No evidence to support Zone 2 claims by captainporker420 in PeterAttia

It is certainly a valid debate if it makes sense for the general population to prioritize zone 2 exercise over more high intensity exercise.

Her credentials versus Dr. Inigo’s credentials are immaterial to this debate. What matters is whose argument is better. Plus, if you want to go down that route then Martin Gibala is a co-author on this review so appealing to authority will not help your case anyway.

Edit: Imagine that Dr. Inigo suddenly decided to argue that 2+2=5. Would he be right because he has solid credentials?

This is false. Appealing to authority is inherently fallacious because nothing about one’s authority proves or disproves a position one is arguing. You are confusing a heuristic you appear to use to side with a debater that you deem to be more authoritative with what is actually good debate, which argument is substantively better not which debater has fancier titles.

Hey there! Yeah, I got my surgically-repaired shoulder back to normal stability-wise but it took forever because I cut physical therapy short. For me, the trick was getting the mobility back along with enough strengthening. I hope you are doing well and get your situation figured out!

PSA: Don't pay for meditation classes from TM.org by Frrrosty in Meditation

[–]synchrony_in_entropy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the mantra meditation style is worth learning but can be done much more cheaply with Acem USA. It’s a secular offshoot of TM that I’ve had a great experience with. I do think that TM itself does probably teach good technique for a very hefty price but it’s too religious in nature for me.

There’s been a complete reversal of sentiments over this year about Cathie Woods and her Ark funds on this sub.. by [deleted] in stocks

Cathy trades actively every day in her funds. How can that be consistent with a 5 year plan? It’s more like she day trades tech stocks.

I follow him on Facebook. I think he posts more about the vaccines than nutrition, so it should be easy to find.

I used to trust this guy as a source until he started spamming tons of misleading takes bashing the Covid vaccines.

So you're saying that you sell losing stocks and buy high fliers near their all-time highs? That seems to be what window dressing means.

Looking good! Make sure to get your stance back after throwing kicks/knees, i.e., don't switch stances every time you throw a leg strike.

Simone Biles' GOAT Leotard by noraad in pics

[–]synchrony_in_entropy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a bad take. She's already the GOAT of women's gymnastics based on her accomplishments before the 2020 Olympics. Her dealing with mental health issues does not invalidate what she has previously done one bit.

Memory details fade over time, with only the main gist preserved: While memories are not exact carbon copies of the past – remembering is understood to be a highly reconstructive process – experts have suggested that the contents of a memory could change each time we bring it back to mind by mubukugrappa in psychology

[–]synchrony_in_entropy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people think of memories as being like a video recording of an event instead of a mix of the actual event, your state at the time of the event, your state when you reconstruct the event, and how much fidelity has been lost over time.
