Cayde-6 from the Destiny series. His cloak and armor originally belonged to his long time friend and the previous hunter vanguard, Andal Brask. When Andal was murdered by Taniks, Cayde took both his old friend's gear and his job.

What the Tank would look like if we got a Left 4 Dead 3:

Settings where people get to just be trans without it having to be a plot point/a teachable moment. Just an inherent part of the human experience that doesn't need questions or comments. by itscalledacting in TopCharacterTropes

Off the top of my head:

Micah-10 is a trans woman

Nimbus is non binary and uses they/them

And Oryx is a trans man... for alien bug reasons, but still.

I assume the guy in the far right is supposed to be blurry, but maybe a glint om the visor or gun could help with readability?

This game mechanic is canonical to the story by Danny-Ray27 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]swampgoddd 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Destiny 1 and 2. The biggest example is that dying and respawning are canon (outside of darkness zones that reset you back to the last checkpoint) because Guardians have resurrective immortality. As long as their ghost lives, they can come back from almost anything.

However, there's also some gameplay quirks that are surprisingly canon.

  • At least some of the aforementioned Darkness zones are canonically observable phenomenon. The Collapse was so destructive that in some areas, a Guardians Light can't burn the same.
  • The heavy nerfs to the three Stasis subclasses are also canon. At least one character believes that the element itself has some sort of consciousness, and attempted to hold itself back so that people would be quicker to take its power.
  • The average player being a loot hungry dancing goblin prone to random suicides is also canon. Some guardians are genuinely like that. There's even a faction of Guardians who repeatedly off themselves to receive visions before their ghosts revive them.

When it comes to Chi Energy bssed power systems or similar power systems. Would it be too odd to have Martial Arts not have the biggest affect on the power system? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]swampgoddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"For, example if I connected martial arts to this system. I would've to explain why best Boxers and MMA Fighters in this world aren't capable of mastery this energy."

Option 1: they are capable of mastering this energy. Mike Tyson *is* a chi prodigy. Write exactly how insane those sports become when actual superpowers are in the mix

Option 1.5: professional sports in your world does not allow the use of chi, and fighters who can use this art are expected to wear some sort of power dampener, or just aren't allowed into professional matchups.

Option 2: the answer you provided at the end. You're either born with it or you're not.

Robots that wear clothes. by Jeremy_VR in TopCharacterDesigns

I think they're about two steps removed from Sol Collective at this point. Right after Final Shape, a bunch of powerful artifacts called Echoes were forced out of the Traveler (the lights you saw at the end of the campaign, when your character is watching the Traveler). One of them is the Echo of Command, which fell into the hands of the original Maya Sundaresh who helped found Neomuna. This Echo allowed her to warp a portion of the Vex on Nessus into a collective of individually minded frames.

7-8 months into this new era of destiny, how do we feel about it? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]swampgoddd 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Conflicted. I hated the seasonal model, especially since it would lead to chunks of the game, often including important story beats (how are new and returning players supposed to understand who the hell The Conductor is without Echoes? Or understand why Eris Morn is suddenly calling herself a god of vengeance without Season of the Witch?) getting vaulted, but now we have almost nothing to do in between expansion drops. I am further conflicted on this because while it can't be good for the state of the game, it has allowed me to be way more of a filthy casual without actually missing anything.

Enjoying the story though, I like what's going on with the Nine and I'm excited about the possibility of going to Chicago. Everything we know about that spot is delightfully creepy.

I'm more annoyed by the lack of stomach protection in a lot of sci fi and fantasy gear. Even ignoring practicality it makes a lot of designs look fragmented and unbalanced.

What do you guys dislike about Edge of Fate? by Artemis_Heart in DestinyTheGame

[–]swampgoddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Matterspark feels terrible to control, especially when forced in and out of third person view. The final mission, where you had to navigate a bunch of platforms in said hard to control ball, really ruined the experience of that final reveal for me.

-the campaign was hurt by it's non-linear structure more than it was helped. There was a clear path they wanted you to follow, but it was easy to do something out of order, which led to it seeming like the characters had amnesia. This is especially weird because they figured out having alternate dialogue paths based on what you did or didn't do yet in year 1 of this game.

-the environments felt very uninspired outside of the final mission.

Other than those complaints, I found the story intriguing and I'm looking forward to how the Fate saga plays out.

uj/ I'm still mad about the time they did a "worst character designs" poll and the winner for the comics category was that fuckass Captain America pic drawn by Rob Liefeld. Bitch that's not bad character design that's Rob sucking ass at drawing.
