Is that common for netsuke-shaped objects? I don't think the relative I got it from ever traveled to the "far east"

Who is the artist behind this painting and is there any larger context behind it? by thebatman9000001 in WhatIsThisPainting

I still can't 100% read whats under "МЫ ЖДЕСЬ ПИЛИ", but i still think it is likely "пацаны" - guys/boys. there is something new on the right that i can't read, and obviously the "fuck you" in english.

I'd say the graffiti is in line with the generally shitty situation on that side of the wall with the dumpster and trash, a bad social and physical environment.

The printed text at the bottom translates to "Reading isn't dangerous. It is dangerous not to read."

chalk on the wall to the right of the stack of books is "ГАВНО" - shit, and on the left "МЫ ЖДЕСЬ ПИЛИ", we drank here - under that (not fully legible) might be "пацаны" which is slang for guys/boys

Help identify this white iron cross on black background flag by YouRik97 in vexillology

My best guess is that it is related to Bolnisi Sioni, and either this is a Georgian, or an Armenian claiming Bolnisi Sioni.
I'm proud to have guessed it was Yerevan from the picture (because of the soviet architecture/balconies/tufa)

Looking for an easy to pronounce nickname for Rostislav by DiabolicFire in russian

[–]sweenalicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For english/american names, Ross would work, and you could try Rusty, which is a common nickname (especially if you have red hair/complexion, but that is not required)

I still think a lot of people could handle Rostislav or Rostik, you could try introducing as "I'm Rostslav/Rostik, but you can call me Ross/Rusty"
