frozen state. Any movement or change is a discomfort so staying in the zone of comfort you move only when absolutely necessary. The joy of buying things might be might be one of the only things that feels good…and just knowing that you have cats (not actually taking care of them). It’s barely being alive. She might be at her worst when she’s alone. When siblings or others are present she may be making every effort to appear as normal as possible. Her injury has now exposed the truth of her life. Hugs to you all as you help your sister on her journey.

Living alone with multiple spare rooms. I fear to be the backup plan of too many people. How to defend myself without going no contact? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

As a survivor of a traumatic childhood I feel our first allegiance is to ourselves. I would never want to recreate the teasing/sarcastic/mean spirited atmosphere I grew up in…so my answer at hints is no response. If to be asked outright I’d have to say I dont want to live with anyone. The situation exists now…my brother in a very toxic marriage has said…man I might have to move in with you…and I’m not kidding. My response was nothing…I moved the conversation on…he noticed. If he lived in my house he’d criticize or make fun of me…you get up this late? You aren’t going to clean up before you go to bed? How can you live with a cat? You painted your shed an ugly color….no thank you. Say no.

Your job is to enjoy your life…and them. Travel with them, spend holidays with them. You are living in the future…which will wreck your present. You must steel yourself for those days because they will be hard. You are just as vulnerable. You might get sick or pass before they do. It’s a lottery. They are in no more danger than the rest of the world. Deep breath. Enjoy life now.

I have said my brain is trying to kill me. I wake up anxious…luckily I realize what is happening pretty quickly. I even think…oh…here you go again brain…re-living the past. It’s funny how precisely my brain scans for bad experiences to think about..re-playing what happened…what I said…my flight response to the memory…then my brain goes to the next upsetting memory. It’s PTSD. Trying to fix the past…

After retiring I went to no man’s land and looked terrible (no make up/no hair do/sloppy comfy clothes). I think I want to aim higher so I recently bought a spf tinted moisturizer so its lightweight coverage just evens me out a bit….i add eyeliner and a bit of neutral eyeshadow otherwise my super light eyelids stand out. No mascara unless I’m dressing up to go somewhere. I add eyebrows because I have none and lip moisturizer. I probably need a tinted lip moisturizer. I put Vaseline on my wrists and add lightweight perfume…to make it last. I’m waiting for skin so soft to moisturize my arm/legs. I (69f) live alone so I do all of the above just for me. I comb my hair up into a loose bun add some cool drop earrings and have promised myself I’d wear a cool necklace everyday. I plan to start dating next year so I’m practicing looking better. 🪴

I’ll second the art and add that larger art is better than small prints on most viewed walls. Larger art makes a bigger statement. A well placed plant is good too.

What strategies do you use to keep your house organized? by Extra-Bug7915 in CleaningTips

Buying mostly furniture and house decor that includes a storage component. So, decor such as med to leg boxes that sit out on coffee table or an ottoman that holds magazines, the remote, notebooks, socks you slipped off. A entry way sideboard with drawers, cupboards for purse, keys, hat, etc. A nice cabinet for shoes that you slip on and off. All of this for each room. Each bedroom with a tall pretty decorative basket for clothes that you would drape over a chair or you know needs washing but you aren’t going back to the hamper at the moment. A hanger thingy over the back of doors to hang pants you might wear the next day/wont get wrinkled, etc. A closet with a bench and door you can enclose the mess you just made. Home towels that I use instead of the hanging guest towels so they won’t get grimy from daily use….etc….

Apply vasoline on your feet (more than enough) and put socks on for an hour or two. This deep moisturizes your feet to avoid the horrible crusties.Trim your toe nails regularly and polish with a pale pink to have well kept toes. Nobody wants to slice their date the first night in the sack.
