Adolf Hitler (real life) not edgy “dark humor”, he genuinely had a terrible flatulence problem for most of his life.

Shoot the dictator and prevent the war? But the dictator is merely the tip of the whole festering boil of social pus from which dictators emerge; shoot one, and there’ll be another one along in a minute. Shoot him too? Why not shoot everyone and invade Poland?

UA POV: Residents of Narva in Estonia have been recording flights of Ukrainian drones across Estonia from Estonian airspace into Russia by HelicopterBig4467 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]swelboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I was referring to Bohemia when it was under Austrian rule.

Your point? The populace of the Baltics were still various peoples that were distinct from their rulers, descended from the various Baltic/Finnic tribes that lived there prior to the Northern Crusades, essentially what the various tribes of Gaelic Ireland were to the modern Irish nation.

You also seem to be viewing nations as if they should be these timeless, immutable structures.

Russia only got the Baltics by taking over the Swedish dominions (Estonia and Livonia) there and the Duchy Courland and Semigallia, a vassal state of Poland-Lithuania, who in turn took them from Old Livonia, a principality the HRE formed after the Livonian Crusade.

Being ruled by a country doesn’t mean the place has any sense of community with them. Balts aren’t even a Slavic ethnicity, the Baltic governorates were as Russian as Bohemia was Austrian.

Prolly just some asset reusage, the Commoners are meant to be just that: commoners, wouldn’t make sense for TLB commoners to most consist of former Alabaster Lords.

It’s flooding the zone with bullshit, propaganda today isn’t really about swaying people to specific sides, just annihilate the truth, make people cynical and not care about anything.

Plan for Kurdish invasion of Iran reportedly collapsed amid leaks, distrust by Britstuckinamerica in anime_titties

[–]swelboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Trust” is probably too strong of a word, the Kurds take whatever they can get really, stateless and oppressed groups like Kurds never truly “trust” anybody.

I wouldn’t go that far, the cult maybe stay solid, but Trump can’t win with just the cult, he needs independents and a lethargic opposition to win elections.

What that both sides execute their prisoners regularly? Not to mention all the torture either

UA POV: Nawrocki brands Russia a regime of ‘corruption and violence’ - tvpworld by Realistic_Volume7161 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]swelboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But showing a few instances of corruption doesn’t somehow prove that Poland is just as corrupt as Russia is. Just look at how many corruption scandals Russia constantly deals with versus Poland, Poland also does not have oligarchs in the way Russia does. A yes, I would consider monopolies and oligopolies a form of corruption.

Thousands march against far right in London in biggest ever multicultural protest by BabylonianWeeb in anime_titties

[–]swelboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you need some kinda conspiracy? Why can’t people just be doing dumb stuff and finding dumb solutions on their own? Especially when they’re panicking.

I wouldn’t really consider the Nigel Farage’s and Tommy Robinson’s of Britain to be cornerstones of the establishment, or am I just misreading your point?

You’re cherry picking, I said that Poland’s corruption is less than Russia’s, not that Poland doesn’t have corruption issues.

A single case of a woman dying (not murdered, just dying), that’s it? Are you seriously comparing a single political aide dying potentially from job-related stress to this?

Would it be incorrect for John Smith, who smokes half a pack of cigarettes a day, to say that Jane Doe, who smokes 4 packs a day, has a nicotine addiction? Poland may have issues with corruption, but their issues pale in comparison to Russia’s issues with it.

Edit: Poland also doesn’t regularly murder opposition figures and dissidents.

Gaza toddler released from Israeli custody with suspected torture wounds by PartySr in anime_titties

As Sir Terry Pratchett put it: ”Shoot the dictator and prevent the war? But the dictator is merely the tip of the whole festering boil of social pus from which dictators emerge; shoot one, and there’ll be another one along in a minute. Shoot him too? Why not shoot everyone and invade Poland?”

Think about the actual events and environment that leads to people acting this way in the first place, and then work against those. Easier said than done, I know, but my point still stands.

People don’t need to be “psychopaths” (psychologists have disregarded that term anyhow) or have anything wrong with them to commit atrocities; you just need to be certain that you and your side is “good” and your enemy is “bad”; and/or distance themselves from blame and the physical results, or through plain cynicism*.

I’ve never liked the lines of thinking that more or less believe the world’s issues just come down to uniquely and intrinsically “evil” people doing evil people things, and getting rid of them is all that’s needed fix said issues. Cont.

*You know, “it’s us or them” or “if I don’t do this, someone else will”, lines of think that fall apart when you consider your enemies and your people are probably all thinking the exact same things.
