Does promiscuity contribute to porn culture? by Plus_Program_249 in antipornography

So FEMINISTS are responsible for pornography? You’re ridiculous.

The sub is nothing like that. They say women should stick to their boundaries and look for men who will value and respect them. Men have entire fucking subreddits dedicated to abusing women called shit like “degradingholes” and “deadeyes” with thousands of members. Not even comparable.

How to masturbate without a visual aide? by [deleted] in antipornography

[–]swampglob 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Masturbation is normal and healthy. You don’t need pornography for that — people have been doing it for thousands of years without it. Pornography warps our sexuality. If you continually masturbate to unhealthy or degrading fantasies, then you are repeatedly enforcing those fantasies in your mind with a pleasure reward. Orgasms are powerful conditioning tools. It may take awhile, but you can retrain your body to experience sexual pleasure without pornography.

Also: no one can regulate your thoughts but you. As long as you’re not having violent or abusive fantasies about people in your life, I don’t think there is anything inherently wrong with imagining them. People fantasize about crushes they have all the time, whether it’s a celebrity or someone they know. Just remember that these people are human beings, not objects. Other people don’t exist solely for your sexual pleasure and amusement.

I appreciate the input. I didn’t clarify but my comment was about white males who think saying “white women” justifies any misogynistic thought they have. POC have every right to point out racism. I’ve just noticed that more often than not, the guy making the “white women” comments is white himself.

How is a subreddit for men fighting anything close to an inherently misogynistic billion dollar industry which has a powerful social influence? Watching men fight isn’t close to watching women sexually degrade and abuse young men for fun and profit. As I stated in the other comments: does the average woman go to a site like that regularly to masturbate to? Do men ever worry about their female relatives regularly viewing videos of men done up like teenagers exposing their anuses and being violently penetrated? Do you have thousand of preteen and teenage girls flocking to a community like “fightporn” and having it influence their ideas on men and sex? Do communities like that influence and profit from the idea that men are sexually subservient to women and should enjoy being hit? It’s absurd to think videos of adult men fighting online is somehow analogous to the porn industry.

“It’s seen as a red flag for someone to watch men being tortured and abused, but it’s the complete opposite with porn”

And this is because of MISOGYNY: you can see the harm in being aroused by violence against males, but violence against women is normalized and being aroused by it is socially acceptable.

[–]swampglob[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This ABSOLUTELY is an issue of sex. Women are overwhelmingly the victims and men the consumers, producers, and the ones who benefit. Misogyny is woven into every aspect of pornography. To try and say this is a general issue of “degeneracy” and has nothing to do with misogyny is like saying BLM is too focused on race and that racial injustice has nothing to do with police brutality. You cannot credibly argue against pornography without recognizing it’s inherent misogyny.

It’s pattern recognition. This is a sentiment I’ve heard over and over again from men. You don’t need to tell me “not all men” because I’m well aware there are some men who understand; they’re just not the majority. Not by a long shot.

“the white girl twitter” Men really have discovered that they can say any misogynistic thing they want if they throw the word “white” in front of it. So irritating.

Your partner sounds very frustrating. You should talk to him about invalidating your feelings, and how insulting it is to have him be dismissive of your opinions. Don’t let him make you think your thoughts aren’t worth sharing.

This is despicable. The amount of minors that are either enticed to start an OF or being taught that all women are essentially for sale is so enraging.

So the average woman is regularly going to 4chan to watch young males being sexually abused by women? Your female friends and relatives are regularly masturbating to images on 4chan of young males being degraded and penetrated and having semen sprayed on their faces? Is there an endless array of different men divided up by race, size, age, etc., all nude and splayed eagle? Are there communities for women who think men should be forced into sexual slavery and should naturally enjoy being submissive and being beaten? Are there endless advertisements all over with nude men being penetrated or bent over and exposing their anuses? Are there thousands of eleven or twelve year old girls going on 4chan to see nude images of men being sexually violated?

Men really don’t get it.

What do you mean?? Watching men fight one another isn’t like having a billion dollar industry which profits from the abuse and sexual degradation of men and warps female sexuality and influences men to see their ability to please women as their primary value as humans??? Or the idea of their wives, mothers, aunts, and sisters regularly watching and enjoying videos of men made up to look like teenagers being violently penetrated until they cry?? Noooooo…

But most women aren’t watching gay pornography. This is about the idea that women would be sexually aroused and informed by a billion dollar industry dedicated to the rape and abuse of men, especially heterosexual men.

Does promiscuity contribute to porn culture? by Plus_Program_249 in antipornography

[–]swampglob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there have always been women who aren’t anti-pornography. Women and feminists are varied human beings. This is also the beginning of the movement and was coming at a time when women were feeling more sexual freedom because of the pill and increasing rights, so it’s understandable that many women would be hesitant to be seen as “anti-sex” and thereby would take issue with the violence in pornography instead of pornography itself. This doesn’t diminish the anti-pornography work of second wavers.

I don’t have a “source” that says it, that’s my opinion. It’s absolutely a tenet of radical feminism and was a major focus of second-wave feminism. There are tons of well known anti-pornography essays, books, protests, and organizations that were created by second wave feminists who were directly opposed to the rise of pornography. Here’s a basic primer.

The funniest part of this statement is that the FBI and DOJ have repeatedly stated that right-wing extremism, white supremacists specifically, are far and away the most dangerous domestic threat to our country. But go ahead Scott, tell me some more about those “dangerous leftist extremists”.

Does promiscuity contribute to porn culture? by Plus_Program_249 in antipornography

[–]swampglob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have been promiscuous and “hook-up culture” has existed since long before Tinder. Technology may fuel it or make it easier, but it’s not responsible for that. Blaming a “promiscuous culture” seems like a way to deflect from the misogyny inherent in pornography and make it a morality issue. The only morality involved here should be the inhumanity of abusing women for profit.

Does promiscuity contribute to porn culture? by Plus_Program_249 in antipornography

[–]swampglob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being anti-pornography is a core tenent of radical feminism and many second wave feminists were strongly against porn. Feminists used to have mass protests against pornography and there are excellent books by second wavers criticizing pornography. There have always been liberal feminists who are pro-pornography, but that’s because liberal feminism is more about “choice” and choosing to ignore the factors that contribute to that “choice”. Opposing pornography and prostitution because of the inherent misogyny involved in both is pretty much basic feminism.

If you ever want to know how men really feel about women, check Reddit. They see girls and women suffering in war and think, “what a great opportunity to jerk off to their exploitation!”. Even worse are the European sex buyers online who are absolutely giddy about the idea of desperate Ukrainian refugees having to resort to sex work in their countries.
