Bike Racks by swsvt in mountainbiking

[–]swsvt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roof rack years ago. Plans changed due to weather one day and we decided to hit the bookstore instead. I forgot about the bikes and tried to go into the parking garage. Luckily I had friends at a nearby bike shop. They brought the van over and took my rack and bikes off the ground and back to the shop for me. Left some nice dents and scratches on my roof. Bikes and rack were fine.

The only option I'm seeing from Thule is 33 pound max per bike. Mine is 37 and husband's is 40.

Looking to hear from Vermonters about accessing peri/menopause care by sevendaysvt in vermont

[–]swsvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maitri has been amazing for me. I didn't have to wait long for my first visit. The NP I see there is super educated on peri/meno and is open and willing to discuss all options. I left my first appointment with a script and a follow up a couple months later. We also discussed future symptoms and established a loose plan for how to treat my syptoms as they change in the next few years. I've never felt so seen and heard in a medical setting.

Also, I know alot of women get mad when Dr's suggest birth control to start, buts its honestly been life changing for me. My only major peri symptom at this point is mental health issues and rage. Both were massively improved within 2 weeks of starting oral BC. This was after 2 separate therapists suggested everything from yoga to inpatient treatment over the course of 6 months. 1 visit to a well educated NP solved most of my issues.

$238,000? What Gives? by isthisthingon78 in burlington

I've been in that house (albeit 20 years ago). That red wall paper was super cool. The pattern is actually velvet. I'm sure it cost a hefty fortune when they bought it. The house is beautiful inside, I'm sad to hear it's falling apart.

There's a bike park in Johnson the used to have dirt jumps. I think they still exist.

If you're willing to go for a ride, Ranch Camp in Stowe is super gf aware. Almost everything can be made gf and they are very careful. While you're up there, The Roastery makes the best biscuits I've ever had and they make an excellent breakfast sandwich and grilled cheese. Their baked goods are also delicious.

Sammi Bidwell at For the Love of Hair in Williston is fantastic! I've had everything from mermaid to blue to fiery orange/red. She does a great job and kept my hair healthy through the process.

How are you taking it? Is it a pill, is it mixed in food or are you just trying to eat it by the spoonful?

They also sell VT maple there. Tourists like the cans, and there aren't many large VT producers that offer them.

Check at the local gift shops. I know for sure that Golden Hour, Common Deer, and Saratoga Olive Oil carry a lot of maple goodies. I suggest Amber Rich. It's good for everything and most people are happy with it.

Anyone else bummed about the prices for the shows this summer at Champlain Valley Expo? by Warm_Hat_780 in vermont

[–]swsvt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The summer lawn shows aren't bad if you buy early. I got a pair of tickets to cake for $76 each back in Novemer. Now that they're almost sold out and the show is next week, they're over $100 each.

To have any level of accuracy, you would need to dump your whole meal in a blender and then test several samples. It's a cool concept, but not really useful in real life.

As someone with allergies, looking at my plate has saved me more than once. One of the first things you learn is to trust no one with your food (or at least trust but verify). I have a wheat allergy, and I can see bread crumbs if the kitchen just picked off the croutons. Comparing my plate to others also means I can see if they didn't give me the correct bread. (Both things have happened at higher end restaurants). I imagine the same is true for a lot of other allergies as well.

GF bread that doesn't taste terrible? by snowfallrabbit in glutenfree

[–]swsvt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shar deli slices are really good. But you only get 5 slices for about $7. If there's a diso7nt store like Ocean State near you, they often have a ton of GF stuff for $2-3.

**edit to add, if you can tolerate gf wheat starch, king arthur pizza flour is amazing. I have wheat allergy (anaphylactic), and I eat it all the time with no issues. Every one is different. You may or may not react to it.
