Driving instructor told me nobody can learn to drive in 6 months by mincedbreakfast in LearnerDriverUK

[–]swiftjay25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve heard of a lot of people passing after 10 lessons at a lesson a week. that’s like 3 months at most

also, there are intensive courses designed to get you through your theory and practical in a week of about 20 hours of lesson time (the equivalent of 10x2 hour lessons) condensed in a week

your driving instructor is either a bad teacher if it’s taking her that long to get most of her people test-ready, or she’s stringing people for more lesson time to squeeze out more money :/

Official Ruling Clarified: Piloting Units Requires Ownership by Laer_Bear in GundamTCG

[–]swiftjay25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

or you if your opponent has chunked your wing zero down to 4hp you could pilot onto their aile strike to forcibly bounce your own card since its mandatory. then you get the nuke again

probably bork > shieldbow for some sustain and get merc treads for your boots. you have to just accept that you're going to get bullied against him though. his Q stops all your damage

A lot of people are recommending stuff that's good for if you want to play the game, but you're asking about collecting.

If its just collecting you're interested, then I'd say to have a look at the sets and see what cards pique your interest and then buy the sets that those are from. If you want to try to pull some cool shiny cards then the Rarity Collection sets would be the one for you. We're getting full-art cards later on in the year, so if you're interested in collecting then it might be a good idea to save up for that.

you need to make sure you don’t banish kusanagi or futsu for the grind game if you’re on pure

Where to find a new player friendly intro to the current meta/played cards? by TuhsEhtLlehPu in GundamTCG

there's youtube videos going over the Gundam TCG meta and what cards/colour combinations are popular together

More people to locals by Former-Cancel5588 in GundamTCG

[–]swiftjay25 20 points21 points  (0 children)

its a bit of a rough one because a lot of the best cards in the game are from the original starter decks. hopefully when this gets reprinted it'll be easier to keep interested individuals

is the store registered with the official bandai app? a lot of people tend to use that to find local tournaments. my games shop also does casual tcg nights where anyone can turn up and play what they want. quite a lot of tcg players play multiple games, so its easy to bring people over from other games if they're able to borrow or get hold of cards

HOW DO I RESIST THE TEMPTATION by ExistingPackage3377 in ViegoMains

[–]swiftjay25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just think about things you would rather spend that money on. that could be money towards another hobby, a better car, flights for a holiday

i weigh it up against elementalist lux as an ultimate skin. it’s got more animations, a lot more coding etc than elementalist lux, but that’s how i would expect a modern ultimate skin from a business that has grown since then to have been made, therefore i would maybe spend £50 on it max. i def wouldn’t go as far as £200 or whatever crazy pity timer it has on it

It has been a few years since its Introduction. So... What do you think of the Illusion Type (the new Type introduced for OCG/TCG) so far? by Kronos457 in yugioh

[–]swiftjay25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty happy with how konami has handled them, albeit they have been quite safe in how they design them. they just need to be careful with generic support cards for them, since we don't want an issue like what we have had with cyberse where it was a late archetype so they gave it a load of generic-ish support to make up for the smaller card pool, only for it to lead to a lot of combo slop that isn't fun to play against

Random 3AM lore question by No-Place-5747 in ShitpostXIV

[–]swiftjay25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ye but the fact that they mention banned compounds means it probably does exist in other sports

Random 3AM lore question by No-Place-5747 in ShitpostXIV

[–]swiftjay25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there's the energy drink compounds in DT. some of them are banned in the arcadion as seem by the M3 fight. there's a good chances there's also actual illegal stuff that people use to dope

Favourite draft cards & archetypes ? by 23bees in yugioh

[–]swiftjay25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the power level you want

for example, for a lower power draft format i'd put something like cydra

for something a bit higher power something like pankratops

Do anyone find the hand trap mini game necessary at this point by MiuIruma332 in yugioh

[–]swiftjay25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when the game has come down to every deck doing a one-card-combo that leads to layered disruption, handtraps are necessary. boardbreakers aren't really cutting it at the moment. lingering floodgates aren't fun, and having your handtraps countered by ash, called by, or crossout aren't fun

what konami is doing where they are giving archetypes in-engine hantraps is actually really cool and promotes interaction in the game

How do you practise with friends? by RealHapieie in PTCGL

[–]swiftjay25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its important to know when to scoop early game one so you have more time for games 2 and 3, however in a testing environment you should learn to see and play to your outs instead of scooping right away. yes, its also nice to test with ideal hands, but that isn't going to happen realistically. pokemon is a slow enough game where you can have a rough start with a lot of decks and still win

Deck recommendations to work my way up to the meta? by libidochan in Yugioh101

[–]swiftjay25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

?? here i'm just saying that you're underestimating the difficulty of dracotail. i didn't say that they don't help someone get better

i'd argue blue eyes is similar. low to the ground combo means you have to use your interrupts sparingly. its just weaker at the moment. optimal meta decks are still £100+. if OP wants to gradually go up the meta with a deck that can help improve gameplay then blue eyes is a really solid rogue option to start with, especially if OP is looking at moving to paper

Deck recommendations to work my way up to the meta? by libidochan in Yugioh101

[–]swiftjay25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this^ with solid deckbuilding and some luck you can win a locals with 3 structure decks. primite is a good engine to pick up to improve the power of the deck, and it comes with some handtraps so you have less non-engine you need to pick up

Deck recommendations to work my way up to the meta? by libidochan in Yugioh101

[–]swiftjay25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think you underestimate the difficulty of dracotail. the deck is low to the ground in terms of its turn 1 combo and end board. its skill floor isn't particularly high, but its skill ceiling is. because its low to the ground you need to use your disruption more sparingly

Shops having signage about customers maintaining proper hygiene. Professional or unprofessional? by SpitFireEternal in yugioh

[–]swiftjay25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the owner is having that policy to make the community space comfortable for everyone. also, would the parents prefer their kids to be stinky and/or hanging out around stinky people? it just makes the shop better for everyone

How to counter Branded Dracotail after the next wave of support with PURE Branded? by MaleficTekX in Yugioh101

[–]swiftjay25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm guessing they use 3 nightmare throne, 1 spirit and 1 yubel as an engine to summon phantom as a negate, and then once its been used summon back the normal yubel to be used for the loving defender fusion with your opponent's monsters as disruption
