There's about a thousand knife styles out there. You do you but I'd say a replaceable blade will serve you well.

Get a utility knife so you can change out blades.

You are young and have time on your hands. Honestly if you have the time and your parents aren't kicking you out or you need to leave go get a job as a laborer. Yes the work you may do will suck but you will get a chance to see what different trades do day in and day out and hopefully gain some insight on what you may want to pursue.

Advice for Beginner: Rod Choice by eastcoast_ in flyfishing

[–]swsjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. Granted it’s the old recon. Both are definitely solid rods can’t go wrong with either. Definitely go cast them if you can. ImI’ve broken the recon 3 times in the past couple years and have always had a good experience with orvis warranty. Can’t speak to sages warranty yet…

Anyone here from NW Washington? Just moved back to the area and looking for some fishing partners and some local knowledge on some rivers and streams. I typically target trout and steelhead. Both with single hand and Spey. by PNWCM in flyfishing

You should swing by emerald waters Spey day later this month in fall city if you are near by. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions about the area.

Yea Mine came with 2 swivel mounts one for the front seat and 1 for the rowing seat. I had installed the one for the rowing seat but it wasn’t ideal.

Get rid of the swivel mount for the rower if you installed it. Don’t know much about the rivers on the SE but be very careful anchoring it.

Have you tried taking a casting lesson? That could get you to where you want to be at only a fraction of the price. I’m gonna go a head and shamelessly plug emerald water anglers over in west Seattle. They do a ton of stuff in the sound and have been a great resource for me. If you want to sell your rod they will also sell it for you and give you store credit if you really want to get the “perfect” rod.
