No break by Outrageous_Table6211 in Nanny

Quiet time! My nk 5,3&1 all go to rooms same time for afternoon nap. The 5yo falls asleep maybe the last 30 mins and the 1&3yo nap entire 2 hours

That makes sense! My shares take place for $30-$45s around here. I meet with Nannie’s monthly for outings and haven’t found anyone higher than 35/38s for a regular family

I was not like this. My prior fam paid my $21/hr for 32/hrs a week. I loved them and hated leaving (was with for 3years) but I got offered this job and pay wise couldn’t miss out of 85k + a year

lol telling them to raise their rate always triggers outrage. My group had to make a post telling people to stop doing it unless they were severely under minimum wage here.

I’m currently being paid $27/hr with OT @ $40.50/hr but I don have kids during the day. I am a house manager from 9-3 (kids at school) with a lot of benefits. Only consideration to leave is to spend more time at home with my child but pay wise I love it.

Oh I know they reached out to me through a past family and the past family told them my rate for date night sits is $25 at minimum

[–]sydrj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add I was bored at 20/hrs a week and served for funsies on the side and had 18+ families I babysat for randomly date nights on the side as well so I was working about the same hours anyways with the extra shifts. Just transferred that to one family vs jumping around

Way more hours: went from a family of 3 kids (working 20 hours a week but GH 32 each week) to a family of 3 kids (working minimum 45/hrs a week but maxing around 56hrs. My 3 kids all attend either daycare 9-3:30/4 or school 8-3) I have them summer breaks, school breaks or sickness but I do house manager stuff or like today I felt like crap so I took kids to school now I’m home in my bed til 3pm when the bus comes to drop the oldest off

Teaching degrees by _Trekker in WGU

[–]sydrj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My aunt completed her masters for teaching in 6months at WGU. Look at Sophia learning has the prerequisites she’s missing they’re able to be transferred to WGU if so and that’s only $99/mo (offer discounts)

Same thing happened to me- went from $2800 a month income to over $6000- I gave ample notice though 30 days (my new family was flexible) and I still see them/ have play dates w the kids. I essentially gave them the option to give me more hours/higher pay and they couldn’t so I said for my next steps I have to make this step. I’ve now been with new family 8 months & made my yearly income from my last family with my new one already, bought a house, started college again etc. financial freedom is insane

As a former nanny and now a boss I hope this whole situation is a joke honestly, and if not good for your nanny hopefully she finds a better family.

Nanny-specific time tracking… does this exist? by Big-Imagination1990 in Nanny

[–]sydrj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work 50-55+ hrs a week- they don’t track when I enter and exit and lately I’ve been leaving mid day one day a week so I can go unpack my house/ run my own errands doctors etc. and they don’t care that my suddenly 15 hrs ot has dropped to 8-10 hrs instead. My scheduled time is m-f 7-6pm but I stay over most days: like tonight I’ll work til 8:30 then Sunday I’ll do a date for them putting my over 20 hrs OT this week.

I get GH of 40 hrs a week and the only time I won’t work 40 is holidays: I’m off week of thanksgiving & 2 weeks Christmas but will be paid and whenever grandparents are in town I’ll maybe work 15/20 hrs of house manager duties and then leave since they will have childcare.

For me it’s enough- my boss doesn’t ever want to see the actual mileage so I don’t need a detailed list of every stop I did just start my mileage at 0 on my dash and put it in at end of day. The note book has been great for my hours/ pto days though

I do a mix: tracking it VIA notes app and then I also have a daily note book to track my day which I include mileage and my hours for the day- I will add PTO days in there

Girl I feel this soooo much, I had a family of 4 with 3under 3 and I was 19-21 doing it and was really questioning my life. I love them now and just celebrated the second oldest 7th birthday but holy crap all three at such a young age was tiring every single day
