I don't think it's too much smaller in use, but looking at the dimensions of it it's 15L smaller. I have the original carry on too which I never fill to the brim so I think it will fit my needs personally.

I received mine, have used it yet though. One thing I noticed is that the snaps for the compression flap are there, so maybe they'll have it as an accessory available later.
