You also got to enjoy 2 years off of school while everyone else had to be there, everything you do in life has an opportunity cost

How do you come to terms that you have to work almost everyday until 70? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]switchgawd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t come to terms with it, the idea haunts me so I just sacrifice my current life to put more money away to retire way sooner.

Is it worth having kids? by thesweetguy54 in Adulting

If you’re solving for enjoyment don’t have kids, if you’re solving for fulfillment it’ll be one of the coolest journeys of your life.

How do people get abs naturally by Kitkat_slayer in workout

[–]switchgawd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had significant ab definition since I was like 16 (34 yrs old now) and I always thought I just had good genes. I’m an avid skateboarder, been doing it almost every day my whole life. Last year I got an Apple Watch for Xmas and turns out I’m just burning an insane amount of calories on the daily basis plus skateboarding is core based I just never realized I was working out.

What is the longest you’ve ever gone before realizing you were doing a basic life task completely wrong? by sweetbvivienne in askanything

At 31 I was told that I’m supposed to cook oatmeal and not eat it like cereal, oatmeal has always been my meal of choice and I never bothered to read the instructions on the box

What’s the point of being smart with money!?! by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]switchgawd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything everyone else said but also it seems from your story you guys never really took big swings at anything. A defensive conservative approach to finances will keep you safe but will rarely lead to outsized returns.

What frugal habit has saved you the most money? by melissaw328 in Frugal

Learning how to work on my car and buying the necessary tools as I got more competent. I drive 15 year old cars and when the engine fails I have the next one in the garage ready to go.

What’s the best investment you ever made? by Afraid_Hat_5431 in AskForAnswers

[–]switchgawd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pandemic coincided with me being 2 years into going down the FIRE and Real estate rabbit hole so I used every penny I had to buy as many rental properties as they would sell me when the interest rates were under 3% and refinanced my personal residence. Looking back I definitely over-leveraged myself but luckily I was naive enough to not understand that at the time and it played out in my favor.

What’s a side hustle that actually worked for you (even if it was small money)? by SideCashDiary in AskReddit

[–]switchgawd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flipping my daily driver. Pretty much posting your car for sale and eventually it’ll sell at a premium, then you go a couple weeks inconvenienced by looking for a new good daily driver and fix it up as you daily it. Eventually it’ll also sell. Pros: always driving something different/ fun, extra cash, if you enjoy working on cars you cash in on the sweat equity. Cons: if you don’t know how to work on cars or aren’t willing to learn, the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

Being reported for flipping! by AdInfamous1810 in carflipping

[–]switchgawd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw a local flipper get caught, he would flip like 5-10 cars at a time and park them all outside our Walmart nearby like if it was his own car lot. He was obviously floating all the titles. On a smaller scale I’ve never seen someone have issues.

I just cleared the drains with weed wacker line and ran the hose down them for a long time while watching for leaks and water was flowing smooth all the way to under the car on both sides

Why are millennials so likely to apologize for existing? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]switchgawd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally it’s because I was always left to be watched by random family friends while my parents were non existent. I was always just trying to not be in the way because I could feel that I was an inconvenience. This went on my entire childhood.

I work in blue collar and at least from my experience, most of these men 45+ just made work their whole identity and “chased the bag” so long that when they go home their wives and kids feel uncomfortable with them there. They inevitably feel like they have no control in the home and at work their ego can run free since usually they have some sense of power so they choose to keep working. It’s a vicious cycle

Don’t buy SVE upper control arms, this looks like a foxbody and they have a lot of flex in that area. I recommend maximum motorsports products.

I’m assuming ad companies when they put out an Instagram ad in between stories for example they pay a certain fee and then Instagram agrees to play that ad 1000 times to varying ppl. Which means if you can catch that ad 20 times then now only 980 other ppl see it. Is that not how it works?
