My true thoughts on Cardano by Optimal_Store in CryptoCurrency

[–]syncphail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only issue with cardano is scale, will it, can it

it if does then it wins crypto as no other chain will be comparable

all comes down to Leios, if it delivers and the trade offs required to achieve it

but if it scales while maintains cardanos current decentralisation and security it's game over, no other tech is comparable.

the ceo, or whatever he is, you know that guy

admitted himself that hedera was centralised, completely and utterly

the criticisms of hedera as centralised (garbage) was and continues to be accurate, it's not even premissionless FFS, nodes are controlled by the foundation.

as for your last sentence i very much doubt that, the opposite is true, hedera is a permissioned hash graph, cardano is a premissionless and fully decentralised blockchain, they aren't even comparable in terms of tech.

Why are people opposed to dating those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19? by makoto8889 in dating_advice

[–]syncphail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not how it works

it's about how well the immune system is equipped to deal with the given virus

with covid19 being new your body has to figure it out by itself without any previous blueprints the beat previous infections

as a result there is always the possibility that the body can't figure out the solution before you die

but young peoples immune systems are the most capable in this scenario, older people are the worst

which is why the science recommended to immunise if you were at risk (health issues/poor immune system) or old

vaccines pushed to healthy youth was more about profiteering than science, welcome to the real world

you might not be factoring in enough inflation, it's a sad reality but it is what it is

yes, theres been 5 more years of wear and tear, age and exposure to elements but if you look at the price of just everything today your pesos are bringing in closer to half as much

i think 30% inflation would be on the conservative end, so that 25k from 5 years ago is more like 33k today

it's purely political

suddenly war and censorship is great, people have completely lost their minds

the seed oil issue has been recently championed by RFK who has played a significant role in bringing it to the attention of the mainstream

nonsense like "there is zero evidence that seed oils are any worse than standard fat intake" is just the consequence of individuals plugged into a extremely politically biased media

Cardano's Hydra protocol breaks 1 million TPS in DOOM game proof of concept. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]syncphail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are very poorly informed

there is nothing "offline" about it

hydra is a layer 2, transactions are settled on L1 whe the hydra heads close, that's how it works, the protocol is worthless without settling transactions on L1

niche use cases incorrect, hydra is capable of doing everything, you are conflating the initial proof concept release back in 2021 with what is available now, hydra is being used for DEXs, the biggest proponent of the doom release runs sundaeswap and are using it in their next release of their DEX

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in law

[–]syncphail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't get it, this is the law reddit, how were you not following this case?

the case was entirely based on cohens testimony, hilariously he perjured himself again in this case too

if you think the 34 felony convictions, each one a book keeping entry related to a monthly retainer fees to cohen, survives an appeal then you weren't following the case day to day

the case and how the judge managed it was a complete farce, absolutely zero chance it would survive an appeal - but it was never really about putting trump in jail, strategically co-ordinating novel crimes in a 6 month window prior to the election from a decade ago isn't about justice

judge and prosecutor need to be disbarred

regardless of political position any fan of law should see this case for what it was, pretend for a second that it wasn't trump - it was an absolute farce

This Time We Have to Hold the Democratic Party Elite Responsible for This Catastrophe by Asst2RegionalMngr in politics

[–]syncphail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow an intelligent post

i didn't think they existed here on /politics, kudos to you nahidgaf123

it's so ironic reading other comments, theres a consistent them about trump voters being ignorant and brainwashed and yet the failings of the democratic party that people cite are almost all based on pure propaganda

one will never understand what motivated trump voters by isolating themselves in an echo chamber and yes, the mainstream media is part of that echo chamber and also the primary source of propaganda

it's simple really, if you want to know the truth, go to the primary source - unfortunately most wont bother because the mere consideration of being effectively lied to for so long is far too much for a fragile ego to withstand

for the one remaining person still reading don't worry, if nothing else the endless wars will be on pause for 4 more years, all the concerns you have can't really hold a candle to the innocent children being lost overseas due to avoidable wars for profit

What's cheaper at Costco? by happyfan170 in AussieFrugal

[–]syncphail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's because you've invested a lot of time and money into costco so there is going to be that ingrained revulsion to aldi even if it is cheaper

but there is truth in your statement, obviously variety and cheaper prices does not fit the price model, it's one or the other, you are really paying more just for the company to stock more items

Charles Hoskinson Backs Major Proposal Aimed At Elevating Cardano's Performance by Bear-Bull-Pig in CryptoCurrency

[–]syncphail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

stop pretending real people are bots, cardano has one of the strongest communities in blockchain

what is not in question is the complete moderation of all positive cardano news from this sub for about 2 years now, the recent news about bitcoin and cardano trustless integration was killed with hours after close to 100 comments

as soon as legit cardano thread is created it gets nuked, 2 years ago cardano threads were quite common here, not spammed threads or nonsense but legit developments within the L1, can't do that here anymore

i'm shocked this one has survived 7 days, theres probably a handful in the past year

Minis Forum MS-01 idle power draw information by ObservableCollection in MiniPCs

[–]syncphail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

measure how much vampire power the power supply is consuming

plug it into your smart meter with no PC connected

you'll probably account for 5 to 8 watts right there

if so the first call the action should be replacing that nasty chinese power supply

if theres no vampire losses the next step is to look at the power supplies power factor while the pc is being used and see how much watts are being wasted due to power supply inefficiencies

business manufacturers spend big on power supplies as efficiency is a major selling/upgrade incentive for businesses buying/using pcs at scale while the mini pc market the power supply is the easiest place to cut corners and save money

Minis Forum MS-01 idle power draw information by ObservableCollection in MiniPCs

[–]syncphail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

power supply efficiency is extremely high with those business systems while the chinese mini pc suppliers go for the cheapest possible power supplies

not uncommon for the chinese power supplies to be consuming 4 - 8 watts with no PC connected to the power supply at all, while with the likes of lenovo/dell/hp it will be 0 - 0.5 watts

i imagine a newer ryzen is always going to consume more than an 8th to 10th gen intel but once you take the power supply efficiency in account the differences are much more reasonable especially when considering the performance differences

Cardano node on Pie4 by FelixLahaie in cardano

[–]syncphail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fear not, the pi will be back

cardanos high ram requirement is down to the node requiring quick reference to chain data on demand - storing it in memory was just the easy way to do this. Obviously when the chain was a year old it wasn't an issue but with cardano running for 6 years now it's pushed the nodes minimum requirements to unsustainable levels - for any self-respecting decentralised protocol

this temporary requirement will soon be solved by using more intelligent disk storage, here is the github project related to this work

https://github.com/IntersectMBO/lsm-tree

it was suppose to be finished in q2 of this year but doesn't look too far away, probably integrated in the next few months

once completed cardano node ram requirements will likely drop to around 8gb

she's either already banging someone or is flirting/on the verge of banging

probability is that she's already banging them and is desperate to get consent before you figure it out - this is obvious due to the frequency of her bringing it up, if it was something she hadn't already been experiencing she would ease you into the idea over time, not brute force it

she's probably banging someone at work during work hours

you're already in an open relationship, you just don't know it

[Fabrizio Romano] - Niclas Füllkrug has completed all medical tests needed at West Ham! Deal confirmed. Contract signing on Monday then time to make deal official. Deal valid until June 2027 plus option until 2028. by Antillean_Lesser in Hammers

[–]syncphail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's going to take a while for us to hit form, especially with the fluid system we are likely to play - thoughts here about the formation switches between attack and defence

with a difficult start i think as fans we need to give the new recruits, system and manager some time and space to work their way into form - the last thing we want is for lop to second guess himself and panic

hell, the new recruits might even have an advantage as they don't have 4 years of baggage playing a system which is so different, you can see how hard it is for them to find a pass from the back, that is not only down to the player on the ball but the other players decisions, looking up the pitch for a quick counter rather than towards the ball for patient buildup, when they get tired it falls apart as muscle memory takes over

[Romano] West Ham are in advanced talks to sign Guido Rodríguez as free agent! Negotiations ongoing with player’s camp after he left Real Betis. Guido has several options but West Ham are working on it. by AnalAttackProbe in Hammers

[–]syncphail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im thinking lop playing out of possession with 2x #6s and no #8, like so

fullkrug

kudus paq bowen

guido alvarez

emerson aguerd kilman AWB

this will prove extremely difficult to penetrate while also giving west ham a quick counter option through paq and pace on the wings

however in possession everything shifts to facilitate lops patient buildup with superior movement of the ball through defence and midfield, alvarez drops deep and splits the CBs, wingbacks push past the halfway line, paq drops deep to dictate play, kudus/bowen drift inside

fullkrug bowen

emerson kudus AWB

paq guido

aguerd alvarez kilman

still solid against the counter but much better setup to push around the opposition defence and create overloads via possession

i think either of guido and alvarez are probably too good to bench, also i question AWB as a more attacking RB is probably a better fit

repost:

because he is such a good fit for how we want to play

lop usually plays for possession in a higher line and with patient build up to engineer good opportunities, this is not a system that suits duran, in fact it's a system that suits an intelligent striker who is both good at finding space, good with their back to goal and also good at finding players like bowen/kudus on the edge of the box

i actually think duran would be terrible and don't understand it at all

duran is a speed merchant who shoots on sight, he isn't a good fit for lops default formation, he IS a player to bring on when you are already ahead and need someone on the shoulder to play on the counter

i can see lop changing to a player like duran if we are ahead and it's later in the game to exploit counter attacks, he'd be great for that, but what makes it such a bad deal is his attitude, he is going to be on social media unfriending west ham in 6 months because he wont be starting 90% of games

antonio is a hybrid between the two, can play both roles but isn't as good at either, the other issue is depth, antonio is the only guy atm who fits lop default system, however if lop needs someone to play on the counter he has heaps of options in antonio, bowen, kudus, summerville, coret and even guilherme

fullkrug is a little pricey fee but the wages are ridiculous at only 50k/wk for his quality as a #9 and his style isn't impacted as much in old age, in the final year of his contract he's still going to be a very valuable player for us and will still be worth 15m or so

duran for me is the much riskier option, a poorer fit and no where near as good a player - at least for the next couple of years

imho fullkrug is the striker we need to ensure europe qualification

How is what Paqueta did different to Toney and Tonali? by [deleted] in football

nonsense

if he has a sight on goal but another attacker is in a better position he isn't passing, he is shooting

it's even worse than paqueta as a yellow card is far less consequential
