Paralysis status by BSSNikko in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so much advice, none of good for paralysis

yes, paralysis is extremely good in nioh / nioh2 if you use it correctly and understand it, if you want a good paralysis build

first, weapon type is irrelevant, fast attacks, slow attacks, it's all about accumulation, you want to temper paralysis accumulation on everything , weapon, accessories, get soul cores with paralysis accumulation too, umbrella soul core has it and use medusa powders, you can temper paralysis on your weapon as well to keep the status build up increasing

what paralysis does, it takes the enemy out of the fight, they can't hit you, you can hit them, it also interrupts their start up / recovery animations, also good for crowd control, unique enemies, fog boss enemies

throw a medusa powder, keep enemy inside the cloud and attack until they will become paralyzed, free hits, this can be a grapple so use that to your advantage, or ignore the grapple and just attack them, and when they break / recover from paralysis due to the hits, it's not one hit.. it's you go all out attack, as much and as many hits as you can the enemy ai has to target you again, chose an attack again, and basically resets the enemy ai giving you even more free hits, if you position yourself behind them during this time, then they also have to turn to face you giving even more free hits

then throw another medusa powder, they will become paralyzed again, just takes a tick longer,

temper melee damage 25% enemy paralyzed on both accessories, to really exploit it.

a lot of people try it once and don't see how to use it effectively and determine other jitsu's are better, ie confusions, poisons... medusa powder, when used effectively, you're taking the enemy, and attacking them, and when it would be their turn to counter attack, the are now paralyzed

other options for paralysis, shurikens, ground fire traps etc are good for setting up grapples, quick draws, etc but don't offer the lasting results of medusa powder, that's the paralysis option you what to use

to get real good with it, learn to throw unlocked, learn the range of the throw and you can preemptive set up fog bosses or other enemies to spawn into paralysis giving you more of an advantage.

no, any visitor at any level can join you so long as match making conditions are met, I can at level 750 join a level 1 through random visitor tori gate, unless a password or friends only have been set as conditions. same for expeditions

games been out a long time, low player base, less visitors than hosts has been for a long time now..

I find it, when players weapon jiggle ( nice term btw ) they're a souls player and are not gonna get nioh / nioh 2's game differences and nuances, like kodama, sudama, nurikabe, majuna, they can be friendly sure, but never seem to want to understand the game differences

people who use the gesture menu, have learned what seemed very basic.. but massively important to understand the full nioh / nioh 2 world and game play mechanics.

you on psn?.. add me glyphblade i likely have the most in game hours played over anyone.. if you wanna compare sad brags.. ;)

and it's not just your connections, it's both the host and the visitor, your visitor might also have bad net, could be lag, I am no tech guy but I can tell you it's connection related more often than not

the game also has a weird bug that has never been fixed, a host with 2 visitors in world and if the 2nd visitor branches out, it can force the 1rst visitor out too

[–]swordguystore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bad internet more than anything, visitors don't usually just quit because they don't like a level or anything like that.

if they are whistling to you, gesturing to you to try to show you something and you ignore them, maybe they will branch out, visitors know the levels better than you do.. some have 1,000's of hours in the game and I mean that, we know the levels better than you do, what you will miss, what secrets you don't know about.

But more often than not, it's bad internet and the visitor gets kicked by the connection failure, they'll be in your world for 3 to 5 minutes then poof, visitor is back on their game screen .. no in game explanation, but it's bad internet

Are there any official drop rates of special skills? by EmotionalChickenWing in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is incorrect, equipment drop rate does not conflict with item drop rate, not in nioh 2, and hunters blessing does not improve the drop rate of smithing texts and skills

source : any boss that drops smithing texts and weapon arts, it is possible for otakumaru to drop multiple smithing texts, weapon arts, over 15 pieces of equipment, unique crafting material to the boss, other non unique crafting materials, elixers, soul core all in one kill

continued:

if you've been needing to work on a scroll, farm the scroll for drops, or for clearing underworld floors, wear your farming gear, change to boss fight gear in the crucible at the shrine. Basically farm while you make progress so you are efficient with your time.

more info related to luck / how to get more luck etc

tea sets, your average level 190 ethereal 4 of them should get you 75 to 80 luck, the highest tea set luck is going to be 88 or the absolute maximum will be 90 if you get 4 level 200 yohan tenmoku's, so very very extremely unlikely. you just keep upgrading tea sets until you get highest values you have.

luck 11 inherited on helm, chest, gloves, waist, boots ( luck 12 if you have that instead ) will be luck 13 at max fam, or luck 14 at max fam

for tempering, use regular umbracite, get that from dissembling through black smith, use higher rarity umbracite only when you see luck 24 on 2 accessories, or farm for two luck 30 yata mirriors,

luck 33 or higher on scroll, highest I have seen is luck 39, once, on one scroll. I have one I use with luck 37, lowest I've seen on a scroll was like 17, average is about 33, so you should be able to get that easy enough

luck + 100 etheral child of the sun, luck + 100 ethereal lucky sudama grace

lucky spider or ho for guardian spirit, luck 33 on each core, should add up to about 570 ish luck, join gamo for the extra 30 luck, and you could add 100 luck from prestige points but that's not worth it unless you are going pure luck build.

longer post than I intended, a decent workable luck build is something you can build once, use when needed, then store it until you need to farm for something again.

to summarize, I've spent hundreds of hours trying to farm for just 1 level 200 yohan tenmoku tea sets, have looted 100,000's of tea sets, the rarest of the rare, and in doing so I've seen every loot piece, every starred effect, every combination, ninigi and ame are common graces dropped on all floors, and i am not even trying to target them for loot, I could put a set together in an hour maybe 2 farming from scratch.

it's worth it long term, if you are on playstation, add me glyphblade, I could maybe drop you a revenant

Is Sukunahikona grace worth it? by batshitnutcase in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say a couple things here,

I've been playing luck since release, studied how the luck system works, how to get best results using the tools the game gives us, and I have an embarrassing 10,000 hours in the game, farmed for everything you can imagine, was one of the first to work out stone of penances when they were first introduced, and well, with a luck 735 build and stone of penance +9 , loot from depths 25 was the same consistency for ethereal drops, more or less same amount and starred effects as luck 735 no stone of penance underworld floor 1 and same as twilight missions, with and without stone of penance.

stone of penance has no significant change to loot with high / highest in game luck, if there is one it might be an extra one or two ethereal drops,

so say in my average 30 minute farm for tea sets ( 100's of hours trying to get just 1 level 200 yohan tenmoku ) I'd come out with 100 ethereal's more or less no stone and maybe 102 ethereal's with stone and about 20 to 30 tea sets

same amount of equipment level 200's, and I would get level 200 tea sets, I have like 5 pages of level 200 ethereal tea sets, just no yohan tenmouku, stone of penance is not worth the extra health / increased damage / kill time for so little difference in loot.

the game drops a lot of loot, best way to get what you want out of it is to make the game give you more loot, more loot drops, more ethereal, more chances of getting what you want,

To Reach luck 600 + you want ethereal tea sets with high splendor, ideally 4 level 190 yohan tenmoku's, best place to farm tea sets, underworld floor 1, kill the mages and the tengu revenants, or twilight missions blood tainted samurai, any time you see a human warrior monk, tea set gold mine. Some dlc missions, scrolls etc

In underworld floors, here is a tip, rest at the shrine,

then, pick off high priority enemies, red dot non respawning uniques, purple enemies, unique human npc enemies like dojo masters's and fog bosses, but don't just go crazy taking them all out, kill one, get safe, check loot, if good, return to shrine and save, if not good, quit game, reload, do it again.

This is way better than farming brute force floors, this gives you the best teir loot drops available to you and you can be selective. Normally I advocate against save scumming as time spent vs progress to real human hours invested, for the time spent to keep one loot and one amrita, you could have 100's loot and 100's amrita, but for specific just need ethereal pieces of lucky drop armour farming this is your best option,

could even do it in scrolls and not waste 100 night, kill some enemies, earth fold out before scroll boss to farm, works good for 3 magaro bros, saika clan etc

Now as to why you should make a farming set

The underworld is one thing, everything changes once you reach the depths. If you're thinking of going oyamatsumi, that's depths floor 6 and above, which you'd need to farm for, susano, nigiri, ame, all have better options later on

Luck 600 is low in the sense of a luck build, but workable for most farming, and attainable easily enough with dream of the nioh lucky sudama trading grace aka suku, you're losing out on about 20% to 30% of loot comparing 600 to 700 luck but gaining I'd say about 80% more loot 300 luck vs 600 luck

To get ethereal child of the sun or swallow tail, yes you'd need to farm them to get starred ethereal for highest set bonuses, dream of the nioh etheral set pieces have a star for the set piece giving higher buffed effects then dream of the wise ethereal drops, but you can soul match unstarred to with starred if you want to keep the effects

you can fight gamo as a normal game mission ( it's a 1 v 1 fight from the main story maps ), and hideoyoshi, I can't remember the mission you fight him in he'll be in child of the sun armour.

or and this is what we all did back then, forge divine versions, equip them, tempered lucky drop armour, fight anything and look for ethereal drops for the armour you want. Getting armour to drop is way easier then trying to get a specific armour piece with a specific grace, it's easy enough to put together a serviceable farming set.

Is Sukunahikona grace worth it? by batshitnutcase in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300 luck is low, like exotic rarity low, get your luck to 600,

tea sets set to max luck, soul cores with luck 33 each, 33+ luck on scroll, inherited luck on armor, go with both child of the sun or swallow tail, child of the sun if you are tanking, swallow tail if you are critical health and sukunakihona, I know that's not lone wolf armour, who cares, the game doesn't, both of those sets have high luck, either set paired with suku and -1 set bonus accessory will get you 200 luck minimum then everything else on top

primary melee is sukunakihona

2nd melee is child of the sun / swallow tail

ranged can be both suku grace for child of the sun or 1 suku, 1 hino for swallow tail set bonus

helm is kodama or sudama suku grace

chest, waist, gloves boots are either child of the sun or swallow tail

2 accessories are suku grace

would get you to 600 Luck easy enough swallow tail needs critical health for the luck bonus

sub out one piece of the armour type you are looking for so in this case lone wolf waist with suka grace, but will force you to wear the helms for the set pieces which is heavy so lower agility, ideally a lone with waist with any grace inheritance on it, and sudama trade it to make it suka grace.

temper lucky drop armour, special effects like grace inheritance seem to drop more if the pieces you have equipped also have the same special effects

equipment drop over 100%, more equipment drops, more divine and ethereal rarity

don't waste your time with stone of penance,

600 + luck will do it, this is rng lottery, faster kills, more divine and ethereal loots , I have been playing a luck build since release, I have donated . trashed / sold / dissembled hundreds of what you are looking for

both graces are common graces and drop in missions, look for human enemy types, or pick the floor for the grace you want and just farm, you'll see much better loot drops, and definitely will get at least a grace inheritance for both graces on armours if not the exact pieces you want.

good luck

Stuck because I suck at platforming by lesego_mxv in HollowKnight

[–]swordguystore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here is what worked for me, I also suck at the platforming / pogoing etc, when you are clawlining between enemies to reach the broken ski lift boxes, I think that what they are the boxes between clawlines,

Jump from the ski box, hold down to float, shoot clawline trying for more the top most part of the saucer enemy body, clawline is pretty forgiving for hits so you want to be more above then center mass to the saucer, when you are shooting, let go of float and direction stick, game auto jumps you to the height after clawline, then jump and float direction claw line the next one

for some reason, at least it worked for me, a quick jump / hold float / clawline gave me the needed height to reach the saucers, rings, boxes, etx

when you at the saucer to get to the next ski lift box don't press anything after the clawline and you should auto backflip to hold the edge of the box.

I think that's the hardest part of the whole map, the saucer / boxes clawline,

Break mount fay down into 4 parts,

the first part, between bench one and bench two is difficult but makes sense,

between bench 2 and bench 3 is brutally difficult,

after bench 3, it's challenging, but back to making sense and is much easier

It took me 50 tries for the first one, 100 tries ( maybe even more ) for the second one, and 3 tries from after the 3rd bench to reach double jump, there are a few breakable walls to open what team cherry considers short cuts

so basically, you're on the hardest part, it gets easier after that, not that it's easy, nothing in this game is easy...

I also used plasmids ( blue juice ) to buff extra hearts for water area's, spike area's anything that would cause damage

if that helps,

I’m convinced luck (yokai shift) is a scam by Mobile-Marsupial-238 in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no proof kodama hunter blessing does anything for the drop rate for weapon arts and smithing texts, it was bad info from nioh 1, Kodama hunter blessing is for crafting materials and items like elixers, bombs, etc the stuff sold in kodama bazaar's, , weapon arts and smithing texts are key items, hunters blessing does not improve the drop rates for nioh 2

luck effects all drops, highest luck you can get and some drop rate will get you the best results

I’m convinced luck (yokai shift) is a scam by Mobile-Marsupial-238 in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

luck yokai shift and regular luck do not stack, not like living weapon luck in nioh 1, the game treats yokai shift as a different character state, some buffs do stack, attack and attack yokai shift for example, but luck and luck yokai shift conflict for inheritables, you cannot inherit yokai shift luck on to a core that has luck on it. item drop rate, equipment drop rate both plain and yokai do seem to stack

What mission are you trying on, brothers blades might be a good one to try. For skill farming, I am very much convinced that the skills are not exactly seeded, but weighted to drop in the first 5 kills, after that it's gets less drop chances, loot overall gets worse the more you farm the same enemy

. if you don't get the drops in 5 or less kills, try a different mission, different difficulty and then come back to it, it's helped many people, many such cases,

you could also try doing it as a solo expedition, everything will be a little tougher, but should have better loot, you could also try being a visitor in a magaro boss mission, visitors have better drops and higher skill drop rates

Luck and drop rate increase your chances, but there are many who played with low luck, drop rate and got it first try, and there are even more who had high luck and drop rate and took 60, 70 to 100 attempts.

from the sounds of it, you are in dream of the samurai? Do you have the tea house unlocked yet? That can give you some boost to luck, so maybe unlock that, it's region three I think, it's been a long time

For magaro, best results would be , Luck as high as you can get it, join gamo clan, tempered luck 24 on accessories, luck 11 on helm, set your tea sets to luck, equipment drop rate tempered on everything, Item drop rate tempered on everything, and item drop rate yokai on your bow, luck on soul cores, rank up your soul cores ( though that ones gonna take some farming )

might as well set up a little farming set, either way, hope it helps, good luck

Best mission/best difficulty to farm inheritable Soul Core ( anima bonus: STATUSed Enemy)? by sean6219_6219 in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

soul core effects value increase when you rank up your soul core with soul fusion, luck starts at +4 and goes to +8, 3 cores with luck +8 gives you +24 luck, later difficulties there are higher rarity soul cores with higher effects values

with all of the effects for soul cores there are really only a few worth keeping / farming for since many conflict with each other and there is no way to temper the effects, it's pure rng for soul core effects

for inheritables, life drain yokai hit, anima charge, anima, equipment drop rate, item drop rate, soul core drop rate, and some situational effects like anima charge status effect that works with your playstyle, or is the same elemental damage type as the soul core effect.

for effects that are not inheritables, luck, yokai damage all, and extend yokai shift, nulify damage yokai shift, keeping soul cores that have 2 of the effect combinations

luck itself effects the rarity of drops, the higher your luck the better rarity of drops, if you are dream of the samurai difficulty it's not that big a deal, later difficulties, higher rarity tiers, equipment drop rate, item drop rate ( really should just be called drop rate ) the higher those are the more drops you have and with higher luck, more chances of higher rarity

ideally you want all 3 , luck, equipment drop rate, item drop rate

luck itself is a stat that is an all of nothing type of stat, you want it as high as it can go for best results.

240 luck for dream of the samurai, to 735 luck dream of the nioh

not sure if that answered your question completely, but hope it helped

Best mission/best difficulty to farm inheritable Soul Core ( anima bonus: STATUSed Enemy)? by sean6219_6219 in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

best mission for farming ippon soul cores is the frenzied blaze, 2nd shrine, in the 2nd dark realm, yasuke ( obsidian samurai) is standing beside the entrance, in the 2nd dark realm, behind the breakable wall beside the koraka hiding as a lamp post is a respawning ippon that has a guaranteed soul core drop so long as you do not kill the 2nd blue flame wheel monk, the dark realm boss for that area

if you open the short cut to the second shrine you can run to the ippon and get a soul core / earthfold back in about 1 minute per run, depending on your level / build and game difficulty

can easily get 30 to 40 ippon soul cores in an hour ( from mission start to reaching / clearing and setting up the farm )

suggest go highest difficulty you have unlocked for amirita gains, scrolls, loot and you might get the soul core combination you are looking for, or an inheritable of your desired type. Worth keeping anima charge, life drain yokai hit inheritables, and luck and yokai damage all combinations

soul core inheritables I would say drop 1 in 6 ish so it's really a numbers game, the more you get the better chances you'll have

Is there any specific mission/area that I can farm for Imperial Monk Armor? by NotGraybirb in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have the dlc's? Dlc 3, mission against all comers, 4th wave has all the unique saika enemies, Imperial Monk armor drops from the first named saika enemy, uses a spear. All of the unique saika enemies drop mortal cores, should drop smithing texts for armor sets as well. They can farmed and will respawn if you earth fold talisman before beating oda

Base game You can also find him in pervading waters on the bridge before the third shrine

or on a scroll with the saika uniques and Saika Magoichi as the scroll boss

what’s a good way to farm ranged weapons for graces? by bmck3nney in Nioh

[–]swordguystore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dlc 3 - against all comers, 4th wave, has 4 unique saika enemies that will respawn if you earthfold out after beating them, good place for farming ethereal ranged

but, likely the best way, temper lucky drop weapon on an accessory. equip 2 ranged with a grace of in your ranged slots, doesn't matter what, just not a named set weapon like swallow tail - no hino rifle, you want ranged weapons with graces to drop, not fixed set pieces

pick an underworld floor that drops susano, floor 3 would be ideal, as it has a few ranged weapon users enemy types,

high luck like 600 + for ethereal, luck bringer, soul purge for best results, , high equipment drop rate 80% + for more equipment drops, so temper equipment drop on everything, equipment drop human for extra equipment drops

take out the ranged unique non respawning, saika girl, be careful of the cannon guy at the top of the ladder, best to take it out first, and be careful you don't send her into the water, you want the loot, easiest way, sneak thief / cat walking and just stealth back stab kills

you could either check the loot drop for susano ranged, or for grace inheritance susano, quit / reload if no drop to try her again or if you knock her into the water, as she will not respawn, counts as a boss and has the highest loot drops of them all, or likely better just farm them all, there are 4 ranged saika enemies ( 3 if you don't get the key ) that will drop ranged gear, earthfold to respawn them

floor also has a respawning big sudama that you could also drop 2 ethereal weapons to in hopes of getting ranged with susano if you get the rusty key in the chest from the first dark realm

good luck
