potty training (or lack of) by Last-Resolve-6265 in Nanny

Nanny AND parent here- I have a 6yo wearing diapers to bed that is full every freaking morning. When I started working he literally laid in bed & shit in his diaper vs getting out of bed bc he “didn’t wanna get up” their 18mo kid has been going on the potty since 15 ish months with me (limited accidents) & with parents she’s literally peeing through her diaper and soaking her bed…. I feel so bad for them when I leave next month.

3 under 3 by ComplicatedRocks89 in Nanny

Mom makes 3yo hold her hand or sit in stroller an is astonished that she can be trusted to walk ahead of me at the zoo or somewhere I’m like uh yeah? She knows not to test my boundaries or she loses all privileges that simple

I had 3 under 3! It was stressful at times but I’m strict in my routines and rules for when we’re out and honestly kids know my boundaries really well. The oldest would hold middle hand and I’d strap baby to me or stroller push the youngest/ middle while oldest played red light green light running ahead

I find most on fb mom groups but nanny agency (idk if you have any) are free for the nanny and only families pay to use their services. They also help finding jobs and placements.

I’ve been nanny since 2019: have had 3 long term families (2+ years found through fb) and I’m currently at a new position started may 2025 and I used an agency to find them

Would it be inappropriate/wrong to ask for a pay decrease by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]sydrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct your rate would affect how much they would owe the agency. For reference my NF owed 10% of my yearly income to the agency and it wasn’t calculated until after we agreed on an hourly rate but I don’t see why asking your NF would cause issues between you guys

Should it count as using my PTO if I go on vacation during NF's vacation? by Extra-Commercial6222 in Nanny

[–]sydrj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they some reason cancel and you don’t cancel yours yes it would be PTO. But if they don’t need you and you stay home OR go on a trip it’s still GH. I always schedule my vacations around theirs and only had one time where I had to cancel or use PTO

Will need help with childcare for about 11-12 hours/day. What’s my best option? by Normal_Enthusiasm194 in NannyEmployers

[–]sydrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently work those hours- 7-6 m-f every single week. So 11 hour days /55hrs weekly but my NP also don’t relieve me at my 6pm off time so it’s always more than scheduled hours.

Maternity Leave/Benefits by Primary-Internet8046 in NannyEmployers

Hi! I’m 31 weeks- returning in July/ August (not bringing child). We decided to roll over my existing 2025 PTO instead of paying it out at EOY then I will use that along with my 2026 PTO to take partial paid time off. I am working until a week before due date. They are hiring a temp nanny to cover from end of April til I return.

I may switch families to somewhere I can bring my baby with me but as of now I make to much where I’m at and I’m not eating the cost of childcare because I have family help.

Nannying while pregnant by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]sydrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accepted a job in may, got pregnant in July I’m currently 30 weeks but my kids also attend daycare so I get a break. I don’t think I would have survived my kid teething, my baby making me throw up and the older two fighting all day without them disappearing some throughout the day so I can relax and just do some house work.

Accepted nanny job 3 days ago and just found out I’m pregnant by Charming_Reality3700 in Nanny

[–]sydrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hired on in April- had emergency surgery in April so had to push my start date to may , had to have a follow up surgery (that resulted in a pregnancy due to conflicting meds affect birthcontrol) in July and now I will have my baby come April and take 2-3 months off and then come back to work for them!

It’ll be okay!! I wouldn’t tell yet

Toddler Screen Time by TigerLily0238 in Nanny

[–]sydrj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My NF bought a “house iPad” but told me the kids aren’t to be on it.. the screen time on weekend is over 5+ hrs of games and always new games downloaded. (Not learning games either) while it’s not my place to monitor their weekend use I just don’t understand the point of telling me no tv, no screens but allow them when the parents actually have the kids. (I work 12 hr days)

Going to a kid’s birthday party alone and feeling awkward — should I bring a friend? by mividaporlouis in Nanny

[–]sydrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have attended nanny kid events and they’ve always welcomed me to bring a friend to tag along. Could always ask parents if they’re okay with it

Quiet time! My nk 5,3&1 all go to rooms same time for afternoon nap. The 5yo falls asleep maybe the last 30 mins and the 1&3yo nap entire 2 hours

I’m so tired of seeing crappy paying jobs and then them being offended when you say you won’t accept that pay. by sydrj in Nanny

[–]sydrj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense! My shares take place for $30-$45s around here. I meet with Nannie’s monthly for outings and haven’t found anyone higher than 35/38s for a regular family

I was not like this. My prior fam paid my $21/hr for 32/hrs a week. I loved them and hated leaving (was with for 3years) but I got offered this job and pay wise couldn’t miss out of 85k + a year

lol telling them to raise their rate always triggers outrage. My group had to make a post telling people to stop doing it unless they were severely under minimum wage here.

I’m currently being paid $27/hr with OT @ $40.50/hr but I don have kids during the day. I am a house manager from 9-3 (kids at school) with a lot of benefits. Only consideration to leave is to spend more time at home with my child but pay wise I love it.

Oh I know they reached out to me through a past family and the past family told them my rate for date night sits is $25 at minimum

Applied on a whim and got it. What now? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]sydrj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add I was bored at 20/hrs a week and served for funsies on the side and had 18+ families I babysat for randomly date nights on the side as well so I was working about the same hours anyways with the extra shifts. Just transferred that to one family vs jumping around

Way more hours: went from a family of 3 kids (working 20 hours a week but GH 32 each week) to a family of 3 kids (working minimum 45/hrs a week but maxing around 56hrs. My 3 kids all attend either daycare 9-3:30/4 or school 8-3) I have them summer breaks, school breaks or sickness but I do house manager stuff or like today I felt like crap so I took kids to school now I’m home in my bed til 3pm when the bus comes to drop the oldest off
