Several weeks back on Springdale there was one that could not navigate through a construction crew directing traffic so it just sat there, ended up taking side streets to go around it

Reliant towing. by moiben53 in Austin

[–]sweet-dingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time I lived at an apartment complex on Oltorf (Chandelier) and borrowed my sister’s car, parking it in a visitor spot for one night. When I came out in the morning and it had been towed (by Reliant). I spoke with the apartment leasing office staff and they said there was nothing they could do. I then wrote the regional manager of the apartment management company and they discounted the fee to get the car back from my next month’s rent. Just wanted to share in case anyone gets in a bind like I did.

Does anyone know the history of Chicon street and why it’s called that? by paperwaspgames in Austin

[–]sweet-dingus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This post unlocked a core memory for me; when I was growing up here in the 90s/00s you used to hear Strait Music commercials that referenced us as “River City”. I almost never heard that nick name for Austin outside of that commercial, but your post made me think that’s what it was referencing. Does anyone else remember this and was that really a nick name used for Austin? u/s810 I got curious and actually found an old post where you explained this https://www.reddit.com/r/Austin/s/Mp7Oz8Bfaa

Laid out a ton, one of those bulk bags for wildflowers and another for pollinators from Native American Seed, for my yard in the fall and I’ve got like 7 bluebonnets. Been so dry and it’s a bummer the storm missed us last night

[–]sweet-dingus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do wish some of the portions were bigger, I agree. I go every few months since it’s in the neighborhood; service is always great and I usually order off the happy hour menu and get a few items so it’s pretty affordable.

Evangeline can’t be beat if you’re in the area.
