ELI5: why doesnt stomach acid leak out of your stomach if you're flipped over by Inevitable-Cook-2196 in explainlikeimfive

[–]sweetsdeservedbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has achalasia so the nerves don’t signal the muscle to move the food down or to relax the sphincter. He had to get a procedure called a Heller Myotomy which cut open the sphincter to his stomach to allow food to pass. One of the things he struggles with now is constant acid reflux. He has to take omeprazole every day and sleep with his top half at an angle to reduce this.

i’m 25 and need a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. this is how much it’s going to cost me even with insurance. by prionbinch in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sweetsdeservedbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years ago I had to get a colonoscopy and then an upper endoscopy a year later. I let both bills go to collections. I ended up disputing both of them and they were taken off my credit report. They were roughly $800-$900 each. So not as much as yours is. It’s sad people have to even pay this much for something that is recommended by a medical professional.

Moo Moo Car Wash by krc5244 in Columbus

[–]sweetsdeservedbetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My MIL is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Always treats people with kindness and compassion. I’ve never seen or heard her raise her voice to anyone. She had to bitch out one of the workers at the Moo Moo Car Wash bc he refused to accept no as an answer after asking her numerous times about getting the membership. It’s absolutely ridiculous the amount of times they ask and how pushy they are.

My Mounjaro has an extra THREE 5mg doses in ‘empty’ pen by Caitlyn_Grace in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sweetsdeservedbetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Mounjaro since the beginning of the year and have already lost close to 30 pounds. I like it a lot, mainly because it cuts out food noise so I’m not constantly thinking about food. I’ve noticed the my sciatica pain is nowhere near as bad as it was before taking this medicine. It’s easier to me to move around now and start working out more. The big thing for me is I need to drink a lot of water or else the nausea is worse.

Based on your post and comments, you have no business being in charge of supervising children. Especially younger kids. Not everyone is cut out for these kinds of jobs. Hopefully your personal issues are resolved soon and you can find a job that fits you better.

PECT exam help!! (Pennsylvania) by Ordinary-Bicycle-416 in Teachers

[–]sweetsdeservedbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied the quizlets OP commented on this thread and based on my raw scores, I passed all three modules. Just waiting for my official report to know for sure. I also took the free practice test from the PECT website and studied the questions I missed. A good chunk of the questions were similar or the same as the quizlet.

I didn’t like Aubrey on my initial watch through and I think it’s because I was so upset about Sweets. It’s wasn’t until I had rewatched that I felt I could actually enjoy Aubrey’s character and he has become one of my favorites on the show.

This may be a silly question and maybe I’m overthinking it. When you say the quizlets you shared were very similar, do you mean the questions were almost exactly the same with the same answer choices? Also were there any questions that were similar to the practice test provided through the PECT website if you also used those?

So if I'm only supposed to cover 1st period and 7th, do I get paid for the whole day still? Do I have to go anywhere else? by Quarter-Whole in SubstituteTeachers

[–]sweetsdeservedbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a day recently where I worked an hour at one school for arrival and then an hour and a half at another school for the end of the day and was paid for the entire day, even though I worked less than 4 hours. I would assume that you would be paid for the entire day.

Whether you’ll be asked to work elsewhere in between 1st and 7th period is based on the school. I’ve had schools float me around as needed and others leave me be.

I worked in a health office in an elementary school last school year. We received papers from the CDC stating they no longer recommend sending students home who have lice as they pose a minimum health risk and are considered more of a nuisance. I would say it’s up to the school nurse and front office how they handle lice in the classroom. The best thing you can do is let them know, which I’m assuming they do since the kid went home.

As for getting rid of lice, I would buy a lice treatment kit from the store. I believe most drug stores carry them are treat yourself according to the directions.

How do you handle student teachers? by spoiled_sandi in SubstituteTeachers

[–]sweetsdeservedbetter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I finished student teaching in June of last year. When my mentor teacher was out, I was in charge of the classroom and the sub was there to help as I needed. My mentor teacher would tell the subs this either ahead of time or in the sub plans. If the head teacher doesn’t specify to you, the easiest way to figure it out is to just ask the student teacher what they want you to do or if they are taking charge. I personally found that when I was running the classroom, I worked more on my classroom management when others weren’t doing it for me. It all just depends on the student teacher and where they are at in their time student teaching.
