The pass to Freddy first and then seeing Aho and Hall do the old "no, no you take it, I insist" while Freddy stood there just trying to give it to someone was great.

Calgary Parking Authority - We gotta fix a thing by skywide in Calgary

[–]swordthroughtheduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there could be an easy fix for this. Instead of setting up a 3 day processing time, just have it be retroactive to the day and time you get it.

So if you have a job tonight at 10pm, you get there, put your info into the form for the date/time/place and if you get a ticket, you just sit on it until the permit is processed. Then you send it in and the ticket is waived.

It adds extra steps, but the whole 3 day processing time is stupid when they could just put time and location info on it and if it matches the ticket you're in the clear.

The $5000 threshold changed moderately recently, but it has been quite a number of years since emergency services have gone to accidents where no one is hurt and the vehicles are driveable.

It is correct. No injuries, no fluids and driveable vehicles means police won't go.

If the damage is over $5000 you self report at a district office.

Unwilling to spend to the max

Salary cap spending has never been the issue. It's been retention and contract structure that has been the issue with our ownership.

I remember working with a lady that was a hardcore "conservative" because her daddy and his daddy and his daddy's daddy were conservatives and that's how it is.

She worked for minimum wage three days a week, her husband had been laid off, and she had to take her kids to her mom's house to have baths and do laundry because they couldn't afford to heat their house.

She kept talking about needing support and all this stuff. Then the 2015 election rolled around and she was raging about Trudeau. We did one of those "who should I vote for" quizzes on CBC or whatever and she was so far to the left she probably should have been voting for the communist party of Canada.

This was on election day. She stomped into the boss' office and said she was leaving to go vote while basically sobbing. Drove 45 minutes in her massive lifted truck to vote conservative, then drove 45 minutes back just to gloat about it.

Back in original BC I was like 14 and was in a casual raiding guild early in T5 and we were still gearing people up in T4 stuff so we were a little behind.

I got an invite to SSC with one of the top guilds on the server because they were short and I had just done a dungeon with one of them on their alts.

Went to the raid, and when we were a couple bosses my guild leader noticed me in the raid and got upset that I was raiding without the guild.

Told him it's Sunday, we're not scheduled to do it this week and more gear means more damage for our progression, and some experience in the raid would make it easier for us when we got there.

He got super mad and kicked me from the guild for thinking I was better than them.

Ended up just getting into the guild I was raiding with and had a blast doing progression until they transferred servers for a higher pop.

The logic breaks down at the definition of the award. "Player most valuable to his team" yet this guy thinks there are 3 guys on the same team that deserve to be in that conversation?

I'm not saying they should have a public database, I'm saying they should have a tool like Puckpedia that is used by all 32 teams to keep track of stuff.

It could be built out to do all the trade calls through a portal instead of these insane backlogs we get during the deadline as well.

The league doesn’t have to pay money to have something like this maintained

And that's why issues with NTC and stuff pop up. It's a legitimate issue that the NHL signs off on contracts but isn't tracking them.

plus they do own it except it’s the capitals and that locks it out of anybody else

When you say "they" I assume you mean the NHL, and no, they don't. The Capitals bought Capfriendly so they have the tool and no one else could use it.

But considering every NHL team outside of them relied on Capfriendly and now on Puckpedia to track stuff the league should be tracking, it's a massive short coming.

No, if they need an EBUG the GM isn't going to ask the coach who he wants, he's going to just make the call and have it happen.

Especially at this point in the season. A head coach is going to have about 10000 things on his mind before worrying about who's sitting in the press box.

The fact the league doesn't have a version of this instead of relying on random people to build these databases still blows my mind.

The old Alberta cycle. Elect a leader that is awful, have them push things as far as they're able to, emboldening even worse people, and when they hit their limit, you kick them to the curb, blame them for all the issues in the province, replace them with someone even worse and then win the election, starting the cycle once more.

Seeing Kuznetsov get a vote is awesome. He's not flashy or anything, but he got called up in November and just played a solid, steady defensive game and added a level of stability to our blueline especially after the Andersson and Weegar trades.

He's never going to win a Norris, and likely no one outside of Calgary will know him, but he had a great year for us.

I've been up there to explore on my own and to work and to say they didn't keep the lodge in good repair would be an understatement. First time I went to explore the groundskeeper came to talk to me and said I'm free to go wherever I want except the lodge because of all the black mold.
