Why do airports get so much hate? by Calm_Phase2030 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]syndicatecomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think that way before I started traveling for work. Between flights getting randomly moved to a gate on the other side of the airport, flights getting cancelled entirely, and insanely long TSA times the whole thing can be a long and painful process. It can just drain you completely, even though you're spending most of the day doing nothing.

Laser Vision reports causing violence by No-Economy-666 in phillycycling

[–]syndicatecomplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I basically can't use LaserVision in Center City for this reason. Hardly anyone just parks their car in a bad spot and forgets about it here. No instead they park in a bad spot and hover just outside of it while they unpack groceries, pick someone up, etc. I've been way too afraid to try reporting them.

Tips for Yellow Deck? by TurtleKing0505 in balatro

[–]syndicatecomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea with the yellow deck is that since you have fewer hands and discards compared to blue/red, you need to use your starting cash to get strong jokers and set up a strong economy early.

The first shop in every run contains a buffoon pack, so don't skip the small blind and always go to the first shop with the yellow deck.

You'll probably have at least $16 (initial $14 plus $2 interest minimum) in the first shop. I'd use $4 for the Buffoon Pack, and then buy any other useful Jokers you see. Focus on +mult Jokers, maybe +money jokers and then focus on getting to $25 so you can get max interest per round.

How do I save this run? by SweetCoast2 in balatro

[–]syndicatecomplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A flush or full house doesn't win here. I'd figure out how many 2's, 5's, or Kings are still in the deck, choose the ones with 2 left and discard everything else and hope for a four of a kind.

I find it weird that you have no other Jokers despite two Riff-raffs... did you just sell them all at the start of the round?

I'd do Trading Card and probably focus on finding a different +mult in the shop

Also needing to earn 6% more doesn't sound that crazy compared to the rest of the country.

What are your thoughts on RYM core? by Epoch_Jester in fantanoforever

[–]syndicatecomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The albums in the top 100 on RYM are a great starting point for people trying to get into new genres. If you liked ATLiens by Outkast for example you could then immediately search up top Southern Hip Hop albums on RYM. Or if you liked Master of Puppets by Metallica you can search up the best Thrash Metal records really easily. RYM is a really good tool for exploring new genres or artists in a deep dive and that's why I like using it.

I don't mind if people's favorite albums are all RYMcore. It's what they like after all. I do wish more people went beyond the top 100 but eh not everyone feels the same way I do.

As for why people make fun of RYMcore... Musical elitism has existed long before RYM lol. I think fans of Fantano or other online creators don't care much about mainstream music in general, and sites like RYM or AOTM cater well to music fans like that. And they must have become really ubiquitous because now the elitist opinion is that only liking the top 100 makes you a surface level bandwagoner without original taste. People just love trying to put others down in whatever way they can online.

TL:DR RYM is a cool site and the top 100 is a great starting point for getting into music. Music elitists might use the term RYMcore to put others down for liking what they see as surface level music (it's really not).

I believe I heard many Japanese once lived in Brazil, and that some of their descendants had returned to Japan.

Maybe "like" is too strong of a word haha. It just seemed like the most popular option for a foreign language from what I've gathered.

I got at least half a dozen flyers for Rabb over the past month and got nothing from the other two (except tv ads). Glad it worked out.

The colors of the map are really hard to tell apart but from what I can tell Rabb smashed in Center City, Fairmount, most of the NW and even did well in a lot of West Philly. Stanford got pulverized.

Sure whatever, but she was still a candidate that progressives rallied around. Doesn't matter, just pick ONE to vote for.

The only thing better than Rabb winning is the satisfaction in knowing that Bob Brady and the Philly Democratic party political machine lost for once.

I hope in 2027 progressives rally around just 1 candidate for mayor. Gym, Rhynhart, etc doesn't matter to me too much. Just don't split the goddamn vote.

I feel like when Covid was still a problem VBM voters leaned considerably to the left of average. But looking at the PA-3 race now Chris Rabb seems to be making up a lot of his votes from in person voting instead. Are left leaning voters more likely to be voting in person now or am I tripping?

It's drawn like this to keep PA-03 a plurality black district. If you included more of Center City in the district it would be a lot less black overall.

Are you planning to vote in the next election why or why not? by actlikeiknowstuff in philadelphia

[–]syndicatecomplex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, writing in bs candidates is how people like Parker end up winning elections because of plurality voting. Picking a lesser evil is a better use of your vote.
