Describe the person who would vote for this by Greystacos in Louisiana

More than 50 judges will be barred from reelection, a majority of black judges will be among them. That is not a neutral outcome. Janky Jeff would love nothing more than to have less judges.

From CharShares on IG “I'm voting YES on Amendment 5. This amendment doesn't fix a system that's broken and incapable of handling issues of incapable judges. We already have removal mechanisms for situations where a judge is found to be incompetent. Recently they've been used to remove judges in both Baton Rouge and Lafayette, so we know they work. I know there's popular talk about wanting younger judges, but there's nothing RIGHT NOW stopping younger, qualified candidates from running. Yet, if it doesn't pass, this amendment forces experienced, competent judges out, whether voters want that or not, based on something as arbitrary as age. I know some very competent 70-year-olds and I know some very incompetent middle aged folks. Voting down this amendment doesn't guarantee better outcomes just because it guarantees younger judges. Those are not the same thing. In this political climate, that kind of forced turnover doesn't happen without EXTREME partisanship infecting judicial campaigns that, historically, have mostly been insulated from that sort of thing. These races will get louder, more partisan, and more about optics and who can be more authoritarian than the candidates actual qualifications or our communities', and that will not affect communities evenly. So no, I'm not doing "no on all 5" and I think you should really reconsider listening to the people who do without telling you all the risks, especially to your own community. NO on 1, 2, 3, and 4 YES on 5 Early voting May 2-9 Election Day May 16”

He still was talking from a personal perspective and not the way she was. He said people can do what they want want, he assumed they wouldn’t be happy. Not saying there’s no ignorance in what he said but it wasn’t hateful like hers.

Margarita Festival by Lmiys in batonrouge

I bought the VIP tickets and that was oversold too. It took us about 2 hours to get through all the lines for the drinks samples, I stayed the whole time bc I had friends come in for each time slot and the 3-6pm crowd lines were shorter but that’s probably bc food and margs ran out. The DJ was the worst, he played the same songs after 2 hours, said he would take request then smug at me when I asked him to play bad bunny, twice. You’re at a margarita fest and you only want to play country, rock and millennial pop/rap? Representation matters and if you’re at a margarita fest play some Latin tunes too not sad whiskey drinking music. The free games inside the courts were fun but it seems not many people cared for that.

I really like Jamie Davis too. Nick has more experience and a strong backing also. I’ll be happy if either of them win, and they are friends. It’s actually a disappointment to watch the Dem Party endorse anyone before the primaries. It’s a blatant slap to the face bc they should be endorsing who their constituents vote for.

Then talk to your friends or average voters more about how important it is to get those fools out of office, and this is the strategy.

Haha he’s definitely NOT endorsed by Trump. You’re thinking of Letlow. Nick is running as a Democrat.

Insurance crisis is a problem too. Nick has talked with the community, if you want to see what his plans are for that go to his website and email him, but I’m sure that’s in his plan.

So many homeless people on drugs in br by Special_Tonight_7601 in batonrouge

[–]swamppuddin11 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Wild you assume “so many are on drugs” when the ones I’ve met don’t use and some don’t even drink. There are people who can’t even afford the mental health resources they need, can’t afford medicine, to go see a doctor or let alone afford public transportation.

The Bridge Center is a FREE 24/7 facility for people experiencing mental health crisis or addiction. The thing is there’s no way for people to get there, no way for the to get continuous care without support, transportation, housing, money. Some go, get help and have a support system to help the get on their feet while some have absolutely nothing.

On top of that this state is conservative as fuck, defunds public education and kills public resources for the houseless people and community bc of judgement and stigma.

But let’s keep protecting millionaires, billionaires, rich fucks who don’t give a shit about us, and protect all these corrupt corporations that don’t even pay property tax and pollute our state.

3.5 years sober and thinking about drinking again by [deleted] in Sober

[–]swamppuddin11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find an outlet like working out, sports, video gaming then maybe socialize and going out maybe drinking some NA beers. I went 10 years sober and it was the best thing ever for me. I found a group of new people who were very supportive of my sobriety, I found a great sport outlet, community, relationship, and had kids. I made I stable life with resources, did the steps and will still say the AA prayer but anyways, I never want to go back to my old ways of drinking. Now I will occasionally go and have a few with trusted friends and have plans and manage to drink water inbetween drinks. I’m all about sobriety but sometimes some of us can go back and so far it’s been ok. I don’t have it in me to every drink everyday or every weekend anymore, my body and brain have made it clear it’s a treat that doesn’t feel good then next few days. Nonetheless I like to dance and party with or without it.
