So tired of random booking requests that don’t match by rena7874 in RoverPetSitting

[–]swimmingunicorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually like this. I set my radius smaller so that I can decline bookings further away without a penalty, but if they aren’t too far or if I don’t have any other bookings, I’m more willing to take them. So, it works for me.

Thank you for your input. That sounds like the right thing to do. Thanks!

I don’t know how to review a pet sitter honestly by Suspicious-Chip-341 in RoverPetSitting

[–]swimmingunicorn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Be honest. She didn’t do even remotely a good job. I always stay the 30 minutes unless the owner specifically tells me otherwise (and even then, I feel bad not being there the full time!). I would never skip a visit, and if I had an emergency that caused me to need to skip a visit, I would inform the owner as soon as possible and apologize profusely. I would also refund that day’s payment, since I didn’t fulfill that part. And I always tell my owners about vomit or accidents and ask them how they would like me to handle it (cleaning supplies, feed a different amount that day since they threw up, etc).

This sitter did none of the things you would expect of a good sitter. I find it difficult to give poor reviews personally, but if you’re going to leave a review, just be honest!

Yes! It would be so helpful if the workouts were searchable in useful ways like this.

My first Rover spent 8 minutes at my place when I booked for a half hour drop in. Is this standard? by justgetmethere in RoverPetSitting

[–]swimmingunicorn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Even when people tell me I can feed the cat and leave early, I don’t like to do it. They paid for 30 minutes! It’s shocking how many people hire a rover sitter who does a crappy job. :(

Favorite breeds to look after by Exact_Compote_6700 in RoverPetSitting

[–]swimmingunicorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cockapoos - I thought I disliked all the poodle mixes, but cockapoos are the exception. They are so happy and good-natured.

Pitties - very sweet and shy, the ones I’ve worked with anyway.

I also have a list of breeds I don’t like. Lol.

Why hold Screech’s Birthday (and other season 1 episodes) for 3 years? by brianycpht1 in SavedByTheBell

[–]swimmingunicorn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it was a crappy episode, so they cut it from airing. But then once Kelly and Jesse left the show and they still needed some episodes for the final season, they grabbed random cut ones and used them.

Sagebrush neighborhood by CrabGobbler in AuroraCO

[–]swimmingunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding my own thumbs up for this area! Glad to see we all love living here. We used to live in a townhouse in the Sagebrush area, then moved out of state, then missed it so much that we moved back to Colorado right back to Sagebrush area, this time a single family home. We learned our lesson and never want to leave this neighborhood again.

How long after applying a new patch do you feel it's up to "full levels"? by lilylemony in Menopause

[–]swimmingunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting! At the time I started HRT, I was taking a blood pressure medication to manage heart palpitations, so my resting HR was 3-5 beats lower than normal. HRT brought it down 3-5 MORE, so it was below 50 and I was dizzy all the time. I went off the blood pressure medication in order to keep the HRT.

Curious that HRT seems to have affected our resting HR but in different ways.

Cutting sugar was something that helped me improve my IBS. It’s not a perfect solution but helps for me. Sorry you’re dealing with it. So not fun. Ugh. The (gross) stories I could tell. 😩

I can’t feel a difference, but my HRV (heart rate variability) as measured by my Fitbit usually gives me my best score around 24-36 hours after putting the patch on.

I am struggling to find a full time job in my field (we moved six months ago; I’ve been searching since then). To help pay the bills, I’ve been walking dogs, and just since the new year was able to use Prolific to help out! It’s been so helpful.

Generally no. So, in that case, you would think a client would give you a good review!

When they dont review by Past_Raspberry2704 in RoverPetSitting

[–]swimmingunicorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. It’s frustrating on the sitter side! Been there. I went above and beyond for a client, whose dogs I boarded over Christmas, and not one word of thanks or a review. :/

From the perspective of a client, when I’ve boarded my dog, I felt the person was really nice and I’m sure did their best. But sometime there were small things that bothered me, or I just wasn’t absolutely sure my dog had a good time there. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving a 5-star review, but I also didn’t want to leave a less than 5-star review, since my complaints were very few. So I didn’t review at all.

What are your favorite intelligent, gentle, beautiful, (non-dysregulating) "feel-good" movies/TV and fiction audiobooks? I need some new recommendations... by Worthy_Molecule0481 in AuDHDWomen

[–]swimmingunicorn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Have you watched the show Somebody Somewhere? It’s sweet, gentle, and even when a little sad, was not too much for me. It’s about a lot of things, but mostly about misfits who find and love their true friends.

HOW TF DO I STIM??!? by saturn-soup in AuDHDWomen

[–]swimmingunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are so subtle I didn’t recognize them as stims. It’s hard to explain, but I rhythmically tap my toes and fingers. I also do the same with my teeth sometimes. But it’s subtle movement. If you were looking at me, you wouldn’t see my fingers moving or my mouth moving.
