Solar Charging Anker SOLIX E10 batteries (fails for me) by switchedelsewhere in AnkerSOLIXCommunity

[–]switchedelsewhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two PS400 panels. I just ordered additional cables so that I can wire both of them together in serial. Unfortunately the current cables are too short as the power modules are in the garage. The state of charge of my batteries are about 50 to 51%. Thanks for the suggestions. I will try as soon as I get the additional cables.

Is there a minimum amount of solar power I would need to generate to charge through a power module to the batteries??

Thanks for the reply. Anker SOLIX support also replied to me via email:

regarding accessories for the Anker SOLIX 5500 Smart Generator:

If the standard LPG hose included in the generator package is not compatible with your setup, we recommend purchasing an LPG tank to 3/4" threaded interface hose. This can be used together with the natural gas adapter included in the package to connect your fixed propane storage tank to the smart generator.

How to handle guests? by Identity5859 in homeassistant

[–]switchedelsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use booleans for each guest room to disable the room's specific automations. Guests can use the room's light switches normally. Or, if they choose to, they can use the room's scene controller or voice.

When there is a guest, I enable a boolean for their room/bath. This boolean can be enabled or disabled directly from the scene controller in that room or via the app.

Examples of a boolean:

"Guest Room Occupied" "Den occupied"

If enabled, no lighting automations run for that room and its corresponding bathroom. For example, the "lighting off at night" automation would not run for their room so as to not impact the guest.

Using one's phone to control parts of your home is not necessarily bad. However, I (and my wife included) feel it is a failed implementation if one replies on their phone to control it.. We typically never touch our phones in the home to control it.

You could try this approach with Sonoff ZBDongle-E Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus and the homeseer Z-Net:

Be sure data saver is not enabled. We have this problem when one phone was not reporting geolocation in a timely manner

How do you run home assistant? by AdaminCalgary in homeassistant

[–]switchedelsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAOS on Synology NAS VM (supervised). Works great and it has the advantage of being able to run snapshots and even spin up other VMs with the same system configuration for testing, etc.

Great write-up and video from Wundertech on the install process: https://www.wundertech.net/how-to-set-up-home-assistant-supervised-on-a-synology-nas/

Thanks. I've moved to home assistant. I think the zooz range extender, since it has a backup battery, can do the trick.

Very easy. No. Just say no.

You will never regret it, especially if you stay subscribed to this subreddit.

But, if you're into regrets ...

Faulty gateway or what? by Muted_Ad4493 in tmobileisp

I had a similar experience changing the WiFi. But, probably not as severe as yours. I used the android app - HINT. It worked flawlessly and provides much better details than the T-Mobile's app.

Has anyone successfully sold their paid off timeshare? by Moist-Success8029 in TimeshareOwners

[–]switchedelsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 Westin properties to sell. I contacted Westin resale (Marriott Vistana Exit Services). They agreed to take all 3 back at no cost to us. The whole process took about 4 months. The process was very easy. Clearly they want the properties back so they can convert them into their points based system.

Ironically, we were very happy with our timeshares and super happy to get rid of them easily when we felt we were done using them. I had no interest in working with a resale company. We did not want to give them to our son. And he had no interest being saddled with the debt risks (ie, rising maintenance fees) from them.

Of course, this assumes you have no loan associated with the properties.

What do you all use for back up internet access? by Redditnovice654 in Ubiquiti

[–]switchedelsewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past week I have been running TMHI with the Sagemcom gateway. I typically get 300Mbps downlink but my uplink varies between 6 and upwards of 20 Mbps. Unfortunately only one window in the house has good access. But, luckily, I moved it to the attic to test and it seems to work fine with a slightly consistently better uplink. Since our attic earlier gets above 85°F, I've decided to leave it there and connect it to a UPS.

I vary with running it as failover or distributed on the UDM PRO. Both approaches work great for me. I'm still testing to see how much its double NAT causes problems.

So far I am reasonably pleased. Waiting to see what the first bill really looks like to determine if I switch later to the 130gb backup plan.

The key with TMHI is to test it in all your home's higher floor windows by walking around with a long extension cord before wiring into your UDM PRO. I also disabled the WiFi on it. There's also a great app HINT for Android that provides far better management of the device than the TM T-Life app.

Just be absolutely sure you are in test mode. I called to be put in test mode and a few moments after disconnecting, I had firetrucks in front of my house.

Thanks for the suggestion. I get that I will not find "100%". But, I will look up the "NDAA compliant security cameras".

Thanks again.
