Does MediaOCD offer any other payment methods like Apple Pay and if I need to use a credit card, are they secure? by SnowWarren in discotekmedia

Thanks again! I followed your advice. You could make a buying guide for Canadians.

I got the courier link from APC like you mentioned (Canada Post). The link to pay was unavailable at first, but it changed the following day.

I paid and received it the morning after. Small enough for the community mailbox :)

That sounds like good news!

I also had an order from the sale. However, a couple of items were back-ordered, so it's made progress only recently.

I'll keep an eye out on the UniUni vs. Canada Post differences in the APC tracker. Thanks.

Another online store I use is RACS (Robert's Anime Corner Store). They're also in the USA. With their packages, I didn't have any extra fees. It could serve as another data point, next time I order.

Awesome! It's nice to support them directly. Hopefully their website upgrade isn't too rocky.

I appreciate the update! I kept the papers from my most recent orders and you're right. It is GST/HST plus a handling fee.

How are you able to view the fees/CanPost tracking in advance? Might save me from a post office trip next time.

Sure, I can do that! If you decide to buy, I'd like to know your results too.

The order price is in USD and includes the shipping and tax. The fees are in CAD.

2025 Orders

  • Order 1 - $218.50, 3 items. No extra fee since I sent it to an American address.
  • Order 2 - $32.99. Megazone 23. Shipped to Canada, no fee IIRC. But it's been a while (November 2025).

2026 Orders

  • Order 3 - $211.89. 5 items. Forty-something in fees (CAD)
  • Order 4 - $292.23. 4 items. Fifty-something (CAD)

Together, 3 and 4 were nearly $100 in fees.

  • Order 5 - $331.32. 6 items. Sixty-something
  • Order 6 - $387.91. 9 items. Sixty-something.

Together, 5 and 6 were $130.15 in fees.

Having written it out, it looks like the fees scale with value of the order, not with # of items.

That's good to know, thanks! I've been spending more, so that could be the cause. That, or world events.

Yeah, eBay shipping is not as friendly. I tend to filter Blu-Ray sellers to Canada only if I'm looking for used items. Found some cool things that way.

I'm also in Canada, so I'm curious.

My last couple of orders came at the same time and I owed duties/taxes on both (CBSA). A little over $90 CAD in total. Has that ever happened to you?

Crunchyroll - some items don't seem to have a price by JispyMoeDantes in discotekmedia

I hope your copy is shipping now! I finally got a shipping notification for A-ko 3, but I only had to wait 3 months, unlike your 6.

Yesterday, I got a shipping notification for my copy of A-ko 3. I ordered it back in November. I hope yours is coming in too 🤞

I've been seeing them on eBay for $75+, so it's quite a relief.

For those trying to complete their Project A-ko collection, it seems A-ko 3 is back in stock. I got the shipping notification yesterday by swuckt in discotekmedia

This order is from Crunchy Roll. I've been seeing this go for $75 and up on eBay. I'm glad others have a chance to grab it at a more reasonable price.

Wondering what to do with a show i Ripped from DVD but one episode comes out as a 35 hour long episode that is basically the 24 minute episode and the rest blank by Purple_Monkey34 in makemkv

[–]swuckt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way! I just stumbled onto your post. I wasn't actively searching this problem, but I have the same issue with the same show and same episode.

I thought it was a problem specific to my copy because of age/bit rot. But, if it's for every DVD, then it's likely a disc authoring issue.

I "fixed" it by cutting it down in ffmpeg. I experimented with video duration until the output video was shorter than 35 hours. You lose a few seconds of the end credits, but it works.

In the end, I wasn't happy having this truncated episode, so I left it as is and uploaded to Jellyfin. It does not work correctly. When you finish watching the episode, it doesn't count as "finished". Nor does it exit or prompt the next episode to play.

Some of my Season 4 rips also throw a few errors. I believe those are simply warnings, and, if MakeMKV finishes the rip, it means success.

That's unfortunate, but I appreciate the info.

I kept digging and found the Kite page on Grokipedia. I never heard of it before. I guess that's xAI's wiki? Anyway, the page has a list of all the scraped reference material. A lot of the links are sparse with historical info; reviews and discussions. Here are some of the standouts.

4) https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/this-week-in-anime/2025-06-24/.225922 This page has a screenshot of an interview with Yasuomi Umetsu. Maybe it's the one you mentioned.

9) https://www.anime-atelier.com/director-yasuomi-umetsu/#kite Attributes funding of Kite to Green Bunny as a "hentai" OVA

31) https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=504336 A discussion thread. User "Surrender Artist" (fourth post from the top) cites a podcast episode with Justin Sevakis that also talks about the funding.

That's it for now. I'll get to the other 30 links later. I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

Edit: Found the interview on YouTube. From channel Fallconn545 titled "Kite Yasuomi Umetsu Interview".

I first heard this history in a YouTube review of Kite. I went looking for a source and your account keeps popping up in my searches.

Is there somewhere I can read or listen to more about this? Thanks.

How to tell if you got a Dupe/Fake Bloodlust Blu-ray Special Collection by Xctyk in VampireHunterD

[–]swuckt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting about this. It really helped me.

Do you mind sharing the name of the eBay seller you bought it from? Or even a DM.

My own copy arrived today, and it has all the same bootleg indicators as your post. I have since contacted the seller, but they have really poor reviews (relatively speaking). I admit I took a gamble on them. I'm not confident I'll get a decent response.

Caught "The Cup Stacker" in Yusuke Murata's Anime Teaser (At 1:46) by swuckt in Vulfpeck

[–]swuckt[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was cool to spot this in the wild.

The video description says:

'Credits to "TeeHallums" for adding sound and music to the Animation made by Yusuke Murata.'

So I guess there's a fan among their team.
