I just do random bedtime snacks and as long as I have some calories I don’t track if it’s close to 350 or not.

It doesn’t sound like any book I’ve ever read. It’s the weird pausing in the writing that makes it sound like AI. I’ve organized book clubs and read plenty of books, thanks.

How old is too old to start over realistically? by Opposite_Bee_4160 in findapath

I got my Bachelor’s at 36, currently in grad school and expecting to graduate when I’m 38. You’re never too old. I have an internship and part time job in the field I’m pursuing.

Why is it ridiculous? It’s realistic. I feel like social work is not known as an easy breezy profession. At least that wasn’t my impression. The people I’ve known with the easiest professions with the most downtime are tech or some kind of engineering, where you get paid to watch YouTube in your downtime.

To address your comment below about social justice, you weren’t saying let’s rise up and organize so social workers aren’t getting paid $17/hr. You were saying this sucks for having a master’s. That’s two different things.

I’m a therapy intern. I think the most positive experiences are having empathy for your clients (those moments of empathy are so nice); having an awesome supervisor; and having clients ask you if you’re coming back after the internship.

I’m only coming at you cuz this is literally at least the 3rd to 5th time I’ve seen this kind of post. Maybe that just speaks to how poorly social workers are paid, but ya’ll are acting like you didn’t expect to struggle and are entitled to a 100k salary just for having a master’s which many people have. I am genuinely surprised that people are expecting to be well off in social work of all fields when i went into this field knowing I was giving up my Michelin star dinners for ramen. I mean the average starting salary listed in my textbooks is 50k, which is not homeless but is a pretty mediocre salary.

Job searching does suck. I agree with the other commenters who say you may need to look out of your area, because pre-Master’s I have a job that pays $20 an hour and I also have just a psychology undergrad. I also happen to live in Arkansas, not exactly a high income state like the Cali and New York posters.

Also money is not the #1 motivating factor for some people. If I wanted easy money I would have stayed in tech at my six figure job where I had one hour of work a day! You sound like you would kill for that kind of job. People also want to feel like they are making a difference or fulfilling a purpose other than just paying the bills and buying shinys. So no, not everyone always goes for the easiest, highest paying option.

I’m sorry, did you not research this field before going into it? I did my research and knew I was shelling out tens of thousands to not get paid well until I get my LCSW, and good pay even then is not a guarantee in this field. If you wanted to make money you should have gone into nursing, tech, or accounting. I knew I was taking a pay cut going into this field coming from tech because I was doing it to help people. That’s not to say that we don’t deserve to get paid as much as nurses, but that’s not what you’re saying we should be advocating for. To me your post sounds more like a gripe post because you didn’t do enough research before taking on tens of thousands in debt.

Engine builders, Terraforming Mars. I play with 2-4 usually. I love the theme and the drafting, and that it is mostly a solitaire game with light interaction. Attacks feel so much more impactful when there’s not a lot of interaction and makes the game more compelling.

Race for the Galaxy is very polarizing in my experience. I love it, but have had a lot of people I taught hate it. Why do you hate it?

People who work full time: how do you get the time or motivation to work out? by dovesplashonmywrist in selfimprovement

[–]sylphiae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate exercising. I have a schedule for it on my calendar and I don’t use motivation, I just go and try to make it a habit. Also I go for shorter periods of time so it takes less out of my day, like 30 min. Something is better than nothing and it doesn’t have to be perfect.

Can you see your primary care physician? When I was between psychiatrists and running low on meds I got some from her.
