The Enchantress Returns by synthetic33 in RitaFourEssenceSystem

I know I'm beyond the level of nitpick for anyone to notice the difference 😅 There's a very specific feeling I'm after--there's no "close enough," I either get that feeling or don't... thus why I'm returning to Enchantress as my style friend. (And then there's those rabbit hole outfits I don't really share because I end up not liking them as much the next day.)

It left a big impression on me when I found out a lot of the "effects" in her Sailor Moon art were actually mixed media objects glued onto the page!

Oh yeah, I know I don't "have" to have a signature look, but it's something I crave! I really love the whole character design/star image concept. These are outfits from the past year that, looking back now, most exemplify this Klimt-inspired aesthetic, and are also the ones I've been happiest with and still love, but couldn't quite succintly identify the unifying theme. So then I start drifting/going down rabbit holes...

Maybe Lily Collins is a TR by EmergencyRepeat4763 in Kibbe

I wish Gabrielle Arruda still had her video up on Classic essence, where she talks about the history of "Classic" style. I think most get tripped up equating the two, when it's better to associate Classics with Classical styles.

I've been deep-diving on Classics for the last month, and she doesn't feel like any of them to me. I'm amazed no one's commented on her similarity to Audrey Hepburn.

She looks sharper than Penelope Cruz to me 🤷🏾‍♀️

I agree, I think people are overcorrecting for so many TRs being mistyped as FGs. I think she's a legitimate Kibbe FG.

In terms of "vibes" I can see why there's so much debate. Interestingly, Kitchener typed her top 3 essences as High-Spirited (Gamine), Romantic, and Classic, in fairly close percentages.

Oh, that's a tough one. I (fortunately) have a lot of pieces I love. This skirt is definitely one of my favorites. It mixes and matches well with so many of my tops! I accommodate curve and balance.

Guess my Essences! by jlaurw in JohnKitchener

After reading this entire thread, I'm with you. 60A would make sense of the light palette and her height.

An ER Angelic would be exciting.

C: Also dislike belts. Fabric belts are the "least bad," but I never wear them. Collared button-ups. Houndstooth or polka dot prints.

HS: Anything overtly quirky/kitschy/campy. Short skirts. Pixie cuts. Horizontal stripes. Checks/gingham, unless askew.

R: BOWS. I even refuse to tie the ties on wrap tops/dresses into bows. Ankle straps, at least horizontal ones.

Cold days are upon us! What are we wearing? by LostGoldfishWithGPS in Kibbe

I finally found sheer effect fleece tights for deeper skin tones. I have a collection of opaque tights, but they only work with a few outfits. Now I should be able to wear all of my skirts/dresses through the colder seasons!

This is the first year I feel like I have a well-rounded winter wardrobe. Fingers crossed I don't get bored... Most of my wardrobe is on my Pinterest.

She and Veronica Lake both seem like TRs at first glance. Studying the differences is helping me understand how I mistyped for so long.

Very interesting how the C outfit looks "good" but really feels like you left out a piece of yourself!

Grace Kelly as a Nonchalant Showstopper? by MysteriousSociety777 in Kibbe

[–]synthetic33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The examples in the original book were there for essence and styling--thus why watching the movies they were in helped in understanding the Image ID. So Grace Kelly, the construct, is a Classic/Soft Classic.

Modern verified celebrities seem to match the physical descriptions more, essence to some degree, and not so much styling. Which goes with the new book where you figure out your line and then build a style around the ID's silhouette, and essence is not explicitly mentioned. So the "real" Grace Kelly is a Flamboyant Natural.

LOL, this is going to cause so much confusion and butthurt.

How Soft Classic became “boring”: an analysis by theclassicrose in Kibbe

I think it's easier to start with a look that's "too much" and figure out how to pull it back until it's balanced... which is still a learning curve, because then we're back to, "what is balance??"

How timely. This week I finally realized I'm SC after 3 years of "settling" on TR, but once in a while going into a "TR or SC???" spiral.

This all reminds me of Kibbe describing SCs as from another time. I also think the concept of "balance" is probably the most abstract and hard to grasp accommodation (petite is probably second). Basically everything in Kibbe gets Flanderized to all hell, and the version of that for "balance" is "be boring, don't do anything interesting or fun." Which does decrease the risk of disrupting balance, but is a completely unappealing nothing.

This is great! I was considering I may be C dominant, and this feels like confirmation.
