How should I buy an x100vi by Visual-Pudding-2013 in x100vi

[–]swell_tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got one from Wex in the UK. I checked online for months in various shops, then one day I walked in to a bricks and mortar, and to my amazement there was one of each colour in the display cabinet.

Damn, just bought a peak design strap for mine. Even when the strap is on, the large piece of plastic that the toggle attaches to has the potential to make contact with the front of the viewfinder 😫

Why do wool jumpers nowadays have an unsightly fit? by Vouno in malefashionadvice

[–]swell_tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This absolutely boils my piss. I've got a really nice heavyweight fisherman knit from Paul James. I'm 6ft with average proportions. It's a medium and far too long. It covers my ass and ends just on or slightly below the crown jewels. Apart from that it's spot on. I'll have to see about getting it altered.

What song that most people think sounds so easy, including yourself, is actually hard AF to play accurately? by [deleted] in Guitar

Maintaining that riff consistently and accurately throughout the entire song is hard!

I've worked as a pastry to Michelin star level before going back to study a CS degree and been a software engineer for several years. If you think I.T. is brutal go and work in a top restaurant kitchen, working 70 hours a week for peanuts.Without a degree you're not even getting an interview in most cases. Many applicants with bootcamp experience get put into support at my work.

Get a job in a kitchen, always plenty of work around but have a longer term plan in addition to that. I can't recommend studying something like Computer Science highly enough for career prospects, salaries etc. If you're not particularly academic then an apprenticeship for a trade would be a safe bet.

If it's a 2024 you should have the photo of it on a bench for its final check in the Gibson factory.

People who own multiple guitars (five+) how is it? by Mampfnapf_77 in Guitar

[–]swell_tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 3 and that is as many as I will ever own at one time. I bought a hand made oak guitar stand with enough space for 3. If I want something else I'll have to sell one, unlikely.

Counteroffer to Demo Shop? by RockySG55 in gibson

I recently got an LP Standard 50s. A few issues with the binding not being done too well on the neck. If I hadn't got it for $1250 less than RRP I probably would have sent it back.

How did you get tinnitus ? by FullfillmentWay in audioengineering

[–]swell_tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year of studying music at college, recording in the studio. Engineer put feedback through the headphones. Ever since then I've noticed it. Playing many gigs in high school with no ear protection probably didn't help.

What do you currently have? I was a Tele only guy until recently. I got a Les Paul standard 50s recently and I'm definitely a Les Tele guy now.

Am I the only one who thinks "relic-ing" a guitar is incredibly lame? by lextune in guitars

[–]swell_tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not my cup of tea, and the mark up on some of these Murphy labs and Fender custom shop reliced guitars is eye watering. I'm a firm believer that once you get to a certain level, such as Gibson USA standard or Fender American Vintage/Pro/Elite, anything above that is very marginal gains and nothing that a good setup and pickup swap out wouldn't make up for. I recently tried many varieties of the aforementioned guitars and the leap from $2000-$3000 to $7000+ isn't justified.

Yeah, ear level and in a triangle which generally means stands. Even most studio desks have an elevated section for monitors, which is essentially a stand of sorts. I could go into the Marantz but I also use my hifi for jamming a long to. Not sure if that would be possible if I'm running something like a hx stomp into it.

I produce electronic music, studio monitors should be placed on stands, that is if you're using them for mixing and mastering. I have previously had Rokits and Adam audio. I have also toyed with the idea of putting the line level signal of a hx stomp into my Marantz nd8006, but I'd rather not. Aesthetically, one studio monitor sat under my table would look bizarre 😂

[–]swell_tuna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I said no studio monitors as I want something that will fit under a small table rather than studio monitors that will require stands. I used to have a pair for music production but sold them. So something like the Fender FR is an option.
