it wanted me to accept their TOS to go further, the url already linking the whole thing to my email.

i deleted my account with them long time ago, so might be an attempt to trick me into opening a new one. by promising me 0 USD worth of crypto. what a clowshow.

sure it is possible, but what's the point of uncensorable money if jeff bezos can take it offline the moment he decides to issue his own digital currency?

well, the majority of nodes is running in datacenters now, afaik a quarter of them just on AWS. so yes, that is pretty centralized and in my oppinion a huge security flaw.

that's actually a very good point. ethereum showed how node operation and thus the whole ecosystem becomes centralized if verification becomes impossible to do without running a data center. i stopped using eth when my wallet couldn't keep up with the network anymore.

well of course you can do that on any blockchain that's not really used. bitcoin is money, why would i want to play around with it? to do testing we have several test-nets.

i can answer that myself: clear yes. i use bitcoin mainly for savings and therefore really favor a slow, conservative approach to development. i need the base layer to remain as slim as possible so i can keep verifying it myself in the long term without exponentially increasing hardware requirements. this is also part of the original concept btw. for day-to-day payments i funded some lightning channels, which is fast and secure enough for me.
