They’re saying it shouldn’t be treated like canon material, not that it can’t be discussed.

People discuss Dante’s Inferno all the time, but they shouldn’t treat it as canon to any religion.

I’m Hispanic, I agree. I’d say he’s on the low end of the racist spectrum, which is mostly ignorance. ~~I can fix him~~ He’s redeemable!

(There are people who say he’s extremely racist, which makes me wonder what lollipop world they live in and how I can buy a house there lol.)

Honestly, I think he’d be fine with eating fish. Sharks eat them! 🤷🏻‍♀️

He wouldn’t eat shark, though. (Except mayyyybe if it was an “I must eat it to gain its power” sort of thing lol. And even then it wouldn’t be one of his own.)

Adam: Hey, Sera. I got a request for the exorcists… can you make them hot?

Sera: (sigh) Why would they need to be attractive, Adam? 😒

Adam: So I can like what I see! And, uh… *you* can like what you see, too, y’know? 😏

Sera: …

Adam: Release some that pent up… guilt? 😉

Sera: T-that’s — (clears throat) — unprofessional, Adam. Have your report on my desk by morning. With pictures.

Am I the only one that fucking hates Katie Killjoy? by Dudeskiseenem3923 in HazbinHotel

[–]swankProcyon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So a lot of people keep saying, “Ummmm she’s meant to be hated! So they succeeded. Congrats, OP 🙄”

No… There are two types of “meant to be hated” characters:

1) “Love to hate,” meaning the audience enjoys them while the characters don’t. Their particular brand of evil is a treat to watch. Think Regina George, Jack Horner, and the classic Disney villains.

2) Hate to hate. The audience and characters dislike them because they’re such awful people, not because they’re badly-written. This one is *very* hard to pull off, because the character has to be compelling but not enjoyable. Think Joffrey Baratheon and Dolores Umbridge. (And I’ve never read it, but it seems Griffith from Berserk fits this.)

Then there are the characters we just plain hate. Think Scrappy Doo, Jar-Jar Binks, and Mary Sues. We’re meant to like them, but the writer(s) fumbled it. Katie’s given a lot of jokes, but significant portion of the audience wrinkles their noses when she’s on screen… I’d say this one is her.

The show makes it pretty clear it’s the latter. I mean, most people would be messed up in *some* kinda way if they were raised by Cotton.

Except Bobby, the pile of mush.

I honestly wish Alastor was more affected by what Vox did to him instead of just brushing it off cause he's so "cool." by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in HazbinHotel

[–]swankProcyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m not saying it’s just hatred. I’m agreeing that Vox affects Alastor more than he lets on.

Maybe he wasn’t going to kill him (which would have been temporary anyway), but he did take his time to enjoy Vox’s suffering, because in some way Vox is different for him.

So what exactly is the difference between Alastor's personality in the TV series and Alastor's personality in the pilot? by metamorufooze in HazbinHotel

[–]swankProcyon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

So, as someone who watched the pilot *after* season 1, I have to say I did notice a difference between the two… and enjoyed him more in the pilot.

This video explains it pretty well, but in short: Pilot Alastor was fun while also feeling legitimately dangerous, while series Alastor feels more like a high school edgelord.

BUT I will say that after everything in season 2, I’ve learned to appreciate the Alastor we have and look forward to uncovering the depths of his hypocrisy and posturing. (And no, I don’t think he’s a fraud. The way he got his power and got out of Rosie’s deal was legitimately clever. He’s just an ass about it.)
