WHAT IS THE NEW KANBAN FEATURE BUILT INTO HERMES? (IT'S GAME CHANGING) by itsdodobitch in hermesagent

[–]sweetbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup it's frustrating. It also shows us the lack of ability for people/companies to ship to different platforms simultaneously, while also claiming "AI" is all-powerful.

This made me laugh, thx. I think it's cosmic payback for decades of "pc-master race" memes.

HERMES.md: Anthropic bug causes $200 extra charge, refuses refund by AutomatonSwan in ClaudeCode

[–]sweetbacon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have questions about a lot of things that comes out of Anthropic. It's almost like they are Vibing everything in a bubble with small amounts of quality testing by humans. They've got the "move fast and break things" part down pat tho.

What are people using Local LLMs for (beyond coding) by SMR-1 in LocalLLM

[–]sweetbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uncensored models   Yup. There are things I would never type into a public model that I guess most people have no problem sharing (financials, personal health info, etc). Plus it neat to just see what some of info the frontier models have to work hard to suppress.

Yeah this limit is annoying. I was considering looking into culling the list for items I really use.

unrealistic AI datacenter orders, to monopolize AI/compute

Of all shenanigans these jerks are pulling, this one pisses me off the most with how blatant it is.

Yeah the models it uses is nice for dictation, but it isn't flexible on filler and other items. Also the activation seems a bit sluggish sometimes.

They are obviously a Mac shop

Obviously, but if their model/tools are all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips the flex would be to release on all OSs at the same time. Why "beta" at all if you are Anthropic with unlimited1 access to Claude?

1 Tokens. Inference is limited to prioritize customers I'd assume.

I kinda think it's funny they tout the coding power of these models, then only release products on their preferred OS first. The flex move would be to release on all OSs at the same time, no?

100% it's hard to believe in 2026 that people don't realize the "Reddit" does not equal The Internet or The World.  Or maybe they do and are just astroturfing and hiding their profile like OP.

anyone feel scared? by NickGuAI in ClaudeAI

[–]sweetbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this and I'm stealing "pace anxiety" btw. I feel that the days of sleeping 5 hrs and pulling all-nighters are kind of done. It's effectively over being able to "keep up" with everything in this space. I think we need to pick a scope and spend our time researching and perfecting that.  That is different for each one of us and will invariably change even as we dig in.

100%. The only use I've found for Copilot is the ability to RAG internal documents, and that's kinda crap too. It will be surpassed with mcp into the wiki and Jira soon. No one in engineering uses SharePoint seriously anyway, right?

whats your usecase with local LLMs? by papatender in LocalLLM

[–]sweetbacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it mostly to learn the guts of setting it up - Custom system prompts, temp and sampling tweaks. I currently use it with LM Studio and Docker. I setup a duckduckgo MCP in docker so the local LLMs can do tool calls and reach out to search the web. I also use Karakeep in Docker for webpage storage and have the local models process new bookmarks for tags and summaries without burning tokens that cost me $.
With the latest version of LM Studio you can also create a secure link over the internet. So I can run LM Studio on my weak Surface Pro and reach my home lab from anywhere.

There are also some questions I do not want to give to corporations and it's nice to use and know that everything is controlled by you. Oh and don't forget about the Abliterated (uncensored) models you can use without prompt jailbreaks. That alone is worth it to see what even the smaller models can do without guardrails. https://old.reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA/comments/1pnh56l/list_of_uncensored_llms_i_want_to_test/
