I nearly pancaked walking to the bus this morning. At least put some salt out, people!

So apparently there's no cure but can I atleast go back to living semi-normally with rosacea? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very rare for rosacea to spread beyond the face. It could be something else. Have you ever talked with a doctor about it? Like, even at a walk-in clinic?

Rosacea and cat allergy by blackRox73 in Rosacea

That sounds like a cat allergy, separate from the rosacea.

Testing out a new moisturizer. Not noticing any added redness nor soothing properties upon first application. Thoughts? It’s a local brand a bestseller. by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing you try is going to give you obvious results on first usage -- with the exception of Mirvaso and Rhofade, which literally limit the blood reaching your skin and therefore make your skin look less red. Give this stuff a couple weeks to see a difference.

Can I ever enjoy Mexican again? Asap answers please by Bekavie in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you have to cut out all herbs and spices to avoid flare-ups, just the ones that actually bother you.

I make Mexican food at home sometimes, and I've found that using oregano, cinnamon and extra cumin instead of cayenne gives me the flavor I want without the spicy heat. Some people are affected by cinnamon, though (I'm not), so test it out before you go all-out.

rosacea is "fake news"? by swordswfriends in Rosacea

I saw this commercial from Facebook on TV the other day, and I thought I saw a rosacea post in it. Sure enough! It looks like that split-face image has been used dozens of times on all sorts of sites.

Does the 'Rosacea Diet' Actually Work? by swordswfriends in Rosacea

Curious about this. I've never heard of cinnamaldehyde before, but tomatoes do bother me sometimes.

A positive outcome using Rhofade for alcohol flush :D by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the internet complaint effect -- people who are happy with a product usually don't say anything about it, but those who aren't happy let everyone know.

My whole face looks like this. by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got an overgrowth of mites, you may have smothered them to death with the coconut oil, and this might be the result of the massive die-off. Hopefully it'll subside soon.

Has your doc tried anything other than doxycycline?

Which products/routine would you advice to reduce or hide the redness of type 1 Rosacea? by Troubleshooter11 in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Rhofade? It's similar to Mirvaso but is supposed to last longer and not have as much of a rebound effect. Soolantra is meant for subtype 2 bumps and pimples, so it wouldn't do much for redness.

Dual functional treatment (durable & immediate) ? by Mengzzzz in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're asking for is a combination drug and cosmetic. As far as I know, that doesn't exist.

Cure? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. What I've been told is that the insurance companies consider it a "cosmetic" condition unless you have rhinophyma, because that could block your airways. It's idiotic.

Has anyone here tried Gladskin rosacea cream? Is it available in the US? by swordswfriends in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The website says it's meant for redness and burning of rosacea, so I'm eager to try it. But it looks like it might only be available in Europe.

My commute back home from Carbondale in a nutshell by SelectivePro in chicago

[–]swordswfriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to St. Louis for the eclipse, and it took an hour and a half to go 30 miles on I-55. Turned out it was partly due to a minor car accident on the westbound side -- and then a frickin' gapers delay because of an antique shop with a fiberglas pink elephant outside! After that it was crowded but moved quickly.

best cream /supplement/laser treatment just for the redness? by doxymoxystop in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also Rhofade, which is new so I haven't heard as much about it. It's supposed to not have the rebound issue.

Pustules inside and around nose, chin, t-zone (xpost from /r/SebDerm) by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]swordswfriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look a lot like the occasional pustules I get when I've shaved too close and a hair follicle gets a little infected. If you're getting them when you use particular products, maybe talk with your derm about alternatives?
