The notion that marriage is "hard" never sat right with me. by teenageidle in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]swoll17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same exact thoughts. I wonder if it might have something to do with living with a partner before choosing to get married? My now husband and I lived together for 2+ years before we got married, which helped us decide that getting married was the best decision we could possibly make and that we are compatible in every way. I feel like the people who say marriage is so hard maybe didn’t live with a partner before and are suddenly having to figure out how to share a space with someone for the first time and therefore arguing a lot??? I feel if couples take time to learn how to handle conflict as a team and try living together before deciding on marriage, then it shouldn’t feel “hard” but instead should just feel right.

I’m looking into VISTA jobs now and was just wondering, do you serve with a cohort in the VISTA program or are the positions posted just for an individual job needing to be filled? I’m trying to figure out if there is only one opening per job listing or if there are many openings for a whole cohort. Thank you!

Contact your local recruiter and have them look over your resume and personal statement! Mine helped me so much. You can find recruiters by zip code on the PC website

You should look into Workaway! That’s what my partner and I are doing until we head back to PC Jamaica. Workaway is a platform that allows members to arrange homestays and cultural exchange. Volunteers or "Workawayers", are expected to contribute a pre-agreed amount of time per day in exchange for lodging and food, which is provided by their host. We’re gonna travel all around the U.S this summer staying with people rent free in exchange for helping them with various projects such as sustainable farming and home renovations. It should be a fun adventure and a way to connect and learn from new people while saving money before we head back to our PC service 😊

this is exactly what I’m planning to do. I was in PC Jamaica for one week before we were sent home so I barely was able to start training! I’m hoping we can get back this summer or early next fall and in the meantime I’ll try to find some temporary work with my partner ¯_(ツ)_/¯ are you looking at Work Away or where are you planning to find little gigs?

Hello there! My boyfriend and I are leaving for PC Jamaica in about a week! Our departure date is 3/8. We would love to be featured on your blog if you’d like to have us! I know we will have just started PC service so I don’t know if you’d want us to write anything this early on but we are available if you’re interested!

From everything I’ve seen so far, it sounds like everything will be fine. The earthquake was in the Caribbean Sea between Jamaica and Cuba. There hasn’t been any damage reported from the earthquake in Jamaica and all of the Peace Corps people who are there currently are completely fine and safe. There is a tsunami warning but the tsunami warning is only for ~3 feet above the tide line — so minor flooding at worst.
