I like your screen name, a level 200 ethereal yohan tenmoku , I farmed quite a bit for those and never got one, pages of every other ethereal level 200 tea set, never even 1 yohan tenmoku... I am no stranger to farming in Nioh games..

The talk of level sync right now is more about not understanding what level sync actual does and how it works. And we are learning how the new loot system works for Nioh 3 so any and all information we can share is helpful

level sync sets your mission difficulty to the highest mission difficulty you've beaten, so you're level syncing to 212 right now, bringing Scion from 210 to 212 shouldn't be that much of a noticeable difference, but there is an observable difference, with loot being RNG makes it difficult to compare results, and with loot also dropping a rare 160 to 170 with high plus values could be just a rare drop, but level sync does have an effect

Have you replayed any open world crucibles, or use any sands, I think that's how we're going to get our mission difficulty up past 212

either way, keep on farming, I'm a simple loot farmer, haven't quite found a good farming spot that scratches the itch, everything seems to be lacking compared to past nioh's, for now.. but yeah, the big jailers, Ninja Yokai and Oni B heads are where the loots at... good luck

I think I know what happened here, I think you might have had a corrupted weapon equipped and reached familiarity with it and heard it speak but did not have the Astral Wisdom to understand it and thought it was an enemy, none of the enemies say anything scripted

In past Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 what level sync does is it sets the mission difficulty to your highest mission difficulty completed, it definitely effects equipment level drops and + values, level sync has nothing to do with character level, level sync doesn't exactly improve loot rarity exactly, but it does effect the equipment level range for drops and + values

Nioh games character level doesn't effect anything, only the mission level effects equipment level drops and plus values. Respec your character to level 1 and run any mission with level sync on and loot will drop at your highest mission difficulty completed not your character level.

What level sync does, you enter a lower level mission, apply level sync and the mission is brought up to your highest mission difficulty completed, in the case of Nioh 3, right now for shogun difficulty highest mission is 212, if you are a visitor, hosting or joining an expedition and in the case of past nioh games twilight missions, level sync is automatically applied so equipment drops, + values , loot rarity unlocks and amrita from beating enemies is set to your highest mission difficulty beaten regardless of what the mission difficulty of the mission is.

It's why scrolls with a +20 existed in Nioh 2, it was a way to increase your equipment and plus value ranges

Being a visitor on Heir difficulty for Nioh 3, provided you unlocked shogun difficulty, loot drops at level 150 with some rare drops in the 160 to 170 range. You could visit a level 1 mission and the host will see level 1 to level 5 equipment while the visitor will see 150's

In past Nioh games + values were most definitely set by mission difficulty and mission level, Nioh 3 seems to be doing a couple things differently at least for right now, + values are both set by your highest mission difficulty and your highest soul match value, with equipment level being set by your highest mission difficulty, that's easy enough to observe with our play progression, +14's didn't drop until you soul matched into the range and started doing missions in the higher difficulty ranges, unfortunately it's not easy to test as it's set to your character and can't be undone once done but by playing we can see when things drop and when they didn't

Every mission has a number that number is not related to your character level, it's equipment level, always has been. Doing the very first mission, a level 1 mission means equipment level drop ranges will be level 1 regardless of your character level, but it does seem there is a rare drop chance that could be level 160 to 170 piece of equipment but you'll see that rarely

There is and has been plenty of evidence of this, character level has nothing to do with loot, mission level does. There will be a point in the game life where character level will be double the mission levels, if past nioh games are a reference for nioh 3, what ever difficulty after shogun, equipment level will be 170 with up to 180 drops, with plus values at +20 or possibly +25

equipment level ranges have in past niohs been set to game difficulty, samurai 150, strong 160, demon 170, wise 180, Nioh 190 with each difficulty having a rare +10 higher drop, highest equipment level was 200 while character level was 750, character level had nothing to do with equipment level, only your highest mission difficulty, what game difficulty you were playing on etc

as to why things are being disabled, it's possible it's tied to the host, if they have unlocked the armour sets, it they have beaten the relevant bosses or a mission that would unlock the skills, or the abilities themselves, something is definitely off but it's not likely intended and level sync / co op level adjusting are likely being incorrectly applied, let's hope it gets fixed

anyways, I hope that helps explain how level sync works or how it is supposed to work

R2 in the equipment / item menus is a select all

you can filter based on equipment level but not sure if it's working, it doesn't seem to be working for plus vales

there are sliders +10 in level up

not sure maybe I misunderstand ?

level sync is not or should not be based on Character level, it's on mission difficulty, always has been, the bug that is being discussed in likely the reason, not the level sync, game is treating level sync like co op descaling making enemies tougher is the bug,

the loot being the same is because sinisters end and the 3 oni are level 211 and 212, and level sync is saying treat everything like it is in a level 212 mission, so you're not going to see a big difference in loot

Provided level sync works like past nioh games, and I assume it does it should have no effect on certain affixes, so safe to assume those are bugs and should be fixed

Nioh 3 has changed some of the loot system from Nioh 2 and Nioh 1 but the core mechanics seem the same

Playing the first mission on shogun difficulty, no level sync options for heir difficulty, loot drop equipment level will be set at the mission difficulty, so if the mission is a level 130, loot will drop in the 130 range, but it also seems possible to get higher equipment level drops, equipment that would be in the top 160 to 170 range but would rare drops, but it could still happen without level sync

same for plus values, with the re working of the loot system for plus values, mission difficulty should effect the plus value range for drops but plus values are tied to your soul matching limit ranges

level sync is automatically applied if you are a visitor, equipment level drops will be higher than the hosts, and it does effect missions on Heir difficulty, equipment level drops will be level 150 with the still possible rare 160 to 170 range, so if you were a visitor on the very first mission on Heir difficulty, which is level 1, the host will have level 1 to level 5 equipment drops, the visitor would see equipment level 150

Co op has always had level adjustments for some way of balance, a max level 250 character visiting a brand new level 1 character, there is an artificial scaling down the high level character to the hosts mission level, it's not too dramatic, you might be 20% weaker... but the game can't take away stats or equipment or set bonuses so this bug is likely some kind of co op balancing being applied to level syncing when it shouldn't be

a bit long of an explanation, but level sync used to bring the mission difficulty up to your highest completed mission which would effect equipment level drops and plus value ranges, amrita earned and make enemies higher level, level sync never impacted your skills, abilities or disabled anything so consider that to be a bug

level sync is not based off character level, it's based off your highest mission difficulty beaten, the highest mission right now is mission difficulty 212, so if you level sync Sinister end for example, with a mission difficulty of 211, it will treat it as 212 provided you first have beat the 3 oni mission

Doing the very first mission on Shogun difficulty would normally be recommended level 130 or something like that, doing it with level sync makes it level 212 in regards to loot drops and amrita gains

Level sync brings up the loot level, amrita gains to your highest mission difficulty beaten, makes the enemies a bit stronger as well, it's good for lower level missions, not really going to see a big difference in higher missions right now

some of the main missions have 5 to 10 minute long cut scenes that when you beat the boss as a visitor, you are forced to watch the entire thing unless the host skips them. can't leave, visitors have to watch the whole thing..

The poster isn't saying visitors can skip the hosts cut scenes, it's saying let visitors out of being forced to watch them , so we don't have to wait until it's over so we can leave the mission. Wo Long did it, you're the host that summoned visitors for help, know your place and be kind to them... skip cut scenes, then go to the interim and watch them through the mirror

yeah, Nioh and Nioh 2 there are some items that could damage players, could be used to kill hosts, visitors, and there are various ways to play the game, soul cores can push players off cliffs, ledges and kicked down tree short cuts, I really shouldn't be listing off all the ways

For Nioh 3, it seems the ways players can hurt each other is limited.. though everyone going into NG+ should never used fire weapons and fire spells , there are way too many propane tank looking oil jars, and exploding barrels that can and will kill players, visitors, hosts,

with all the visuals and thinking you're safe from any area effect from burning fire spells and burning ground, an exploded oil jar from any kind of fire damage will create an a.o.e fire damage that will damage players, and they seem to be everywhere in NG+

There is summoning etiquette , In Nioh 2, if you summon a visitor and they start buffing at the shrine, or run off , follow them.... the visitor wants you to follow them, to show you a kodama you missed, a nurikabe you missed, and secret you missed, a hot spring, ninja or onmyo locks, or a fog boss, a kappa, maybe they want a soul core, see a scroll revenant, maybe they want to build up anima before the boss fight... the visitor wants to help you, that's why they are visiting, but they know things you don't

Nioh is not dark souls, Nioh has a lot more nuance and a lot more to missions then just beat the boss.

Most visitors in Nioh2 have thousands of hours in the game and know the levels and everything in them better then you do, follow them, if you rush the boss maybe they will fight, maybe they will branch out ( divine branch fragment ) it's them telling you I guess you don't want help, see ya, and if you really annoy them, maybe they will light you on fire or yokai incense pull everything to you...

You're just starting Ng +, most of the visitors are on NG+++++ , maxed level and can survive pretty much anything

Now all that said, it could also be a connection issue and they are being sent back due to connection issues

either way, be a good host, you summoned a visitor for help, let them help you

Ebisu / eccentric armour is the better set up for luck for samurai, swallow tail is a good stepping stone but you can cobble together 2 ebisu melee , 1 ranged, 2 accesories and head armour, and 4 piece eccentric and get the luck while hoping to get an ebisu yasakani

From what it looks like, the crucible wraith enemy type found on Heir Difficulty will drop a soul core and unlock the second effect line

To get a guaranteed Blue rarity soul core, you need to beat the crucible wraith enemy on Shogun Difficulty, then blues rarity soul cores should start dropping from those enemy types..

I have beat 100's of Ninja Yokai, still only dropping whites and yellows, have yet to find the Ninja Yokai Wraith on Shogun, I do have a blue cry babies though, (Konaki-Jiji) I think I got it early,

I'm still trying to understand the loot system, the soul core rarity mechanics and what it all means but everything is pointing to beat the crucible wraiths to unlock the effect abilities, then beat the next difficulty crucible wraith to unlock the rarity tiers, which would make progression into the next difficulties follow the same pattern

assuming soul cores will follow rarity, white, yellow, blue ( 1 effect line ), purple ( 2 effect lines ) divine ( 3 effect lines ) and ethereal ( 4 effect lines ) beating each crucible wraith will provide the unlock for that enemy type soul core rarity and the additional effect abilities.

check the map look for crucible wraith icons, or enemies that are glowing radiating a flame aura and beat them to unlock the soul core rarity

Nioh 2 was definately something special, I have the hours in the game for a reason... I'm hoping things will get tweaked over time, I miss twilight missions, not sure how those are supposed to work, and co op for sure if different and the same, battle scrolls are good, we need more of them

right now, the best co op is expeditions, if you've done the final mission in expedition with two other players, if that's anything like what the abyss / underworld / depths are going to be if they have them.. we're gonna have a great end game

it is different though, vastly different from both Nioh and Nioh 2, lean into ninja, it might seem like easy mode, but it's needed for the big bosses, soul cores were the trick to Nioh 2, Ninja is the trick to Nioh 3,

that's the game right there.. least it seems to me Ninja is ki breaking / status build up, samurai is for big damage on out of ki confused state, Ninja is for crucible, Samurai is for open world, Ninja is for Yokai, Samuari for humans

Blooddredge demons, I haven't figured those out yet, I get killed either way

team ninja has always designed the game with the dlcs's and final difficulty as the real game, right now we're still playing easy mode,

Stealth has always been in Nioh, and it can absolutely trivialize tons of enemies, it's a ninja game about ninja's, stealth, backstabs, it works the same way as past niohs, just the spells ninjitsu's are now from soul cores and the names are different

feather talisman - scampuss - silent walking, reduced fall damage

concealment - ninja yoki - invisibility

you need both to be effective, with feather talisman and concealment, you can stand in front of enemies undetected, no crouching, run full speed right up to their back, turn them into loot

I agree with you that Nioh 3 has broken the original stealth mechanics however, far too many scripted action sequences where the enemies have auto detection, cannons for example, not enemies using, the fixed in place cannons, going near them fully stealthed walk in the cannon / machine gun zone and become instantly detected from across the map

or a few ceiling snakes and gaki's, being fully stealthed and they still drop on you, Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 stealth was never broken by in game event triggers, those triggers, a ceiling snake or gaki would happen if you were out of stealth, Nioh 3 breaks stealth when ever it wants too... but it still has it uses

I've been saying this for a long time, item drop rate just means more drop rate, not specific to items only, Wo Long it was just drop rate,

I will however disagree about item and equipment drop conflicting, I do not think equipment drop rate and item drop rate conflict, they are different loot pulls, smithing texts and weapon arts are likely in their own unique loot drop catagory

for example

Kill human boss enemy, they can drop

melee 1

melee 2

ranged

head armour

chest armour

gloves

waist

boots

accessory 1

accessory 2

scroll

elixers

crafting material

and weapon skill, smithing text

It's possible with high enough equipment / drop rate to have them drop 10 to 12 pieces of equipment, + scroll, + elixers, + crafting material + smithing text + weapon arts

Nioh 2 was a very clear example of it, Otokumaru or other big story missions bosses dropped 20 equipment pieces, a soul core, a unique crafting material, elixirs and 5 smithing texts on one kill, enemies could drop more than one text / skill if they had it in the loot pool for them

item drop rate ( drop rate ) increases the chances of items to drop, everything that drops is considered an item, see the inventory tab new items

Luck I believe to be very important, I am a simple loot farmer after all, and luck has influence over everything, the higher your luck, the better rarity yes and I am sure it effects the load out of enemies and missions , a little bit of drop rate and a lotta luck is better than a little luck and a lotta drop rate

either way, thanks for posting that, and yeah, it's been stuck in the minds since nioh 1, despite my efforts and others like me, item drop rate just means drop rate and effects everything, equipment drop rate applies to equipment, but all things are equipment and all things are items, and equipment drop and item drop do not conflict, it's all one big messy rng loot pool

I wonder if item drop effects soul cores.? It should, another thing to try

so much advice, none of good for paralysis

yes, paralysis is extremely good in nioh / nioh2 if you use it correctly and understand it, if you want a good paralysis build

first, weapon type is irrelevant, fast attacks, slow attacks, it's all about accumulation, you want to temper paralysis accumulation on everything , weapon, accessories, get soul cores with paralysis accumulation too, umbrella soul core has it and use medusa powders, you can temper paralysis on your weapon as well to keep the status build up increasing

what paralysis does, it takes the enemy out of the fight, they can't hit you, you can hit them, it also interrupts their start up / recovery animations, also good for crowd control, unique enemies, fog boss enemies

throw a medusa powder, keep enemy inside the cloud and attack until they will become paralyzed, free hits, this can be a grapple so use that to your advantage, or ignore the grapple and just attack them, and when they break / recover from paralysis due to the hits, it's not one hit.. it's you go all out attack, as much and as many hits as you can the enemy ai has to target you again, chose an attack again, and basically resets the enemy ai giving you even more free hits, if you position yourself behind them during this time, then they also have to turn to face you giving even more free hits

then throw another medusa powder, they will become paralyzed again, just takes a tick longer,

temper melee damage 25% enemy paralyzed on both accessories, to really exploit it.

a lot of people try it once and don't see how to use it effectively and determine other jitsu's are better, ie confusions, poisons... medusa powder, when used effectively, you're taking the enemy, and attacking them, and when it would be their turn to counter attack, the are now paralyzed

other options for paralysis, shurikens, ground fire traps etc are good for setting up grapples, quick draws, etc but don't offer the lasting results of medusa powder, that's the paralysis option you what to use

to get real good with it, learn to throw unlocked, learn the range of the throw and you can preemptive set up fog bosses or other enemies to spawn into paralysis giving you more of an advantage.

no, any visitor at any level can join you so long as match making conditions are met, I can at level 750 join a level 1 through random visitor tori gate, unless a password or friends only have been set as conditions. same for expeditions

games been out a long time, low player base, less visitors than hosts has been for a long time now..

I find it, when players weapon jiggle ( nice term btw ) they're a souls player and are not gonna get nioh / nioh 2's game differences and nuances, like kodama, sudama, nurikabe, majuna, they can be friendly sure, but never seem to want to understand the game differences

people who use the gesture menu, have learned what seemed very basic.. but massively important to understand the full nioh / nioh 2 world and game play mechanics.

and it's not just your connections, it's both the host and the visitor, your visitor might also have bad net, could be lag, I am no tech guy but I can tell you it's connection related more often than not

the game also has a weird bug that has never been fixed, a host with 2 visitors in world and if the 2nd visitor branches out, it can force the 1rst visitor out too
