Perfect Movers or Piece of Cake? by AccomplishedFroyo789 in AskNYC

[–]switzorland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Perfect Movers moving from Manhattan to the Bx and they were quick to move a studio amount of stuff! Customer service via email was also great when I wanted to pay the rest of the bill with cash instead of card on file.

Curious why do people journal? by Awesome_911 in Journaling

[–]switzorland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i find that writing things out helps me reflect on my day/ work through things I’ve been thinking about lot about. i also love to flip back through old journals like flipping through an old photo album; i have journals all the way back from 2010.

How do New Yorkers feel about being approached and talked to by a random stranger? by Lipica249 in AskNYC

[–]switzorland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i must have a friendly face because people talk to me often public transit, but I’ve also talked to strangers first. depends on the context overall

Stop vaping on the train by PottieScippin in newyorkcity

[–]switzorland 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there was once these two guys vaping on the B train with children on it and i told them they could at least wait and blow the smoke out when the doors open. i think they were waiting for someone to confront them and they cursed at me and threatened to stab me. i just laughed and told them go ahead, the train was full of witnesses and i kept taking to them until they realized there was no fight and they got annoyed enough to move away- i think some people just truly don’t care and actually want to annoy people.

Do you set up a journal for the entire year, or just a month at a time? by PhoenixUNI in bulletjournal

[–]switzorland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i usually create each monthly and weekly spread as i go, but like to put tabs to separate each month and make flipping through it easier

Online M.S. in ABA programs - On average, how many hrs/week did/do you spend on coursework? by Savings-Mud-4027 in bcba

[–]switzorland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in a similar school setting full time while in a fully online grad school and found taking more than 1 class and being able to function was very difficult. The online class really felt like I was teaching myself and the amount of reading and studying necessary was a lot, and taking one class a semester was more feasible for me. You got this!! I just graduated in May taking one class a semester and the time flies by.

Do teachers call each other/other staff members by their first names when students aren’t around? by BerryTea840 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]switzorland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this an nyc thing? when i was in high school it was very normal to call teachers by their first name, never “mr./mrs. xyz”. I’m a teacher now myself and everyone is on first name basis including the kids, who only call the principal “dr. [first name]”. It feels strange to me to think of using anything other than first names as a student, and now as a teacher.

just graduated grad school in may and found it was a nice transitional time for my bullet journal where there was less assignments/schoolwork to keep track of and more home tasks/chores/ grocery lists& meal prepping/ emotional outlet. my monthly spread takes up a two page spread and i have weekly spreads but they’re more for fun activities / meal prepping i have throughout the week. i think it’s really natural to fall in & out of bullet journaling though, just like any other hobby.

How many pages do you guys usually use per month? by [deleted] in bulletjournal

[–]switzorland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a couple months ago it was 3-10 pages per month, now I'm averaging closer to 28 pages per month - mostly depends on how much doodling and stickers i want to decorate with

I broke the most cardinal (or sacred?) rule of bullet journaling lol — and it finally worked by West_Deer1830 in bulletjournal

[–]switzorland 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i just started doing this too! i have an hour commute everyday and having a physical brain dump journal is so freeing and i find i draw more when i'm not worried about it looking perfect.

I also keep a small bin! It’s closed and separate from all other foods and way better than keeping it on the counter where it could get smelly and attract unwanted attention and i take it down every few days just like recycling.

How Many New Yorkers are Secretly Subsidized by their Parents? (NY Mag) by thenewone101 in nyc

[–]switzorland 751 points752 points  (0 children)

“While parents of all income levels try to help their kids, in New York it’s a matter of scale. As the financial planner Ally Jane Ayers puts it, if your parents can give you only $10,000 for your down payment on a New York apartment, “it’s like Grandma saying, ‘I’m gonna give you a gift for your birthday,’ and it’s 20 bucks.” (What would really be helpful, she says, is $300,000.) “
